WHERE TO BEGIN. I've been living in Irvine since February officially and have been on the hunt for theeeee nail spot in town that had quality without breaking the bank. Let me tell you I went to a nail salon prior to this that charged $$$$ in a nice area that I thought would give me quality nails (sadly disappointed all of them lifted and gave me issues I never had before) Today was my FIRST and not my last trip to Irvine Spa. He paired me with JUDY who I shared my nail inspo with and both of them helped me select my nail color as I wanted something girly but glittery for the holiday season! (judy even offered to hand paint freely a snowflake on the ring finger and was so detailed - everyone around me and myself were amazed she even added sparkle in the center! This salon has got to be the MOST sanitized I've ever seen. I've never been to a salon where the light for the gel didn't have paint stains on it. They clean and sanitize all their tools after EACH FREAKIN CLIENT. As a first timer, I'm conflicted because the nails turned out great and I've gotten compliments...but the experience wasn't great. I told them I had an appointment and wanted to do a manicure (even though I'd called in the morning to do a mani-pedi). The lady was frustrated and short with me that I didn't want the pedicure. Apparently they had mistaken me for someone else who had just called for a pedi and the lady later apologized to me for this mistake. However, when she was cleaning my cuticles, she managed to miss and push back skin, causing me to bleed. It stung like a paper cut throughout my session, as well as the rest of the night. The nails turned out nice, but $50 for a dip powder manicure is a bit out of my range. Her roughness with my cuticles did not make me feel any better either. I did not have cash, and like the other people stated in their reviews, I paid with Venmo... The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because of the compliments I've gotten on my nails so far. Got my nails done for the first time for a wedding. I booked an appointment with Raymond based off of reviews. Even though mine was just a basic gel manicure on my real nails, he took his time on them as he spent 1.5 hours on it. Super gentle and detail oriented. He spent a lot of time making sure all my nails were shaped perfectly even gave a nice hand massage after. Overall, I'm very impressed and would highly recommend this place. I was super disappointed with my experience here. My friend and I wanted to get pedicures and we made the appointment for 2 people and they were surprised when we wanted to sit together(?) so it already didn't start off too promising. And then while sitting down both of our waters in the foot bowl were super cold and it took them a long time to get hot water. As the pedicure continued, they didn't have a lot of the same treatment that I used to get with basic pedicures at other places. Not hot towels, no massage, no nothing. When it came down to painting my toe nails, she also didn't know how to paint toe nails and did it all, then ended up wiping it all off ??? She asked one of her colleagues to do it for her instead. It just shows how inexperienced they are and the lack of services they provide for a basic pedicure that cost a whopping $30. The only saving grace is that at least the workers were sweet. read more

I got my valentines nail today. I use to go to Irvine nail to Holly for my nail done, but she quit last year. I've been doing my nail my self for a year since she gone. It was so tired and took so long every time. One of my client recommended Shanti to me and she said Shanti is the best. I just call this morning for getting an appointment for gel pedicure and full set nail. It was 3pm appointment, they didn't make me to wait even a minute which is very impressive. During getting nail full set, other lady give me a pedi service which was very gentle and detail whole time. Shanti did cuticle care service first and full tip extensions with acrylic. Her coffin shaping was perfect. She has to leave me to get another customer after me, I totally understand cause it was such short time request to get an appointment on same day. I hate writing reviews in general, but I've been here a total of 3 times and every time they break skin on my big toe. I only go because my friend likes the place and I always think I'll get a different person who won't cut me but it never happens. When they start cleaning up the polish with acetone I am physically cringing in pain. Sorry for the very gross photo, but I paid $45 cash for the pedicure plus a $15 tip (I feel bad if I don't tip for a service). I want to like this salon really badly! It's literally 2 minutes from my house. Pros: fast service, decent quality work, decent quality supplies, appointments easy to get. Cons: incredibly pricey- basic gel manicure and pedicure over $80, nails chipped in less than a week. Techs do not acknowledge requests. I would come back for pedicures, but 2 times now I've been dissatisfied with my manicures so I will not be returning for that - and I cannot justify spending an egregious amount for basic services when other salons can do what I'd like and more for lower cost. read more

They used to be so much better. I made an appointment for 2 gel, 1 acrylic and 3 pedis on the weekend before memorial day weekend for myself, my sister and my mother. My sister's hand technician actually argued with my sister over a bubble on one of the fingers and how it was nothing. Another technician came by and they both talked about it in Vietnamese for a few minutes. The original technician then fixed it. The massage on the other gel was cut short when they had a few people drop in. I never got a massage - maybe acrylics doesn't get one? The polish on the acrylic wasn't that great - now I wish I had taken a pic. Each technician got ~20% tip, but we will not be back. You just don't argue with your customer when you clearly messed up. I can't say that they rushed other people, but there was a female getting acrylics who sat down before us and was there the entire time. She was clearly a regular and got the full treatment. The most annoying part was the male owner/manager asked how everything was as we were leaving. I just smiled and walked out. read more

Kathy is the best! I called and asked if they do powder manicures and made an appointment for the same day. I came in a little ahead of my scheduled time of 5:30PM and was greeted nicely. I was provided a variety of colors for the powder and picked one that was really pretty. I sat down with Kathy at my appointed time and she began her work. Make sure to ask for price beforehand... Gel-X is $75 here (not including a basic design, which was $15). I had Raymond, and from what i read from reviews online he was good at design and Gel-X. I had my old Gel-X taken off, and brought 3 different designs that he said he couldn't do. I understood, so I instead opted for a more basic design (white french tip with a line border). Then after 3 hours he told me the price was $90 for the nails. I asked him what the break down was for everything and when I told him to next time state the prices before starting, he just said that because I've had Gel-X before he assumed I knew the price and moved on to his next client. Clearly an oversight on my part, but I've had Gel-X from many different places from areas that are much more expensive than Irvine for $70-80 (including much more intricate designs). He said he could do one of the reference photos I brought, but it wasn't until the tips were on that he told me that the design would look different (I asked for a design that involved a nude color, and they only have one nude/pink color that would definitely show through the extension, which I didn't want). By then the tips were already on my nails so I couldn't just leave, which is why I opted for a basic design. My experience with him also seemed to be different than what I read online. Reviews said he was really nice and friendly, but it was anything but. He got frustrated when I showed him the reference pictures and told me to just pick out the colors rather than him trying to match it (which I understand, but he said it in a very rude manner). While he was doing my nails, he would show me the design to make sure I was satisfied with it before it went under the light, but when I gave suggestions he would tell me it's not possible because x y z reasons and then do it anyway. I'll be very clear here though in that I'm speaking only for Gel-X with Raymond, since he is the only one at this salon who can do Gel-X. I've had great experiences with the other employees here when I was doing gel and acrylic nails. I came here wanting a certain type of design, and walked out with a basic design that I had to settle for that costed me much more than any other place I've been to and got treated much more hostile than any other place I've been to. I'm a college student who has always done my best to be patient and kind to people who work in salons. This experience made me so upset and I was extremely displeased with his handling of the situation, so I just wanted to provide a warning to folk who're looking to do Gel-X here. TLDR; If you're looking to do Gel-X, this is definitely not the place. There are much more affordable places that can give you what you want. read more
