Dan had done some light work on our commercial AC unit at our Bakery in Chicago, so naturally when…read morewe needed to upgrade to a bigger system, we took a bid from him. Big mistake. The job was totally botched. From undelivered parts which we never got refunded for, to totally botching the furnace install to where we were endangering everyone that worked there because they routed the exhaust wrong. This is even though there was already a designated exhaust pipe! Our furnace is literally exhausting into our bathroom bc they used the bathroom vent exhaust instead of the dedicated one for the furnace! This caused so much damage, that to repair this and get our system running properly will actually cost MORE than the $8k we paid him. This doesn't even cover the refrigerant leaks, gas leaks, mangled filter box, wrong sized drip pans, garbage left at the work site, mold damage from the condensation IN the walls due to the botched furnace install. I could go on and on. All easily found by another technician. His "Speedy 1 year labor warranty"? Useless. They never came out. he won't even refund us the $950 we spent on a duct booster that never came. It's been 6 months. He says he had some health issues in November, but its almost Feb and no dice. In addition to all the money we are spending fixing his and Joe's terrible job, I have to spend money on a lawyer to work on our options. I hope he's insured like he said. Need to recharge your refrigerant/coolant? Dan might be the guy. Need any serious work done? Steer clear. Hell, steer clear even on the basic jobs if you want someone competent and who responsibly stand by their workmanship and treat you with respect. What a nightmare.
