Haven't had to buy carpet for 24 years. Read the reviews for Carpet Castle and after getting a few quotes from local places, went with Paul. He was very helpful in making suggestions and he brought more samples when he came to measure. We went with one of his color recommendations and helped us pick the right wood/carpet setup for the stairs. Quite the fastidious person - he explained to us the difference in the direction of the carpet grain and the potential that 12' and 15' rolls of the same carpet might have very slight variances. And I enjoyed watching his method for moving furniture - he's got to be pretty good at Tetris (although he said Dr. Mario was his specialty on NES) Paul's quote was less than other local sources with the same carpet and upgraded padding. Installation was on-time, clean, and looks perfect. No damage to furniture or walls. He's really a hard-working guy and we'll be back when it's time to do the second floor. I have been in this community for 20 yrs and have used Carpet Castle on a few occasions. They treat you like a small town store, like family. The first year we moved to the community, we needed carpet for our daughter bedroom The purchase and install was perfect. A week later I walked in and stated that I need carpet pieces to put on my basement stairs to make it easier for my family dog to go up and down the stairs. Will never purchase or recommend a purchase from Carpet Castle. My husband and I purchased carpeting for our daughters bedroom ($771.97) on Sunday 12/21/14. We were having furniture delivered and setup the afternoon of Saturday, 12/27/14, so the salesman (Pat) initially stated we could get the delivery installation on that day; however, near the end of our purchase, after we already placed our cash deposit of $350.00, he called the warehouse to get an actual date. It turns out they could not install until the following Tuesday. We were disappointed, but accepted the situation and left. We received a call from Carpet Castle on that Tuesday. They said they would not be out until January 3rd to do the installation. Now expecting delivery/installation on the 3rd, we received yet another call from Carpet Castle on Friday January 2nd... the day before delivery. They stated there had been a problem on the truck and the carpet was damaged. They couldn't install on Saturday, as they needed to reorder the carpeting. They scheduled another installation for the following Saturday, January 10th. The installer came to our home on Saturday morning about 11 AM. He unrolled the carpet and found this piece of carpeting had been damaged. He would not be able to install it unless we agreed to him patching it with left over pieces. At this point, I called our salesman, Pat, to express my displeasure. I demanded remediation or a refund. He stated be would need to call the owner, Veronica, to see what he could do. He promised to call me back. When he called back, he said they needed to reorder the carpet again. It was coming from Atlanta, GA and would not arrive until Wednesday afternoon. He said he could arrange for a morning delivery on Thursday morning. When I stated my husband and I both worked and refused to take another day off for the installation, I expected the carpet be installed after 5 PM on Wednesday when we were home after work. He said they don't do evening installations. I then demanded a refund. He said he would need to call Veronica again to see what she would authorize. I received yet another call back. Veronica would not authorize the refund of our deposit, but said she would authorize an evening installation. I stated if there were one more problem with my order I would expect a full refund. Pat simply said "yes, mam" and hung up the phone. This delivery is now scheduled for tomorrow evening. My daughter has had to sleep on the couch for the past three weeks, as we had to disassemble her furniture and remove the old carpet and padding for this install. I could not be more disappointed in this business. I feel they have no quality control. They don't return phone calls. They don't deliver what they promise. They don't try and fix wrongs to the customer. Stay away!! read more

We have used Carpet Castle for the last 10 years. They have installed carpet in my personal home, and three rental properties. We tell them the price want to spend and they make it happen. Their carpet suggestions have also kept me from having to replace the carpet as often as I did before we used them. And if anything, you're supporting a local business. read more

This place has changed for the worst. Got stuck with carpeting I hate, installation was poor and the price!!!!! I ended up paying $2,500 more than I was originally quoted and I did not find out until they sent the info to the Credit Company. Stay away from this rip off place. read more

This may be a lengthy review, but I think it's important to know why my husband and I chose to purchase our carpet from Carpet Castle. We had purchased carpet from them years ago for our family room and basement. We wanted to replace the carpet in the basement and decided to try Home Depot thinking the big box store might offer a better discount, wrong. We chose a carpet from Home Depot after we were told there was "free installation". That "free installation" was only free if the purchase of the carpet was $1.00 or more a square foot and the total purchase price of the carpet was over $600.00. I kept telling the person at Home Depot we want to sell the house in a couple of years and didn't want to spend that much money on the carpet. Then we were told the installation price was $97.00, but when they handed me the estimate I saw the installation cost was listed at $210.00. When I questioned them about this price I was told they charged to come out and measure the room, the tack strips were extra etc. Then to top it off, it would take them about 2 days after they measured the room to give us a final price and no guarantee as to when it could be installed. On our way home from Home Depot, we decided to stop at Carpet Castle and see what they had to offer. The owner, Paul immediately understood we didn't want to spend a fortune on the carpet, directed us to a carpet that would suit our needs in the price range we wanted. Within an hour he was at the house measuring the room (no additional charge) and gave us price for the carpet and installation. Needless to say, the price was less then Home Depot. The day before they were going to install the carpet, Paul called and said he had inspected the carpet and he had found a flaw and wanted me to come in and decide whether or not I was ok with the flaw or whether or not I wanted him to do a re-order. The flaw wasn't extremely noticeable but it might have been noticed based on where it was going to be laying on the floor. Paul said no matter what I decided, he would give me an additional discount because of the inconvenience. Paul also said he had some other carpet in stock, which was a higher grade than the carpet we had ordered and he would charge the same price as the original order if we really wanted to have the carpet installed the next day. We picked another carpet, which we absolutely love and it was installed the next day. What impressed me the most was the fact the owner inspects all the carpet before it's laid. I think some companies would have laid the carpet hoping the flaw wouldn't be caught. So please, if you are looking for flooring, make sure you visit Carpet Castle in Lake Villa. It's family owned and they will definitely treat you right and give you a more than fair price. read more
