I introduced my coworkers to this and let's just say they fell in love and went crazy from this experience. There's a 90-minute dining limit, but honestly it still felt worth it. They also have a bar area with plenty of extra items like desserts, drinks, soups, and additional food stations, which made the experience feel more premium. Service was good overall. The server helped grill the meat for us and was attentive throughout the meal. The only downside was that we were asked multiple times to join the membership program even after politely declining. Took the family out to eat recently and they had a blast. We been to the one in Monterey Park, but it was our first time at this Jamboree location. Back then, this spot used to be Tokyo Table and they just got bought out. The interior is clean and decorated with bright colors. Once you walk in, you can see a a fridge filled with Wagyu for display. Looks dope. Theres a table where they have unlimited side dishes, a sauce bar, drink station, ice cream maker, and heated countertop with burgers and egg tart. Everything looks well placed, organized, and neat. We ordered lots of different waygu cuts like the top blade, brisket, tongue, and etc. We basically ordered all the meat to try. My favorite was the cow tongue and the short rib. Very juicy and fatty; kinda like eating butter. It's delicious but you can't eat too much or else you'll eventually get sick of it. We also ordered the sushi there and it was whatever. Tasted fishy, but obviously they are known for their BBQ, not fish lol. The scallop was not bad though. We had sake to wash down the oiliness lol. Pretty buzzed that afternoon. The guy who served us was quick and friendly. Tip, don't eat the side dishes first because you gonna get full. I had the Wagyu burger in the beginning, and I couldn't eat that much afterwards. Had about 4 plates of meat to myself and that's it. I understand the demographics and their demand, especially in that upscale market, but it was pretty pricey even more so in this economy. This was my second time eating here at Chubby Cattle's new location in Irvine and, like last time, I had a great time. I came for lunch at Sunday and I knew that there would be a line so we arrived about 30 minutes prior to opening to find that there was already a line of about five people! I know waittimes here can get super high so I am glad we came early, because our party of six got sat immediately. We came to celebrate my dad's birthday, and since it was his birthday, he got a free meal with his Chubby Plus membership! Definitely makes the membership worth it. As always, the selection of meats and appetizers were amazing and very diverse. I love that there are so many options to choose from. I just wish the timer was longer, since you only get like 70 minutes to order food and there is a 5 minute stop in between every order so you can only order every 5 minutes. I think this is only a feature in the Irvine location, unless the other locations have changed and added this as well. My girlfriend and I also love the egg tarts. Also, great taste from the new cheese tarts as well! The best part of my experience was definitely our service from Ryan E. He was such a great server, offering to cook the meats for us and helping us out even when we didn't ask for it. I have been to Chubby Cattle restaurants multiple times and nobody has ever actually cooked the meat for us and Ryan E. did it multiple times, despite it being busy. While cooking, he would converse with us and made gaming jokes with my sister, who is typically super introverted and doesn't really talk. Got there at 5PM, the wait time was over an hour. We put our name into the tablet and waited. I've said this before and I'll say it again. The drivers in the plaza are something else and I'll leave it at that. They have water outside while you wait and they are 2 arcade machines that have a bunch of different games on them . Tried to play Street Fighter, but I don't think the joysticks and buttons are working properly. We finally get called in, about 45 mins. They offer different tiered member ships, which gives you a small discount and possible a free meal on your birthday. We decided not to sign up for it. Our waiter was Ryan, and he was super helpful with cooking some of the meat and explaining things to us. We opted for the gold tier which doesn't give you a whole lot of the good cuts. Most of the ordering is submitted on the tablet at the table. The tablet has 90% of the options, they also have a hot food/ salad area in the back which is in a horrible place and it's impossible to maneuver back there. You'll bump into people no matter which direction you walk. The soft drinks and milk teas are also back there. In my opinion, it's a total mess back in that area. I visited once and did not go back. The gold tier gives you a couple of premium Wagyu options - which were really tender. Once you finish those dishes, you go back to the lower cuts which can be rather fatty and tough. They also have a few of seafood options. The food and meats come out fast, the problem is the grill is smaller than a tradition KBBQ place so the cooking area is smaller. Some of the cuts of meat will take up the whole grill which really limits and kills your timed meal. Overall, our server Ryan was great, the premium cuts were good, the lower cuts were average at best. The hot food/salad/drinks area is chaotic. To me, it wasn't worth the premium price we paid (gold tier) and there's a lot of options in Irvine and have better cuts for a better price. The hype didn't match the quality. I'd skip it. read more

We got the Diamond Tier, so we were able to try a wide variety of the meats that are supposed to be their standout items. Unfortunately, the experience didn't fully live up to the hype. The supposed A5 Wagyu was kind of tough and not nearly as tender as I expected. I was hoping for that melt-in-your-mouth, buttery texture, but it fell short. My favorite item was probably the uni with mentaiko, though even that was a little disappointing since the uni texture was kind frozen and wasn't as soft or buttery as I expected. The highlight of this place was definitely the service. The staff was very helpful, took the time to explain what we were getting, what paired well together, and even cooked a lot of the meats for us, which made the experience much better. This location is a bit smaller compared to the Rowland Heights one, but it feels more cozy and comfortable in its own way. Service really stood out to me. As others have mentioned the self service area is incredibly cramped and uncomfortable. Why am I paying $200 for dinner and forced to get my own drinks? Our server was cool. The food was fine. Again, not a $100 per person experience. Then, it became obvious how they get so many reviews. First they try and sell you on a membership. Then, they get you to download their app. Finally, they have you scan their code and ask very directly for that review! So tacky! And, it literally felt like I was at a time share presentation. Food was great but kinda missed the lamb chops that they have at the Rowland location. They gave the dry-aged stuff here but that wasn't really for me. The space inside feels really cramped and you're literally back to back with someone constantly at the side dishes /sauce bar/ drink bar. I get that they like to push for you to sign up for a membership but our friend that ALREADY had a membership was asked like 5x if he had a membership. It was getting a little annoying. Our server, I think his name was Aspen, was pushing my friend to tip a "mandatory" 18% because we were a party of 5 but the menu says it applies to parties of 6+. (See screenshot in my photos). He also said he was going to put it in our final order into the kitchen but we never got our last order of meats. We asked about it later on and they told us that the kitchen never got our last order so we simply didn't get to get our last order in. On top of that, one of us decided to sign up for the membership that day with the deal going on that weekend and with sign up, we were supposed to get an A4 filet mignon. Chubby Cattle has taken over the former Tokyo Table spot at Diamond Jamboree, and if you know that plaza, you already know parking is an absolute nightmare so definitely plan ahead if you have a reservation. Walking in is a bit of a sensory overload. The space is packed with lights, visuals, and graphics that honestly make it feel like you've stepped into something like Kabukicho in Tokyo. Very high-energy, very immersive. Our server (I believe his name was Hunter) was super friendly, accommodating, and especially patient with our group since it was most people's first time there. Service overall felt attentive even with how busy and chaotic it can get. They've got a buffet-style setup for veggies, drinks, sides, and sauces, plus the viral rice machine that literally dispenses rice into your bowl which was a fun touch. Also really appreciated seeing items like tako wasabi on the menu -something you don't often find often at AYCE. The meats are definitely high quality with a huge variety including lamb, seafood, pork, and more. You essentially choose between different tiers, each unlocking more premium cuts. We went with the Diamond tier, which included two special apps per person (options like toro and uni), along with several A4 and A5 wagyu selections. The nigiri and fish quality were also surprisingly top-tier for an AYCE concept. That said, while the experience is impressive, I'm not entirely sure the price fully justifies itself. The meat quality is excellent, but I've had similar satisfaction at a la carte Japanese BBQ spots for less overall spend. It's a fun experience, but it didn't completely blow me away the way I expected given the hype. Timing is also a bit strict-they advertise a 90-minute seating, but last call comes around the 70-minute mark, which feels a bit tight, especially for larger groups. Food also took a while to come out at times, particularly with an 8-person group ordering off two tablets. One other odd detail: you can bring a birthday cake in for celebrations, but you're not allowed to eat it there, which felt a bit strange.
