The service we had was amazing. The guys that worked the night of Joe Rogan were super awesome. Initially we were going to order bottle service but our waiter talked us out of it because for the price, the bottle was small. So instead we still got priority front row seating and ordered a few drinks. I definitely recommend the Ahi Poke and the truffle fries as appetizers. I got a little hungry afterwards and got a Truffle burger. I wish I could've finished it but it was delicious. We ordered three LA waters as our drinks. Those were amazing as well. It pays to pay the extra for the souvenir cup. They hooked it up on the alcohol. The third LA water in a non-souvenir cup was a little watered down or we got used to the taste. I just want to point out the Colin K. (the Improv's Business Customer Service rep) has been responding to almost every Yelp review of the Improv (both positive and negative), but apparently doesn't think the experience my wife and I had of being extorted by the doorman warrants any response (public or private). Nothing to tell us, "So sorry you had that experience, we're looking into it," or even "Hey, that's how we roll, deal with it." I guess we have to assume being extorted by the doormen for more than the actual ticket price is just how the comedy club does business. Lesson learned. read more

BEYOND TERRIBLE. My husband bought tickets for Comedy for Cabo relief fundraiser held on 10-1-14. He bought Silver Tier tickets and we arrived 45 mins prior to show time. The AC was not on so while we waited 15 minutes for someone to seat us, we dripped sweat. Then when we were finally taken back to be seated, the host left us standing there for 5 mins before coming back to tell us all the silver tier seats were taken (hello, we bought those tickets a week prior and showed up 45 mins early!) so they shoved us at the very back bar area, right next to the cameras. No apologies, no offers of even a free drink after being unceremoniously shoved into whatever space they had available, despite having paid the Silver Tier price. So, we got to sit in the stifling humid heat, sweating thru our shirts for 20 minutes and NOBODY came to even offer us water. We had to grab a random server to beg for water. He took pity on us abs brought us water, but we didn't see our server until 20 mins later. The food, as always, was gross. They were out of 3 of the beer selections I asked for. The server did her best, but she was overwhelmed. They were unprepared and under staffed for the event and it was poorly handled. No apologies or anything for sticking us in seats with far less than we paid for. The new set up is ridiculous and their insistence on cramming as many bodies into the tiny venue as possible means that you get the joy of hearing every bite the stranger next to takes, as well as smelling their BO because everyone was sweating thru their clothes. All in all, it was just a bad experience. Not even having to good graces to APOLOGIZE, we decided that we will not be returning to Irvine Improv. We will go to Brea from now on. It's sad - we were always regulars at Irvine. Also, this review does not reflect the performers themselves. Each and everyone of the performances was great. Too bad the venue and service was soooo awful we ended up leaving before the end. read more

This location is nicer than the old one... better seating. However, the drinks are still hit-and-miss. First drink was great. Second was super watery. When you pay premium, you should get something good, and they should be consistent. But then again, it's just a comedy club. Just like the comedians, you get a mixture of greatness & mediocrity. We came to see Fluffy, and the show deserves more than five stars, and the waiters are awesome, they deserve the two stars I'm giving and more, but the venue is just awful. They pack you like a can of sardines, seating is perpendicular to the stage so you have to be turning to the side and see over other 5 people shoulders to try to get a glimpse of the comedian. My neck was killing me half way through the show. Also, Umami burger which is the food provider is about the most overpriced burger in south California. I don't mind paying for a good burger, but these ones are just ok but very pricey, completely overrated. We want to return but won't until they improve seating arrangements. read more

My boyfriend and I went here last Friday night. We had the most incredible time.The lineup was fabulous, each guy was so different so they made a very dynamic show. I can't decide which one I liked best. All the comedians were top notch. The headliner was named Brad and he was hilarious. We were in stitches the entire evening. We went to the Improv last night and saw Todd Glass. He was hands down the worst comic I have ever seen. His entire show completely bombed and people were walking out mid show in droves. His angry shtick, his band... nothing was working. He exhibited extremely unprofessional behavior with a heckler which may have affected his performance but truly this man was not funny in the least. The employees managing the front and the customers gathering outside after walking out all agreed that this comic should not have been booked as the Friday night headliner. Great venue, good food, good comedy, but gets two stars because it is NOT IMPROV. I went expecting to see an IMPROV show, ie, Improvisational comedy. This was stand up comedy. This is my 2nd time to the improv in 2 weeks. I would have never come the 2nd time, however, my company had an event, so I thought that I would give it another try. Long story short. The service is terrible. It took 30 min to get a drink 2 different times. Staff is unorganized, and I left early both times. 65 people in my group the second time, and 5 or 6 people didn't even get to order food. They didn't know who's food was who's. Absolute joke. This place is a mess. Take your date somewhere else. read more

We came here to see Jo Koy who was hilarious! He even stayed on stage 20 minutes longer! He doesn't seem to follow a routine and plays to the audience so you won't get the same act twice. The place was packed so if you see him then get there early. If you come with a group and not everyone is there, they will give you a table if you have all the tickets and have 50% of your group. The Improv lets you in early if you want to eat dinner which is what we did to escape the crowds and get a good seat. As to the food, I have to update my review about the food, it wasn't very good overall. We got the French fries, buffalo wings and the chicken fluatas. The wings didn't have the tangy flavor like buffalo wings should and one of the pieces looked like they forgot to pluck the feather! The chicken fluatas had this sweet flavor and the seasoning combination they used didn't taste good. The fries though were excellent and I liked the mayo that went with fries even though I'm not a big mayo person. Our waiter was on top of things and even comped us our fries when it came out late. Great customer service. They do push their drinks and I got a beer instead of one of their mixed drinks because at about $15 each that was too much for me. Also their sodas are $10 for all you can drink. read more

The comedians tonight we're mostly average. There was one however, that stood out as just HORRIBLE. If he is in your line-up, save your time and just leave. His name was Daryl, not sure on the last name. Did not laugh even once. He could not even complete his time slot, kept asking the audience if they were okay. His comedy style was to make fun of people, especially women of different nationalities. Lots of stereotypical jokes that were just not funny. On the other hand, there was a younger comedian that was a great entertainer, I really wish I could remember his name. He joked about himself and how "skinny" he was. Came out on a Thursday night to see Pablo Francisco. Enjoyed my time and my food drinks and service. There was a small hiccup with the service but luckily my husband went to one of the hosts and she told our waiter. Our waiter rectified the situation without me having to ask. I appreciate his attentiveness when he realized he forgot to place my order along with everyone else. He also gave me a free desert which was very appreciated!!
