Absolutely loved the food at Suren! It's one of those takeout-only places where you order on a tablet. There is some seating outdoors but it's pretty limited. My mom and I shared the beef koobideh and subbed barberry rice for the regular rice and it was absolutely phenomenal. It came with a grilled tomato and grilled jalapeño and everything was so delicious and flavorful. The koobideh was perfectly cooked and so tender and juicy. The rice was buttery and fluffy with a slight bite to it. I'm craving this again as I type this review, lol. Highly recommend if you are on the hunt for a yummy and affordable Persian meal!

I recently tried Suren Persian Kitchen and it's such a convenient spot if you're looking for flavorful, home style Persian food that's easy to take to go They originally started in Vancouver and now operate out of a smart kitchen in Irvine, so it's mainly a takeout style setup. They do have outdoor tables and chairs though, which makes it really nice to sit outside and enjoy your meal in the California weather I tried a variety of dishes and everything felt fresh and satisfying. The cranberry rice and lentil rice were standouts, and I also had the green bean rice with lamb and chicken along with beef kebab and steak kebab. The portions are generous and it's perfect if you want to grab a few items and meal prep for the week I also added a spinach salad to balance everything out and finished with their cheesecake and tiramisu, which were a great sweet treat Overall it's a great option when you want something filling, flavorful, and a little different from your usual takeout. I would definitely come back for easy meals throughout the week

Been here for the 2nd time. I called and placed my order, they are only 4 min away from my gym. Got 2 Koobideh dinners. Swapped out normal basmati, and got lentil rice $3 up charge (WORTH IT), and barberry rice $2 upgrade (delightful). I also asked for some Tahdig, they placed some on top of each koobideh dinner. They do Tahdig better! A layer of lavash bread cooked to crispy perfection with a layer of crispy rice under it. Perfectly seasoned. I seriously enjoyed this last night! I also tried for the first time, egg plant dip with stewed tomotoes puree. So tasty!!!! I ate it with lavash, some of the lentil rice and some homemade radish kimchi (LOL). And I also got a full menu. Excited to review it and order more. The portion size is very good, you can split each koobideh dinner into a few meals so it makes the price justifiable. Their food is seriously so delish! I think it is the best Persian food of my entire life!!!

Surenres is a hidden little gem a takeout only kitchen tucked near John Wayne Airport that delivers way above its weight. The food comes out fresh, fast, and flavor forward, perfect for travelers, office crews, or anyone who wants a legit, no nonsense meal without the sit down wait.

Suren needs to be on your list. We ordered the chicken kabob, koobideh, and the lentil pilaf with lamb neck, and every protein was cooked perfectly. The lamb neck was fall-apart tender and packed with depth. The koobideh had that classic smoky char, and the chicken kabob was juicy and well-marinated. The barberry rice with chicken added a bright, slightly tart contrast that balanced everything out. Don't skip the smoked eggplant dip, it's creamy, flavorful, and honestly one of the best sides on the table. Finished with tiramisu which was light but still rich. It's a pick-up style setup (smart kitchen), so it's quick and convenient. Great option when you want something elevated but easy.

    Kabab torsh

I'm usually skeptical of higher-priced Iranian restaurants as they rarely justify the premium, and I'll admit I had some initial sticker shock here. However, the quality won me over. One thing I always pay attention to is the rice, which most places treat as an afterthought, but they did a decent job here. I highly recommend the Kabab Torsh (available in lamb or chicken). It's a Northern Iranian specialty that is hard to find at most restaurants. If you're looking for a budget-friendly staple, the local Persian grocers are still your best bet-however if you want premium, Northern-style takeout, this is certainly worth trying.

This was my first time ordering from this establishment, and I am pleasantly surprised. The food is delicious. I got the Kabab koobideh with somagh polo and it was wonderful. They also were kind enough to add in to cookies. Another cute personal touch was writing "Happy Nawruz" which is happy Persian new year on the bag. 10/10!

First time trying this place, I love koobideh so I was very curious. Ordered via Yelp online and then drove over walked in and picked up. It's like a contactless food lab. I ordered the Vaziri Kabab and it is delicious! The portion is pretty generous, but the kabobs were juicy, flavorful and the rice fluffy. Would recommend and will be coming back.

A lot of people I trust have raved about it, and I'm glad I gave it a shot. Our server, Leyla, was great. She took orders for 6 people entirely from memory without a single mistake, all while staying kind, attentive, and composed during a busy service. The food was excellent. The tahdig was crispy, and the stews were rich and homemade, easily some of the best I've had. The koobideh kabob was flavorful and cooked very well, and the chicken barg was equally good. For dessert, the faloodeh had a good balance of rose water, and the Persian ice cream was just as good. I really enjoyed everything about this place and will absolutely be back.

The first time, the service and quality of the…read morePersian food were not impressive, but their outdoor seating is nice, so we decided to give it another shot. Unfortunately, it was a mistake. Despite a sign saying 'Wait to be seated,' there was no hostess present. After 5 minutes of waiting, a busboy who didn't speak English attempted to seat us without welcoming us. He barely communicated that no seats were available outside, and when I asked what the wait time was, he could not answer. I found the manager, a Persian lady in her 50s, and asked if she could tell me when an outside table would be available. In a surprisingly snarky tone, she snapped in Farsi, 'You're asking me for the impossible, how do I know how long it's going to take for them to be done? Do *you* know how long it's going to take for them to be done?' I was shocked. Obviously, the answer to a question like this is a standard 15 to 25 minutes of wait time, but unfortunately, she chose a much harder and completely unnecessary response pattern. I told her that this is no way to speak with a customer and started to walk away, choosing to take our business to Caspian Restaurant instead. Unbelievably, she then yelled after me, 'Excuse me, I asked you a question, why are you walking away?' to which, of course, I did not respond. I feel everybody should know about this because a restaurant in such an expensive location needs customer service as its foundation to get repeat clients. It's very unfortunate that this happens to restaurants where the owners are silent and hire the wrong managers--managers who can't handle stress well, or who feel their outdated customer support still holds up in 2026. Unless they change their management style and make a visible change, I would strongly discourage anyone from needing to experience the same.

It's pretty far from home, but I…read morecould easily work it into the flight path so to speak, between the Tustin REI and 17th Street in Costa Mesa. Located in a small but busy plaza, HOK is a small, potentially packed restaurant with a few tables outside. About half full mid afternoon on a Saturday, i got a table and quickly made a decision to try the combination plate with a chicken and kubideh kabob, with rice. Next time I'll branch out, but this first sample provided much pleasure and evidence that they can't do anything wrong (except be closed when I'm craving more ;) A few minutes after placing my order the warm flatbread came out with butter. Comparatively, many other Persian restaurants use Lavash sections, so I enjoyed the contrast. The neighboring table of four received their plates one at a time, so I figured the kitchen and grill were probably also fairly constricted like the lobby. Nonetheless, it didn't take long and the generous, colorful portions were a sight to behold! The first thing I noticed was how moist and tender both kabobs were. Not burnt or dry anywhere on either type. That's attributable to the elevated method of grilling, but here the chef has it down to a science. The second observation came later when I didn't feel excessively thirsty, or bloated, ir dehydrated. Some restaurants really brine the meat while marinating, but here it's another level of perfection. Good service and a reasonable price, although the menu prices might be behind current food costs. Still, it was totally worth it. I didn't have a way to keep leftovers in a safe temperature range, so I ate everything. Full, but not stuffed.

From what I understand, Aria is the recent addition to the growing Persian Empire of the Super Irvine dynasty. The parents run the grocery store, the daughters run the excellent Irvine Grill restaurant, and Aria Kitchen is their latest experiment. While we didn't order any Mexican fusion food, there were some of those same flavors that really came through. The bone marrow comes with a delicious garlicky olive oil to drizzle on top. The oil has a bit of a kick to it--- chili, maybe? that evokes more of a Mexican flavor profile than an Iranian flavor profile. Some of their fresh Pita dipped in it? Life changing. We liked the kabob--- it's pretty good. However, we're spoiled by their sister restaurant, Irvine Grill. Irvine Grill still takes the crown for our favorite kabob. Aria is still a strong contender, though! The Asheh Reshteh is probably my favorite dish here (if we're talking appetizers, their bone marrow is by far one of the best apps I've had ever). It's hard to find good Asheh Reshteh, because it has to hit that balance of well-stewed but not mushy. This one was excellent. They gave us plenty of Kashk to put on top too! Where Aria shines is in its variety and consistent quality. The food is all fresh and delicious, and the flavor combo (while surprisingly not wholly uncommon----NorCal has a handful of similar Mexican-Iranian fusion spots) is so well-paired. There's a damn good reason that Samin Nosrat opted for Mexico for her show when for geopolitical reasons she was unable to film with Netflix in Iran. Both cuisines love their citrus. I can't wait to visit Aria Kitchen and dine in-restaurant!

Their menu supposedly marks items that contain gluten. One would assume the other items don't. But they have a soup with noodles - which is definitely made of wheat. They have samosas and quesadillas not marked as containing gluten, but are both made of flour. When we asked our server, he said only items with bread are marked as gluten because wheat is something some people consider gluten and others don't. This is 100% wrong. When we asked him to check with the kitchen, he walked up to the manger who simply shrugged his shoulders and sent him back with no new information. The server then just began walking away when we asked if an item was actually gluten-free (due to my allergy) and vegetarian (due to religious beliefs). He could not be bothered one bit. When we later asked the manager directly if he understands the concept of food allergies, he just shrugged his shoulders again and said: it's the responsibility of the customer not the restaurant. Well, I guess you're waiting to send a customer to the ER with false comfort and inaccurate information and only then will you understand your responsibility. Why bother then marking some items as containing gluten at all? I have not met such a jerk of a server in quite some time or such an aloof nonchalant manager. While the food was actually decent, this overall experience (after spending $120 on 3 entrees) is absolutely unacceptable. We left really disappointed at this attitude. Overall, service was horrible. The busboy kept trying to take our dishes away while we were still eating. My vegan friend got vegan cheese but my vegetarian friend who requested regular cheese was also given vegan cheese. No water refills even after requesting it. I can't believe any restaurant can survive with such horrible service. And clearly, our experience was not even an anomaly - so many others are complaining in their reviews about the bad service.
