We tried a couple of times and it has been good, chicken Milanese is crispy and delicious and the pastas are good. The cashier is always very polite. Tables could be cleaner. It is a very casual and good option for Italian cravings. Love to support local business.

This restaurant was small but very clean and welcoming. The customer service was excellent, and the food was absolutely delicious. The server who took our order was attentive throughout the entire evening and made sure we had everything we needed. He also recommended several dishes that turned out to be amazing. We truly appreciated the wonderful service and overall experience!

    Caprese sandwich on focaccia.

The scrumptious, warm, crunchy focaccia was the ideal bread for a memorable caprese sandwich. The focaccia inside was soft and chewy. The focaccia was the perfect size; not too thick or too thin. It firmly held the mozzarella, fresh, peppery arugula and flavorful tomato slices so nothing escaped. The mozzarella was creamy, silky and oh-so delicious. Pesto was the only other ingredient in the sandwich and we appreciated the simple tastiness of each ingredient. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Ask for Alex if you want an Italian's recommendations. The space is bright, clean and welcoming.

This was a nice, quick, and casual pasta place! I would definitely come here for a quick bite of good food. Simple but tasty. Inside was very clean and spacious, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The fusilli arrabbiata was very flavorful. I'm very partial to fresh pasta (not dried/stored), and though I don't think this was freshly made, I still enjoyed it. It didn't have the same bounce and chew of fresh pasta, but the quality and texture was still good. The arrabbiata was spicier than I expected. The focaccia that came with this dish was delicious with the olive oil that was drizzled on it. I think the focaccia sandwich came together a bit less than the pasta did. It was a bit dry, and the ingredients weren't really coming together as much. I think, possibly, the arrabbiata flavor was stronger and lingered longer and made the sandwich less flavorful in comparison. The focaccia bread was light and enjoyable though. I would definitely come here again to try other pastas but might pass on the focaccia sandwich.

This is the perfect spot to go if you're ever craving Italian sandwiches. I got the Prosciutto Focaccia Sandwich ($15) and Piccante Focaccia Sandwich ($15) -- they were super delicious, filling, and not dry at all. The service was great; they greet you when you enter and are super friendly. You order at the register and they bring you your food. I will note that you have to wait about 15 minutes for your food (depending on how many people are ahead of you), but because they make your order fresh. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't too busy. There was plenty of seating inside and outside. Can't wait to come back and also try their pasta and pizza.

Overall: SOOO good! I would definitely come back here. It's a great Italian placed tucked away in the heart of Irvine. Got the margarita pizza and 2 pastas (fettucine and chef's special) -- all really good portions. Service: You order up front and they bring it to you, food does take a little bit but it's all freshly made so I didn't mind. Ambiance: Modern and bright inside! Small, but they offer both indoor and outdoor seating.

My new favorite local pasta place! So underrated and hidden. It is such a clean and cute place to eat. The food was also super good. I recommend trying their soups and pasta! Each comes with bread! Usually the pesto comes with gnocchi, but they let you switch it out for fusilli! So good. Also, I had the super greens soup, and it was so amazing. I RECOMMEND: -pesto pasta (you can swap the gnocchi out) -super greens soup The service was amazing as well!!

Sole Toscano was a nice little Italian restaurant - the store felt clean and new. We got the picante and turkey pesto focaccia sandwiches and they were so good ! The portions were a good size and shareable among friends/family. The staff were friendly and the bread was freshly made. Definitely will be coming back

I ordered their CHEF SPECIAL - Fettucine Al Funghi and CHEF SPECIAL - Spaghetti all'Amatriciana and they were both very delicious. The pasta was fresh and the sauces were so flavorful. The service was great and the cafe was clean. I would 100% return!

Just got back from our trip to Italy 2 weeks ago and we were craving quality Italian coffee and food and this place did not disappoint. We ordered an espresso, cappuccino and cannolis and loved it so much we had to try their mortadella on fresh focaccia bread. Appreciated glassware for our coffees, freshness of the food and helpfulness of the staff. We even had a great convo (maybe the owner) about our trip to Italy. Seriously can't wait to come back!

Badly bruised avocados used in California Piadina.
    Dnb J.

Nice staff, nice restaurant. I'm just not impressed with the quality of ingredients used. A $15 sandwich shouldn't include heavily browned avocados. I noticed the large brown spots in the avocado that was being used, and you can easily see them in my photo. It wasn't bad enough for me to call out in the establishment, but it is enough for me to not want to come back.

Really great service and sandwiches are great for take out as well. I would definitely recommend.

It's one of those places that makes you wonder why it isn't constantly packed. The restaurant is always spotless, and the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. One thing I really appreciate is that they bring your food to your table, which is a nice touch these days. Be sure to leave them a tip they definitely earn it. If you have a dog, you'll love the outdoor patio, so you can enjoy lunch with Fido. There's also plenty of parking, which makes stopping by easy. Another bonus is the location. It's right next to Dairy Queen and several other restaurants, so if you're craving dessert afterward, you've got plenty of options. They also have an awesome self-serve fountain drink station with a great variety of sodas and flavored drinks. I almost hesitate to write this because it feels like Irvine's best-kept lunch secret. I paid $2.85 extra for each Padina. I called in and asked if they could make sure that they use the grilled chicken instead of the deli meat. This has never been an issue in two years. The woman I spoke with, I think her name was VEE, made it a cumbersome process to try to charge me another $5 for the grilled chicken. While I understand this chicken is more expensive and I have paid the additional fee in the past, she made the process very cumbersome, all while dealing with a crying baby. I might've spent $1000 here over the years, and I told her that this might be my last time ordering given this experience. Her exact comments back was, "OK no worries." So in the future, I'll never order again and you've lost me as a customer. Congrats. You made $5 more. And lost hundreds in the process.

I then walked over to the counter and asked the employee if the hour parking in the alley was strictly enforced because I planned to be there for about two hours. She said she didn't know. I replied that I would probably have to leave in the middle of lunch to move my car, yet she never mentioned that Giana has a parking lot for customers just on the other side of the building. I only found out because my friend arrived and told me where she had parked. I can't understand why an employee wouldn't share such helpful information with a customer. As for the food, we were the only guests in the restaurant at lunchtime. We ordered a chicken salad and a pasta dish. My salad was very good, but my friend's pasta was unbelievably salty, to the point that it actually burned both of our throats. It was easily the saltiest restaurant dish I've ever tasted. Our server never came back to check on us after delivering the food, so after waiting for quite a while, I had to walk up to the counter and ask her to come to our table. She immediately offered to replace the pasta, and my friend ordered the sausage pasta instead. She really enjoyed the second dish. Since we wanted to try dessert, we each ate only about half of our meals and asked for the leftovers to be boxed up. We also ordered two affogatos, which were delicious and ended the meal on a high note. Unfortunately, that didn't last. The server took our plates to package our leftovers, returned with two bags, called out what she believed were our meals, and handed them to us. We each drove home, about 30 minutes in opposite directions, only to discover that she had given us wrong leftovers. We both lost the meals we had been looking forward to eating for dinner and had to throw away the food we were mistakenly given. I called the restaurant afterward and left a voicemail explaining what had happened, but no one ever returned my call or acknowledged the mistake as a courtesy. There were definitely positives. My salad, the replacement pasta, and the affogatos were all good. However, the overall experience was overshadowed by several avoidable service issues: the lack of parking guidance, having to get up to ask for service after receiving an inedible dish, the mix-up with our leftovers, and the lack of follow up after I called. For a first visit, it was disappointing, and it left me unsure whether I would return.
