Strange experience. I asked the server if the tadig trio could be made vegan and she said she would ask. She left for 10 minutes and came back with the dish already made and put it in front of me. I asked her if it's vegan and she said yes. Well, I guess that was what I was going to eat since it was already put in front of me. The service for the rest of the meal was also not that good. We had to ask for water refills and honestly, it felt like we were forgotten. However, other tables with different servers were given a lot of attention. Personally, the tadig was much too hard. I couldn't hear any conversation when I was chewing. I also felt pain in my teeth several times from how hard the rice was. I have had tadig several times at otger restaurants, and the rice has never been that texture. The stews were fine but the Gheymeh was more oily and less flavorful than I had had in the past. The yellow split peas were undercooked. The Fesenjan was good and I would have that again. The Ghorme Sabzi was just okay. read more

Went there today for an early dinner with a friend and was disappointed with their salad quality. My friend and I used to rave about their fresh chopped salad which had mixed greens, fresh tomatoes, persian cucumbers, olives, and topped with feta cheese. You can clearly see how fresh the salad looked from prior pictures oeople would post and it did not looked like that today. I had ordered Griilled Salmon Salad today and my friend ordered the mix Koobideh and our salads looked alot like it came directly out of a geocery store bag with mix carrots and purple cabbage--wow. There was hardly any lettice and the texture of the salad tasted really weird. if you raise your prices but lower the quality of your food, then you know where that goes. I have to say, the Salmon was grilled to perfection (and was delicious) but was ruined by the mix salad clearly out of a bag. I used them to cater couple of events and their catering menu is beyond delicious. She is very patient and sits with you and recommends different types of food based on your occasion and party size. I've been here twice and quite liked it both times! The restaurant has plenty of seats inside as well as two seating areas outside, all of which are great. In our first visit, I tried Kashk O Bademjan and Boneless Chicken (pictured). Both were quite good! I was especially impressed with Kashk O Bademjan as its quality can be quite restaurant-dependent. The second time, I tried their Tahchin with Chicken Kabob (pictured, sorry for the bad quality, it was a very sunny day!), which was presented very well (beautiful barberries at the top!) and was quite good also! People in my party also tried the Ash Reshteh, Gheyme, Ghorme Sabzi, and Fesenjan, everybody was quite happy! My husband and I went to the Irvine Grill with another couple on Sunday, 2/16. There was no host or hostess, so no one knew what to do. We stood around for a long time and finally found a clipboard and put our name on it. We did not know what to do as the plane was so disorganized. We later got a table and then someone literally dumped bread on it, like they were going us a favor. No one apologized for the long wait, nor brought us glasses of water. People were coming in and out of the restauant and the front doors were stuck wide open and we got up from the table and to close them ourselves at least 8 times. They acted like they were doing us a favor to wait on us, after I flagged down a server who still ignored us and later passed us on to someone else. We have never had such atrocious service. We could not get anyone to take our order forever, and even though the food eventually came and was excellent, we will not go back due to the horrible service, bad attitude and horribly long wait for dinner. read more

The beef in the combo was not as impressive as the chicken but still not bad. The warm bread and accompanying salad were really an added plus. Who doesn't want to eat warm bread with butter and then try to undo the carb damage with some salad? Mmmmm. We have also ordered the chicken koobideh and chicken soltani dinners. I just love when a place makes solid, yummy food and also when they're generous with their portions. No one wants to feel like a restaurant is trying to skimp on the serving size. At first i thought i might be wrong , i cut the part that looked off and continued eating , i was on a phone call with my friend at the same time I was eating and i told her about the tomato's taste and color she asked me to grab it and smell it and yes it was mold because not only it smelled horrible but also the molded part was white and mushy ! What a shame ! We trust a restaurant for the health and safety of the foods ! Now i ate a food with mold and mold is the worst thing to eat ! This is a 3.5 star review. The good: helpful and nice staff, comfortable setting on outdoor patio, wait staff wears masks, GENEROUS portions, mast o' mousir, mast o' khiyar and Adas Polo. The average: chicken koobideh, chicken shish kabob, albaloo polo and bread. This is a comfortable neighborhood restaurant and a good dining experience. The problem is that the proteins are NOT well seasoned and the kabob was overcooked and somewhat dry. That is like poor yellowtail in a sushi restaurant- pretty unforgivable. There was a lack of juiciness that is the mark of good kabob. It felt a little like the chef intentionally cut down on flavor to appeal to a more bland palate. Overall a good place for well priced, generous portions of decent food. The yogurts were excellent for sure and the rice dishes were quite nice. If they could figure out the marination and seasoning of the proteins - this could get another star. read more

For some reason I didn't expect the experience I had (in a good way). The staff was all very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious albeit a bit pricey. But I understand why. The place is beautiful and the plates are gorgeous. It makes a difference what you eat from. The food was great and I'll definitely be back. WARNING - rice bacteria Food handling from Irvine grill could have killed me. I ate here last Monday - this what I ordered the over all experience was fine. But I be came sick several hours later ended up in the emergency room and got wrenching pain and diarrhea. After a bunch of tests they sent me home 6 days with diarrhea like Montezuma's revenge. I went back to the ER they were able to pin point a bacterial infection specifically Bacillus cereus a rare bacteria from rice The infectious disease specialist explained it like thisUncooked rice can contain spores of Bacillus cereus, bacteria that can cause food poisoning. The spores can survive when rice is cooked. If rice is left standing at room temperature, the spores can grow into bacteria. These bacteria will multiply and may produce toxins (poisons) that cause vomiting or diarrhea. This is what I got from the Irvine Grill this is the only place where It could have come from without question - the rice the rice was super crispy and was most likely left out. There was one other case reported at the hospital sighting the same restaurant. I was admitted to the hospital for three days of intervenous antibiotics because it got into my bloodstream and this was very serious a total of eight days being sick crazy medical costs missed work etc. no one at the place even wanted to listen to what happened! BE WARNED this was a horrific experience. I'm lucky it didn't cost me my life. For real unbelievable. read more

I went there with my daughter on Father's Day. There was no table available so we sat at the bar. Took 15 minutes for some to finally take our order and get us a glass of water. They took our orders , brought the appetizer but after waiting for about 40 minutes for our main course, the waitress came and informed us that they were out of beef kabobs and if we wanted to order something else. We ordered chicken instead just to wait another 10 minutes and and be informed again that they were out of chicken too.
