COVID-era review: don't expect more than 15% of people here to wear masks; most staff did while most attendees didn't. I know next to nothing about racing, but I would encourage anyone looking for a fun night out to check out this racetrack. They have events for racetrack fans, drag strip lovers, car enthusiasts, and people like me who like experiencing new things but aren't particularly interested in cars. I love coming here for their Night of Destruction events (parking $10 cash). I used to come here when they had Groupons every once in a while for go-kart racing which was fun. Haven't seen that in years, though. Irwindale Speedway has some history. It was almost demolished for an outlet mall (ugh) but has been under new management the last few years. I really hope it stays around for a while. I know nothing about cars and am not really interested in them, but I have a lot of fun with friends and family when I come here. What is Night of Destruction? It can be a family event, an interesting date night, or a fun evening with friends. Tickets are about $20 a person and the main events usually start at 7:00 pm. The first half or so is watching cars race. There are different races which have different car types and numbers of laps. This is mild fun for me. I do remember being surprised at how engaging it was my first time here, but I'm not the biggest racetrack fan. The remaining half of the night is races where cars/vehicles/RVs (depending on the night) may fall apart and hit each other. There are many types of fun and I haven't seen them all. Here are a few: Skid plate races: Say goodbye to back tires and watch racers go around the inner track. Cars will spin out and may lead to pile-ups. Trailer races: Watch cars with decorated trailers hitched to them try to destroy each other and drive into debris. Nothing as satisfying as hearing a car drive into a hitched boat and hearing the crunch. RV races: Watch RV trailers drive around and possibly hit each other. The night closes out with some awesome fireworks, which are a great show every time and surprisingly good quality. If you want to see a good firework show outside of July 4th or New Year's, Irwindale Speedway's Night of Destruction (and maybe other nights) will have you covered. There are food (popcorn, nachos, bbq, nuts, etc.), souvenirs, and you can usually meet the drivers for photos and autographs before the event (starting 6:00 pm). No outside food/drink allowed except a sealed bottle of water, I think. Exiting the parking lot at night can be a hassle. Some people get inspired by the night's events and speed past/cut in line the haphazardly organized back exit. The main exit/entrance is more organized but slower. Super fun entertainment at a reasonable price! Night of Destruction happens around July 4th and it goes OFF! A wide variety of racing and fun, guaranteed laughs and amazement. Jet car, skid plate races, motorhome demolition, and fireworks! I believe there is another NoD night in the fall, as well. Motorhome Mayhem is a fun night of Nascar racing with late model cars, late late model cars, midgets, motorhomes with boat trailers on the figure 8 track, and also fireworks! Other special race nights include drags, VW races, antiques, trucks. Get your redneck on and go have a blast!! Plenty of food vendors and the food is DELICIOUS, however the lines are ridiculously long as most vendors only have one window open. Beer booths also available for you to partake. If there were a way to minimize the wait time, it would be worth it. I mean, waiting in line for corn and you miss 2 sets of races. No bueno. No lines at the restrooms though. Hmm.. Parking is a bit of a walk. There is handicapped and VIP parking though, which is closer. You can bring your own snacks and drinks to take into the stands. Stands are bleacher style with backs. Elevators can take you to the higher levels, which may be helpful to you. Sound system is a bit shoddy but that kinda goes with the whole atmosphere, so it's all good y'all. Old racetrack, could use quite a bit of work, but cool to see the types of events they are hosting. I waited 2+ hours in line for the Mooneyes New Years Party 2023 and parked on the actual track (cool, but not ADA friendly or convenient). Lots of great cars to look at, amazing local food options, good displays, plenty of space, nice dragstrip. Would love to see this place in action for Nascar races or something similar. As a Floridian, California car communities sure do it different out here. I will be back to see more! read more

Came here for the Santa Speedway event. It was definitely a great venue for the family. Lots of lights to see, and you can enjoy smores, hot cocoa, food, alcohol, and do some sledding (5 rides for $10). Definitely a fun experience, especially if you've never been to the speedway before. I purchased my tickets during the cyber monday sale so they were only $17 each. I think if I had paid the $34/ticket I would have been disappointed as you may casually walk through the event in less than 30 minutes. Adding on the sledding, hot chocolate, and smores to the experience were all extra but made the trip well worth it. read more

Been here a few times for a few different activities. They have everything here from drive thru Xmas light show, car races, track racing, 1/8th of a mile, car shows, and drifting. Mostly come put for the car shows and it's a huge place to accommodate big or small events. Parking - If it's a big event and parking is full they will have shuttle service to a remote location that will take you about 30 to 45 min each way and that's annoying and a buzz kill. Overall it's a chill place and will come back unless I have to do the shuttle thing again. read more

I actually really like this track. To be fair, it's ghetto and needs a ton of work, but I think it adds to it's charm. I've been to a few tracks and what I think they do best here are the vendors. The food is incredible, so much variety and the Irwindale speedway merch is actually reasonably priced and quality. The decor was spot on, everything that was advertised was delivered. 4 story high Santa on a moving sled, race car reindeer, snow sledding & Christmas lights galore ! They even had a row of fire pits you can stand around if cold. Pretty pricey, but a memory that will last a life time. $25 for adults, $15 for kids entry. $10 for 3 runs down the snow hill. $14 for a beer or truly. $6 hot chocolate. $20 for a photo with Santa taken by your personal cellphone. Every Thursday night one can run their car on the 1/8 mile drag strip for $30.00. If your lucky you will get 3 runs in. If you just want to watch its $10.00. Cash only so bring the green stuff. If you plan on sharing a car be sure to have everyone get a wristband. Just remember to wear long pants to race. Exactly one year later and my build is a little faster which is good enough for me. Came here for Fabulous Ford Forever and it was HUGE. Lots a space for all the Ford vehicles, we even got see some drifting.. our little man LOVED it! It does get really hot here during the summer so bring some umbrellas and lots of water with ice to keep you hydrated! They do drifting on Thursday nights as well! read more

First time for everything and today was a first for me. Being able to attend formula drift for the final round was super freaking awesome. So many cool cars and rad drivers and awesome gear here! It was pretty freaking hot when we arrived around 10:30am. The place wasn't open yet but drivers were practicing so we could peep thru the fence and check that out while we waited. Parking was only $10 but if you bring a motorcycle, it's free. Once inside, there were vendors all over selling gear and different types of products from wheels, to pistons, to clothing, and much more. Food was also available. Not too expensive like at a basketball or baseball game either. We walked around for a bit to find drivers and their drift cars. We were able to talk to James Dean and Piotr Weicek who drove the S15s. Dudes were super cool and chill. James was twice the size of me lol. We copped some gear from them and went off to get seated for the drifting to begin. Our seats were unfortunately in the sun but the day we decided to go was a slower day for the events since it was just the qualifying round. We ended up sitting way up top in the stands where there was shade. It was perfect. We weren't burning up from the sun and a nice breeze was flowing thru. It was a great view as well. Being a Pasadena kid and an Arcadia adult, I've always wondered what the Irwindale Speedway was all about. Certainly, I've driven past here countless times, watched fireworks shows as I drove past on the 605, and remember hearing the roaring engines when we used to sneak down into one of the adjacent gravel pits as kids to moonlight fish for largemouth bass (there's some big fish in there, but you know, trespassing laws...) When our Cub Scout pack decided to sign on for a family trip for Night of Destruction, I didn't know what to expect: monster trucks? "Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!"? Explaining "import girls" to my 6 year old daughter? I was pleasantly surprised by the low-brow but pleasant family atmosphere of the place. It has all the blue collar charm of a Friday football game in a midwestern town, but with a little more edge, complete with a snack bar run by kids from one of the local high schools, a garage band playing at the entrance, and big metal bleachers. Hot dogs and hamburgers, nachos, semi-flat fountain drinks, and cold beer (they tend not to sell those at HS football, but you get the vibe.) This is not an expensive night: $5 parking, $7 tickets (we got a group rate, and paid something like $2.50/person), and food was "snack bar" prices. There were some "county fair" style food booths like ribs and BBQ, but we didn't bother checking it out. The barker did his best to get the crowd into it throughout the night, coming out onto the track between races to interview the winners, welcome different groups for the evening, and get people into it. Several races featured amateur drivers in beater cars tricked out with bad rattlecan paint jobs and non-street legal add ons-- I don't think there was a muffler in the place, and only the occasional brake light. Definitely the Concourse d'Craigslist... but watching them race around, crash, blow up, catch fire... it was entertaining like a live action YouTube instant justice vid. Definitely some good drivers out there, with some serious drifting and racing skills... and then, there were a couple of drivers in cars that seemed only to be out there to create an additional driving hazard and add to the comic relief of the evening. One legit race featured trucks, but most of the night was those awesome front wheel drive beaters... including a rear-wheel sled drift race with lots of sparks and crashes and spin outs , a figure 8 intersection race, a trailer race, and a demolition derby. One of those drivers was a guy my wife went to high school with. Can't beat that for laughs on the drive home. The night also featured a truck with a jet engine/afterburner on it, that was used to torch another beater car. The car had been filled with newspapers and trash, so it rained paper and ash for more than 2 hours. Hilarious... and thankfully, recent rains kept anyone from worrying about fire danger. Overall, the kids had fun watching the automotive high jinx, the adults had a laugh or two, and I finally got to answer the question of what's on the other side of those grandstands. Definitely something to try once in your life for the experience... excellent people watching, you can leave early if you want to, and who knows? You might like it. read more

To see cars to on fire,crush, and destruction and mayhem on family night,boy they lots of destruction but it was funny to watch these dare devil bash each other for the entertainment like ole Roman days hey nobody does hurts it just for fun. They were monsters they awesome crushing cars and running over trailers that was so cool. They was a contest someone will win a 2018 Ford F 150 truck it was a go cart challenge but the winner will face NASCAR driver Greg Biffle for the Ford F150 Greg Biffle won the match. They also have a BBQ I mean roasted a car by jet power truck. Jet engine was so loud and burning thrust and seeing the cars melt aways due to the heat that fun. And then the fireworks show was really amazing while they were rock n roll music in background. We have a great time and enjoy the show,we will come back again. read more

Went here for Night of Destruction on 3/10/18 it was raining so my experience may be different. There was practically no line to get in we arrived a half hour early and found plenty of parking. My friend that goes regularly said that it can take up to an hour on a normal day to get in, so be prepared. Even though it was raining we stated dry by sitting up higher in the stands where there was an overhand. They serve beer and food, the typical kind you find at sporting events. Just glad that they didn't close down the Speedway as rumored this year, so come down and watch a race! It's hard to describe Night of Destruction. Just reinforced bare-bones cars that compete in various races like the Figure 8, Skid Plate, Flagpole, and Trailer race. The crowd favorite is the Trailer race, cars just pull a trailer and it could be anything on it from another car to a boat. The goal is to be the last car a trailer and/or destroy all others. In the end, the track is just left a mess with debris littered everywhere, overall an entertaining show of narrow misses and spectacular collisions so it makes sense that the sponsor is a recycler of used car and trucks. This event is such a good deal I got a ticket for $16.50, which is comparable to what a movie ticket goes for these days and got hours of entertainment. The events change from time to time, that night they set a car on fire with a jet engine strapped to the back of a truck! You just have to be there in person to appreciate the scream of the engines as they go around the track. Great fun for all ages, saw many families with young children. read more

How in the world does Irwindale Speedway receive the permits and permission to have a loud, obnoxious fireworks show after 10pm on so many occasions? The fireworks can be heard in all directions for miles as my neighbors and I can attest to on Nextdoor. All I have to say is I love this track. Totally fun for the family if they love things that roll with motors. It's a small place compared to other tracks in the SoCal region but size doesn't matter. If you're into motor sports and racing you'd know this is a hidden gem for things like stock car, drag, endeuro and drift. I was here with my family yesterday and it was sooo fun, the night ended with a huge fireworks show that's very close to the grand stands but large showers of spectacular explosions in the sky. Gotta love bing in the middle of an industrial rock quart area. If you go early prior to the races they may have autograph sessions on the track which happened for us. The food selection was decent for a local venue and there was $2 draft beer. Can't complain there! read more

Was here for the Night Nation Run held on Saturday. We got there right when they opened and it was our first time doing this event at this particular venue. We checked in and got our racing packets before entering this big open area near the stands and race track. The big area housed the main DJing stage where the main party and after race party would be. There were a bunch of vendors and booths along the edges of the space as well as a good number of port-o-potties to use. In the area next door where I guess you go through with your ticket stubs housed the concession stand and other food vendors that ranged from bacon wrapped hotdogs to BBQ related meals. The space where the main stage was was definitely big enough to house thousands of us racers for the night as we got pumped up for the race. The race actually startred underneath the stands and went along side the race track and through the parking lots outside. We got to pass actual restrooms, wrecked cars, watched some cars speed around the track and back through again since we had to do the lap twice to hit 5k for the race. It was a fun experience and my boyfriend and I got to snag a lot of free swag throughout the night. Just wished that the race didn't require us to do the same track twice, but it did help with picture opportunities the second time :) read more

We took our 7 year old Son to the Christmas light show tonight and he had so much fun! Loved the scavenger hunt, the Christmas music, and of course all of the amazing lights! My Husband let him sit on his lap and "drive" (you go very slow) the detail was really amazing and the stations were so cute! There was a Christmas Sweet Shop, Santa's RV Park/Lake, a ocean scene, huge Light tree in the middle of the track, reindeer stable (with all the race cars in stalls decorated and named so cute!) Santa, and my favorite the rainbow light tunnel! Music was super fun and the staff was so nice and welcoming! We really had a blast and it was worth the $59! Thank you! read more

To help end 2020 on a good note, took the family to see the lights at the Irwindale Speedway. This year was different for us as we normally tour the lights in Bixby Knolls, however we found enjoyment in the spectical the was put on at this location. Great assortment of lights music and am experience that can be viewed and experience while being safe considering the circumstances. A great way to experience NASCAR at a value price, especially if you're a first-timer. Most of my group of friends had never seen a speedway race and Irwindale Speedway was convenient, affordable and fun. Too bad it is being shut down into an outlet mall in 2016! If you're looking to get your first NASCAR experience here, go this summer! My friend bought a Groupon that came with four admissions, four hot dog meals (dog, drink, chips) and four go-kart rides at the facility right within the speedway. The overall race experience included four different races, from 7 pm until 11pm. The first three races were 30 laps each. We saw the Inex Legend cars first, which looked not unlike Mini Cooper vehicles and there were also low rider trucks for the third race. Each race they just start right away, except for the fourth and final race which was the main act with 100 laps and included an introduction showcase of the drivers before they got their cars running. As a newbie, you'll pick up the rules pretty fast (principally what each color flag is and why the cars have to regularly slow down under a yellow flag when debris gets in the track or if there is a collision). I suggest buying a program as you walk in the entrance (just one per group is good) so you have the lineup in your hands as well as more information about the races. Also, if you have an autograph on certain pages, then you'll win a prize! There's also a free autograph session at some point (before the races start?). If it's your birthday then you can also win a prize -- seven people won steak dinners when we were there. The experience is very affordable and family friendly! I was surprised that all the drinks and food were pretty cheap here -- like $4 for nachos, $3.50 for a hot dog, $2 for hot chocolate (which we needed because we were freezing after a while). Beers were $6 and they had Bud/Coors Light and 805 craft beer. Admission tickets are $10 advance purchase online or $15 at the door. The adjacent parking lot was easy and it was not a hassle to get in and out quickly! TIP: Definitely bring foam ear plugs!! You will need it for the last race when the fastest, loudest, most powerful engines are running the race. Also, bundle up A LOT as it gets very cold sitting on aluminum bleacher seats outdoors next to the track. read more
