No changing tables is my biggest gripe. I didn't want to change my baby on the cent ground & the EMTs were nice enough to let me use the bed of their cart. WTF, Irwindale. Moving on from that...I love the drift and derby events. The parking is ample and there's a good variety of food to choose from, from the rin of the mill nachos to the kettle corn! :) They have a few beer options & it wasn't horribly over priced. Don't waste your money and time to this Holiday event "Santa's Speedway Christmas Lights". We picked a time and we've been in line for 2 hours just to get in. I feel bad because kids who get so excited to see the lights just to have them wait. This event is chaotic and is in disarray. In my two hour wait, I seen one person directing traffic, people pissing in the bushes and people constantly cutting people off like they can't wait like the rest of us. I went to a Speedway Christmas Light Show in Las Vegas and they had their stuff together. This place is not worth coming and you're better off walking around your own neighborhood looking at lights than coming to this place! Just last week I had it in my mind that I had not been to Irwindale Speedway in a long, long time. I selected last night to be the first time in a very long while that I would not only spectate, but I would actually run on the track too. I arrived around 4:30pm with a full tank of gas, a clean car and my $20 entry fee. I pulled through the gates, made my left turn and came to a stop to pay my entry fee. I rolled down my window and was greeted. "Welcome to the track. Watch or race?" "Race" I haven't said those words in even longer. I have raced my 1969 Mercury Cougar here in the past, but that poor car has been disassembled for the last 2 years in the quest to make it faster. This was the first visit to the track with my "beater" 1994 Ford Mustang GT. I pulled into tech and filled out my sheet. The car is basically stock so passing was a breeze. I got the go ahead, so I decided to pull into the staging lanes and wait for 5:00pm so they would start running. The line then started to move and the sound of the first cars doing their burnouts. The sound took me back. The sight of two competitors at the line lighting up their tires was a look back into my not-too-distant past. The smell of the VHT, the sweet memories produced by the acrid smell of the burning rubber. The noise and the anticipation of your chance at the tree. It was just as I remembered and I knew I was going to enjoy it. My turn comes and I pull the Mustang into the water box. I get the go ahead to warm up my tires. I bark them lightly, and stage. Oops.... Too far. I shift into reverse and do my dance of shame back to the tree. Hey, it's been a while. As I stage, a pretty modified Acura is in the left lane. We are going heads up and I sit there and then the lights start to do down yellow yellow yellow GO! I hit the tree and go. No wheel spin and a mild bog. Ahh shit. Oh well, punch it and don't lift until I shift. 6K comes up and it's time to drop to second. I slam it to the next gear and make a pretty decent shift. These 5.0L Mustangs seem to shift easier when you really wring them out. My 2.73s do their best to remind me that they aren't the best suited to drag racing. I keep it in second until I hit the traps and then hard on the brakes so I can hit the first turnout. My competitor in the next lane was a bit faster than me and edged me out by a couple of lengths. Oh well, I can take a loss. My adrenaline is going and pull down the return road to collect my timeslip. 9.91 @ 73.74 mph. Not bad for a stock 17 year old 5.0L with 151K miles and a shitty driver. I'll be back. I can do better. read more

I came here because a friend of mine had FREE tickets and FREE entertainment is always good in our state of the economy. Being that this was my first visit to Irwindale Speedway, I was expecting something as large as the California Speedway...I was so wrong. But it was still a great time! By the way, in 2009, the NEW name of the place is the "Toyota Speedway at Irwindale," but I digress....onto my review..... The track is a half mile oval and with two inner tracks within the half mile oval. The grand stands fit up to 6000 spectators. The concessions are the normal high price of a stadium concessionaire, but you will have to go to the mom & pop food booths for better priced food. I had sweet white buttered corn, warm kettle corn, and funnel cakes for less than $12...decent stadium type food. And OH YEAH...NOTE TO SELF...for NEXT TIME you are allowed to bring one bottled drink and food item with you so you don't have to spend at the concession stands. I am not the biggest NASCAR fan by any stretch of the imagination, but there is definitely a good time to be had if you visit the Irwindale Speedway. The Irwindale Speedway is the home of the NASCAR-Whelan series Saturday races. The Figure 8 races was funny & scary at the same time, as I saw one scary crash this past weekend that brought out the Jaws of Life. One more note to the newbs of NASCAR racing who have never been a racing event before, the higher the seat, the better off you are. Although at this venue it should not be a problem, but it is something to think about if you are thinking of going. read more

Everything about our experience was fantastic. Easy parking, cheap tickets, good food, reasonable prices for alcohol, and so much fun! We went down onto the track to see the cars and meet the drivers, they were so friendly and even gave out candy and let the kids sit in the cars. Smiles and hand shakes for everyone. The races were fast and exciting, the roar of the engines, the squeal of the tires and the smell of burnt rubber and gasoline made the night come alive. My son had a smile that lasted well into his sleep, and I must admit that I did too. Yes this was our first visit here, but no, it will not be our last. Thanks to everyone at Irwindale Raceway, The announcers, the people at the concession stands, the lady at the kids jumpers, the fans in attendance and especially the all the drivers for making this such a memorable night. read more

I love this place. It's an old school paved oval and a drag strip. Reminds me of Rockford Speedway in northern Illinois.

Color run -color fun fest 5K seemed a bit unorganized- 1) when picking up the bib they had a hard time searching for things and the wait is long because they are not efficient. 2) comunication on the email- they send us the day of the run to tell us where and how to get to the parking lot. 3) on one email it was no charge and then when we get there they charge us $10 for parking 4) not enough entrance for the parking lot so it was blocking up the streets. So make sure to give yourself enough time to park. 5)They had only one specific area that had us go through the color powder. Wish it was multiple spots. We did do a color toss at the beginning but they only gave us one packet to use. I did have fun but they have to do some more tweaking so then it could go more smoother. read more

I happened to take a walk down memory lane on the internet and learned they are still have stock car racing. They don't have racing every weekend so check the schedule. Unfortunately this place is now closing and I'm pretty sad. Irwindale Speedway has always been one of those nostalgic places growing up as a kid in the SGV. I am a huge automotive enthusiast and knowing this place is closing is pretty unfortunate. Yes, we do have ACS and Willow but they're quite further than Irwindale Speedway. I've come here for numerous car shows and events over the years and just recently was here for Formula Drift. This place is a lot more affordable than ACS but smaller. If you haven't watched Nascar here or one of the derby nights do yourself a favor and stop by. The drag nights are pretty cool to see as well. Lots of different food selection, very affordable for a venue. You can hardly ever go wrong with King Taco either! read more

Went here for the midget races on Thanksgiving and had a blast, albeit a freezing blast, it was still a blast. There is a nice variety of food options, but I didn't indulge since I had just inhaled my turkey dinner at home. The facility is very clean and is kept-up well, which is a welcome change from other race facilities. Getting in and out of the parking lot was super easy (I would advise parking far back from the entrance so you can make a quick getaway) and the freeway entrance is a stone's throw away. I just wish they hosted non-Nascar events more often throughout the year. read more

I have been here a couple of times to watch the races. When I've been here it hasn't gotten packed but there is still a good crowed. They have food vendors Inside so that you don't go hungry or thirsty. The bathrooms and arena is clean. When you walk up to the bleachers you can sit anywhere you like, there is no arranged seating. The best part is watching the actual races. They show different types of vehicles racing and if your there with a group you can make it fun by betting on cars ahead of time you think may be on the top 3. I was there with a friend and I we both made bets on cars and whom ever lost had to pay for dinner. I lost of course and paid for dinner but the experience was fun and something different than the ordinary. read more

The racing is fabulous BUT the food lines are ridiculous, there is only one bar for drinks with one girl tending, that line takes at least a HALF hour or more to get a drink, the popcorn line same story, we did not even attempt at any other food, we just left. What a great place for a Saturday night. Affordable tickets, wide variety of seating, and free autograph session to get up close and personal with the cars on the track before the action starts! Talk about an overall great experience! I have recently been attending races on Saturday nights regularly here and I have yet to be disappointed with my experiences at Irwindale Speedway. The high intensity, adrenaline pumping action is always sure to deliver on a weekly basis. The wide variety of vehicles that race at the track keeps things entertaining and the audience engaged. The staff is friendly and the announcer provides insightful information about the car drivers and information about racing itself. My only complaint is that it can be difficult to hear the announcer during the race due to the loud engines, but I don't think it is an issue they should fix because personally, the sounds of the cars zooming by is pure bliss. I highly recommend visiting this track at least once, plus they usually have special going on like, Back to School Night, or Night of Destruction! :) read more

I have been a racing fan all my life & if my love for stock car racing makes me a redneck then so be it! Although I watch NASCAR on TV from time to time, my real passion & interest is attending & supporting local short track racing. Irwindale Speedway has been on my must visit list for sometime now. After visiting their website, I decided that the September 10, 2016 First Responders Night event would be the best one to attend. Tickets are general admission & are available online at the discounted price of $10 or &15 at the track. You can receive a $1.50 off admission at the ticket office if you have a AAA membership. Parking is $5 & is cash only. Irwindale Speedway made quite an impression on me upon first arrival. First thing I noticed was a nice & well lit spacious parking lot that was easy to enter in & exit out off. No dark dirt & gravel lots with huge potholes that lie in wait to wreck your cars suspension or to knock off your muffler & tailpipes here! The next thing that caught my eye was the towering grandstand. This grandstand looked like it belonged at the Daytona International Speedway or a similar Sprint Cup Track. The aluminum bleachers had seat backs which provided good back support which was a nice bonus. No teeter tottering on a old creaky wooden bleacher hoping not to get a splinter before the night was over was a nice change of pace. Also there were press boxes available for those who desire to watch a race in style. Using the restrooms at a racetrack can be quite an adventure. Having to urinate in a piss trough, smelling urinals that reek to high hell of piss & having toilets that are clogged with "brown trout" is pretty much a way of life as a race fan but not at Irwindale Speedway! Thier restrooms were amazing & exceeded all expectations! They were ultra clean, smelled fresh & were well maintained. They even had an attendant who kept everything clean, orderly & sanitary at all times. The concession stands offered a nice variety of food at a very reasonable price. The event I attended "First Responders Night" had as a special promotion: $1 sodas, $1 hotdogs & $2 beers. Well truthfully, at those prices I wasn't expecting much but was I ever wrong! For just a buck, I got a soda that was in a cup roughly the size of a medium sized drink at Mc Donald's & it was not flat or watered down! The hot dog was the same size of a 7-11's Big Bite & it was quite good & did I mention it was only a dollar! The $2 beers were Miller Lite or Coors Light...not my brand but hey, they were cold & only $2 bucks so how could you go wrong? I believe they also had a craft beer in a bottle for $6. Before the race, fans were invited to go on the track for a "Meet & Greet" session. Here you can get autographs, talk to the drivers & check out the racing machines. Everyone is friendly & very approachable. Irwindale Speedway is different from other tracks in that they do not have time trials or heat races for the spectators to see. Qualifying is done before the gates open to the public. When the racing action start at 7pm, they go straight to the main events for all the divisions. This does not distract from the racing action however. All the main events were between 30 to 50 laps in length so I felt I got my monies worth of racing by the end of the night. The track itself is a half mile banked oval so cars are able to maintain high speeds in the straights & in the turns. Irwindale is also a multi groove track which means cars are able to find grip down low or up high on the racing surface. One word of caution: The Pick Your Part Super Late Models are the fastest class of cars at the speedway & as an result, they are very loud as they roar down the straights. If you have kids in tow or are sensitive to loud noise, you may want to bring ear muffs to the track or sit higher in the bleachers to deflect some of the sound. Overall, Irwindale Speedway is truly a first class racing facility & is a must see for racing fans. Highly recommended! read more

My 100th reviews of 2015 ! Irwindale Speedway is a small speedway located in Irwindale. One of very few remain one left in Los Angeles. It is sad to know that this speedway will get demolished next year and replaced by a outlet malls. I personally much rather see stay than to see another mall. The decision is voted by the city councils not the people just a noted. I came here recently and is my first time, despite is very close to my area. Irwindale Speedway doesn't really advertised so a lot people never heard of them, unless you are into racing. Irwindale Speedway is very affordable in term of their price, a lot less compare to Fontana. It is a lot smaller but is good for first timer and experience Nascar ! Trust me first time watching Nascar is really quite something, I haven't see Formula 1 yet so can't really compare. Food is also affordable but a lot of selection. if you haven't been to this speedway and live close by. You should really visited here, only like 6 races left before it get demolished. read more

DRAG RACES!!! But I came here for Formula D! Drift events are freakin' awesome especially in the pit area, but I guess now that I think of it in the eyes of others it can be quite scary. The pit is usually in the corn where drivers drift so be prepared to get dirty, exhaust and rubber in your face, LITERALLY I'm so not kidding. The event is dope and so is this place. Huge bleachers for seating to watch any of the events that go down here but in the summer wear SUN SCREEN the sun sets facing these bleaches, perfect place to get a tan! Besides their obviously amazing raceway, they have a bunch of random food stands, one to note, KING TACO! Of course at carnival prices. Throughout the place depending on the event things vary, there is a huge lot around the venue at times they have a car show during an event or what not. But then again the parking lot is a car show since people line up their cars project cars along the entrance. I think parking was $10? But there weren't any ins & outs, so if you leave and want to come back you have to pay again. But I'd have to say this place is dope for car events. Formula D was crazy awesome, drifting in general wait not just drifting but cars + speed = awesomeness!! read more

Great instructors, well organized, they really make it fun and well worth it! From beginning to end, everyone at LA Racing were friendly and professional. They really made the day a fun one. Everyone was very enthusiastic and made it a point to make sure that you have a positive experience. They give you all the proper instructions prior to hopping into your own stock car. 500+HP machine, hugging the road as you make the turns at 100+mph, unbelievable feeling! At one point, I had a small tear roll down my eye because I was sooooo happy and had so much adrenaline rushing through by body. The spotters give you great coaching comments; they make you feel safe in the car and provide continuous encouragement in helping you become a better driver. read more

Oh Irwindale speedway why can't everything be perfect with you guys,, let me start off this review by saying that we love coming to night of destruction and we love the speedway and I've never had an issue here until tonight, let me explain myself a little more. Usually show up really early to this thing around five to get a good seat and get some food before the event starts but tonight decided to show up not as early as i usually do due to the fact ehhh lets see what happens ... That's where it all went horribly wrong, WTH I repeat WTH is wrong with your parking situation I sat for almost an hour at 6 o'clock trying to get from 605 to the parking lot in a single file line that moved like a three Legged Turtle running through a field of peanut butter. Not only was it frustrating as hell but also quite dangerous because people were getting super frustrated and certain people felt like they didn't have to wait in this line and just cut on in like assh@|€s .. not only do I think it's wrong but somethings going to happen out there some person is going to get mad and the situation will arise sooner than later.. you guys have back gates that open up how about you put an attendant back there and use it as two entrances just saying, like I said we really love the track love the events even like the food vendors they have but the parking situation is for the birds. Hopefully management sees his review and takes their heads outta the clouds and addresses this lame parking issue they got going on .. really wanted this to be 5 star all day but your parking is as bad as it gets for real .. read more

It's my 100th review! I thought it would be of some dericious restaurant, but speedway it is. The review is for the Formula D event that I went to, not so much the speedway itself. The speedway is like any other event location with the bleacher seating and ocean of cars in the parking lot. The thing I found interesting was getting into the venue. If you're coming from the 605, you're going to have to go arrrroouunnd and make a U turn and get in line with everyone else. The drifting was awesome. The swag you get from the companies were awesome. The car show was pretty cool too. The crowd was the worst. The StaffPro security was ineffective. The crowd doesn't understand was assigned seating means, and they were like a bunch of high school students. Wait, worse than that, like junior high kids who act up because they don't understand the changes that are happening to their bodies. When there was down time in between the races people started throwing paper airplanes...which eventually turned into throwing wads of paper and plastic fans (that were given out). Seriously. After a while, the crowd got more excited about a paper plane making it close to the fence that separated the track from the stands, than the actual event. Wow. Toward the end of the night, the goal was to get something on the track. Talk about hazard. The StaffPro security didn't notice that there were too many people in one row and since no one asked for our tickets after we got in, it was a compacted sausage fest in my row with the exception of myself. People stood in the aisles, and as the security walked through they just moved away, and came back to stand in the away again. Come on bro, I know you have a fancy camera and are trying to make it big as a photographer and all, but you can show some consideration and not piss off the people who may potentially buy your work. The Irwindale Speedway is a great place to see cars go vroom vrooooom and leave tire marks as they tear up the road. There's a lot of racing going on and even though the stereotype is that only drunk hillbillies can actually enjoy cars zooming by at top speeds, let's be honest, it gets you, a regular joe, worked up some to see this sort of thing. It's an amazingly fun time for all. So how exactly does the Irwindale Speedway become connected to prohibition? Well, if it wasn't for prohibition, you wouldn't be racing fast cars. Fun fact, NASCAR has its roots with bootleggers. It was their goal to make a car faster all for the purpose of outrunning the law. They would take their model T's and trick them out, often putting more suspension on them, tweaking the engine and producing more horse power so that they would be able to make their liquor runs without the fear of being caught.
