The Smokin' Hen House has become one of the Desert Southwest's most popular barbecue spots. Regardless if they're posted at an event or a parking lot barbecue lovers flock to them. In fact, the biggest complaint about them is that their lines are too long. Now, you can get all that great flavor at one location. The Smokin' Hen House is now located inside the Hidden Shores Resort. The Smokin' Hen House is just feet from the shores of the lower Colorado River. The river is easily accessible via boat or the nearby beach. Their recipes are a mixture of family recipes and the culinary genius of the family's matriarch Mama Cheri who is no stranger to the culinary world. If you love barbecue, then the 20 or so minute drive is worth it. If you have a sweet tooth, then this is a must try.

Great food and funny hats. They're really embracing the LRJ experience and I'm all here for it.

Best chicken, pulled pork, and ribs I've ever had. We went to the restaurant location in hidden shores. The Smokey flavor is absolutely amazing. Great ambience and great service. Love that this is a family business and they make customers feel right at home. Was a very fun time. Will be returning time after time. Thank you!

We were super excited to try this place because it's so close to YPG but after going there for lunch today I would not recommend going here. At first we both ordered the pulled chicken and then out waitress had to come back out to let us know that the did not have any chicken at this time. This would have been understandable if the place were packed or we came later in the day, but we were there 30 min past opening for the day and the restaurant had only one other table of people. We changed our order to brisket and tri-tip. We entered an basically empty restaurant but still waited over 45 minutes for our food to come out. Our server was very sweet and apologetic, however, unfortunately aside from that there were not any redeeming qualities. I got the brisket which seemed dry and old. It had no flavor so much so that it was served with BBQ sauce (which to us just tasted like store-bought sweet baby rays) already on it. My Mac and cheese came out cold and was also pretty dry. The french fries were also cold and tasted like they had been fried house before and were just sitting under a heat lamp for hours. Not sure why we waited so long to be served cold dry food. Super disappointed overall and feel as though we wasted $50.

She won a little toy car and was absolutely ecstatic! We were then shown to our table, where our daughter was given a kids' menu and crayons to keep her entertained. The dining area was a bit chilly because the fans were running at full blast, but after I mentioned it to our waitress, she quickly took care of the issue. Our drinks and food arrived promptly. Unfortunately, they had run out of the hot link sausage, so I opted for the cheddar sausage instead. Even with the substitution, my brisket and sausage were cooked to perfection. The only disappointment was the grilled pineapple, which was a little firm and seemed underripe. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his meal. The portion was generous, but it was so good that he finished every bite and left completely satisfied. Our daughter, who is usually a very picky eater, happily ate her cheeseburger and fries. To top it off, she was treated to a complimentary ice cream cone, which made her day. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the thoughtful touches for children made this a wonderful place for families. We'll definitely be back.

They serve a healthy menu with a variety of options sandwiches/wraps, breakfast options, vegan, kids menu, smoothies, lemonade, coffees, alcohol (after 4pm) etc. I ordered a BALT sandwich meal combo--included fries or chips + lemonade (w/flavor options). No big deal, I thought. But the sandwich was served up on fresh sourdough and the bacon was chopped up into tiny pieces so it was so easy to eat without tugging, and served with avocado slices, tomato, lettuce and the right amount of mayo ratio (which was important). The homemade lemonade was a treat. And I had the garlic fries--delicious! As mentioned, I'm still thinking about how good that sandwich was. The place isn't huge but they seat a lot of people. Try this sandwich shop--it will not disappoint!

The young ladies working the register during the day are rude and disrespectful, while the night staff was outstanding. They were friendly, professional, and provided the kind of customer service every guest should receive. One thing that was especially disappointing was hearing day staff assume customers didn't understand Spanish and speaking about them in Spanish. That is unprofessional and not a good reflection of your business. The food is excellent, but the daytime customer service could definitely use improvement. I hope this feedback helps, because the quality of the food deserves service that matches it.

Everyone was working together as a team helping each other out. Because it was Good Friday, I ordered the lemon pepper salmon and added a side of grilled shrimp with mashed potatoes and corn. Everything was delicious especially, their homemade biscuits. It was a very busy restaurant but they got us in and out pretty fast. Check it out when in the area! Happy Yelping :)

(3/5) We decided to…read moregive Texas Roadhouse a try. The atmosphere is very energetic, with a lot of music playing over the sound of people talking. It's just not the type of environment I personally prefer because it was difficult to have a conversation at the table, but we decided to try it anyway. Our server was friendly, although it took a while before we were able to order our drinks and appetizer. We ordered the fried mozzarella as an appetizer, and it was hot, crispy, and very tasty. For our meal, I ordered a medium steak with mashed potatoes and gravy, while my husband had steak with green beans. The mashed potatoes were enjoyable and had a homemade texture with chunks of potato. Unfortunately, my steak was the biggest disappointment. I ordered it medium, expecting it to be juicy and pink in the center. After eating a couple of pieces, I realized it wasn't cooked the way I ordered it. When I cut into the middle, the steak was well done all the way through. It was dry and not what I expected. Our server brought the issue to management, but after waiting quite a while, we were initially told nothing could be done. We requested to speak with the manager, and after another wait, he came to our table. He offered to remake the steak, but we declined because we personally do not send food back to be remade. What was most disappointing was the way the situation was handled. The manager explained that unfortunately things like this happen often and that they had recently remade another customer's meal without an issue. However, that wasn't really the point. We understand mistakes happen in restaurants. The issue is that the food should have been prepared the way it was ordered the first time. Hearing that mistakes happen "all the time" was not reassuring as a customer. It made the situation feel more like something to accept rather than an opportunity to acknowledge the mistake and make it right. We didn't ask for any type of discount, but when he asked, we showed our military ID and he gave us a military discount since they do offer that. We didn't want to ask for anything else, but he also gave us another five or ten percent, which we appreciated. The fried mozzarella appetizer was good, our server was polite, and some parts of the meal were enjoyable. However, the overcooked steak and the way the concern was handled left us disappointed. Overall, I'd give this visit 3 out of 5 stars. Mistakes happen, but how a restaurant responds makes a lasting impression. That stuff didn't really mean anything to us, and I don't think we'll be coming back.
