DO NOT HIRE THESE DISGUSTING THIEVES!This has been an absolute nightmare. They are unprofessional, incompetent scammers who destroyed my property, took my money, and vanished. I am currently filing formal complaints with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), the State Contractors Board, and exploring legal action for breach of contract and property damage. Here is exactly how they ruined my home and breached their contract: Property Destruction: They completely wrecked my lawn, trenching the yard with heavy trucks. They severed my utility cable line, littered my property with cigarette butts and trash, and shattered my rockery. Negligent Concrete Work: They spilled and splashed wet concrete all over my house, driveway, and adjacent structures. They chipped existing concrete and left it. The new patio already has pooling water. I strongly suspect they committed construction negligence by leaving the rebar untied and laying directly on the dirt. Incomplete Scope of Work: I contracted them to cut and remove six trees. They only cut three, trimmed three, and left a massive pile of debris. Abandonment of Site: They left the wood forms and framing in a pile, packed up, and walked off without a word. Abandoning a job site is a direct violation of contractor regulations. Financial Shakedown: They demanded over 50% upfront for "materials." On pour day, the lead guy frantically called me at work, claiming he couldn't pay the cement vendor. He forced me to pay the vendor directly, effectively stripping away my remaining financial leverage.It has been a month. The lead guy--who was aggressively calling me to get the contract--now completely ignores my phone calls and refuses to finish the work. Yes, their bid was cheaper than the competition, but I am now paying thousands more to fix their destruction. I don't want to go into every detail of what I'm upset about - but as others have said, just do not use this company for your concrete project. We were very specific about what needed to be done and why (to keep water from pooling, level surface for stairs/deck to be built, etc)...They ruined my lawn, the surface is NOT level and didn't pour the concrete to the correct measurements, tried to upsell me every step of the way, and caused damage/cracks to my garage floor. Oh and they demanded to be paid in CASH. When I said that wouldn't be possible, they wanted a check made out to the owner's wife, which just seemed incredibly shady but the work was already 75% done at that point. When we reached out a day or 2 later to communicate our disappointment the owner said he was out of town until February and would come take a look when he gets back...unacceptable. I really wish I would have seen these other reviews before hiring them. read more

Very unprofessional company! One guy brought his pre-teen kids to work and let them run wild. They left food wrappers and garbage everywhere! They ruined one of my hoses using mine instead of theirs to do the job, broke one gate, dropped quite a bit of dirt into the pool swinging the excavator over the pool because swinging the other way would take too long, formed driveway square on one side and taper on the other, looks funny. List keeps going. They were one of the cheaper bids, i first liked the idea of family owned and a firm handshake, i will never recommend them to anyone! read more

Having a driveway and patio poured is a big investment and you really don't know what to expect. How long it will take? What it will look like.? Will it last? Initially we were excited to have Island Concrete do our front porch/patio and driveway. We planned to get a couple of quotes and they were first to come out. It was more expensive than we thought. We told them we wanted to think about it and have another company give us us a quote. At that point they offered us a deal, but it was a one time offer. We really liked the plan they helped create for us so we decided to do it. Against our better judgment to give in to the pressure sale. Our scheduled time was delayed a bit due to the cement order. When they finally got ready the weather started to get cold - it was October 2020. The day they pour the weather wasn't too bad. A little chilly but the sun was out. We thought they would start early but they ended up starting the job late morning. We had a pretty big project and it was dark by the time they could start stamping the cement. Which was the last step. They didn't have enough lights with them, so We offered our own shop lights. When they started o stamp it was late and they rushed. It was messy and not even. They said they would clean it up at a later time. We figured that meant fixing any imperfections. Cement looks really good when it's wet, so when they finish, before it dried, it looked nice. It's been months and they haven't responded to our many attempts to contact them to ask to finish the job. And in the meantime, the driveway has a crack that they haven't acknowledged or provided support or help to fix. We hoped staining and sealing the cement would help make it look better. We are disappointed and wish we never dealt with Island Concrete. The job wasn't finished. We spent over $10,000 (a lot of money) and it's apparent they don't value customer service or their promise to finish the job. read more

Had my driveway and walk-ways done 8 weeks ago. The company insisted they were a family-owned company and said they had our back. They said we would be pleased with their work. They didn't protect our garage doors and got concrete splattered on them. They laid the walkway concrete too high and then the gate would not close. They didn't prep for all the joints needed in before the concrete was poured and had to come back and put in the necessary joints which resulted in inconsistent joint looks. They even said they would come back and fix issues after the second visit. Unfortunately, to date, they have not. I have never been so disappointed in a vendor in all the years we have lived here. Guess it's true you can't count on anyone (vendors) these days. They just want your money and then run and disappear. I have other comments on some other defects with this concrete project, but don't want to go into it. Bottom line, I would not recommend this company based on our experience and the product we ended up with. read more

Very bad experience. Nice people. You will want to like them. They are everything you've EVER heard about bad contractors. They Found a way to add-on $5k more to the job - it was the "only fix" due to their poor original design. Very rarely showed up when they said - usually got a message saying they'd be arriving (randomly) in less than an hour. Told us we could choose any color and or stamped concrete design. After sending them 3, with them saying they couldn't do any of them, we finally just asked them what we COULD have them do. Even then, they still had serious challenges getting it done. Had to have them come back 2 extra times (after they had cleaned up) to actually clean up. Patio cracked almost immediately but I guess that can be fairly normal. read more

We signed a contract in Oct 2022 for a pretty big job. A new driveway, Two patios, a retaining wall, and a paver walkway. If you hire these people expect a pretty strong upsell for things you dont initially want. The contract says the job will take 2 weeks weather permitting. Since we started late in the season, there were several days that rained or snowed but there were also several days that were dry. Despite that, the concrete wasnt poured till Jan. It's now mid June and the owner is not responding to my attempts to reach out. I have had dozens of promises from the owner that they'd be out Monday. Then Wednesday. Then next Monday. It's been 6 months since we've seen them. They've taken other jobs and left us hanging. All I asked him was that he kept me appraised of what his plans were and when he'd be out. But he promises to come out then refuses to tell me that he cant or wont make it. We're having a big party here next week and again the owner has promised the job will be done but refuses to come out to the house. We were supposed to make 3 equal payments for the job. But the owner didnt have enough money for materials even after giving him more than $10,000 upon signing the contract. Exactly one month later he couldn't make payroll. We gave him another $2000. Ten days later he asked for another $6000. Even after all that, he didn't have money for the pavers and I had to go to the wholesalers and pay for those. Over $3000. In Jan he finally poured the concrete and asked for another $4500 plus almost $1000 for the concrete. So now we've paid him for the whole job save $1000 and it's no where near done. And though some of the work looks good, several mistakes have been made. Operating the backhoe, my fence was broken, the light post by the driveway was hit and broken, and the gate by the garage was hit and bent to where it no longer works. The paver patio wasn't fixed. Instead he convinced us to pour concrete instead. Ok fine, but the patio isn't square. The back of the patio is 4 inches longer than the front edge. Not easy to put a gazebo on it, which is my plan, if the pad is not square. Stay away from this company if you want the job done in your lifetime. They will lie to the customer, making promises he has no intention of keeping. And they just might do more damage than good in executing the job. read more

Our experience was NOT GOOD. We spent just under 30,000. to get a new driveway poured and a patio. They did not start the job when they said they would, and would not contact us with any schedule changes which were several so we were held hostage waiting on them. When the finally did start, the only good part was the fast demolition of our old driveway and patio. They had to pour the driveway on two separate days. The finish work was NOT Good! The stress lines were all crooked, the steps were all bowed out, the sides of the drive were crooked and it immediately CRACKED in several places despite us staying. completely off it for 2 weeks. They were terrible to work with, trashed our yard with their garbage left behind, real Pigs. This is especially BAD, the concrete was mixed with some sort of fiber fillers which were supposed to strengthen it so it would minimize any cracking, problem is this shitty mixture STAINS FROM EVERYTHING even if a leaf falls touches it including tire marks from backing in and parking. It looks like we do "Burnouts" on it!! Black tire marks just from turning the tires!! Never heard of this. I have NEVER seen any concrete which acts and looks like what they used in our yard. I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT!! it always looks stained and dirty. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU LIKE CRAPPY SUBSTANDARD WORK!! They were even recommended on Angi's list so I thought we were at least getting a chance at something decent. We paid a higher price than other quotes just because they could start right away. We had been waiting for months for another out fit and decided to go with this firm just to get it done. Looks like us along with the other reviews listed here were all done in August 2022 and I remember they had several jobs all going at the same time so it took two weeks to complete a 3 day job. This was a major patio and driveway job replacing the 50 year old one. The new drive has more cracks in it after a year than the old one did. There are also low spots that pool water and grow moss and the wire mesh used came to the surface in a couple places and are leaving rust trails down the driveway. Don't waste your money. read more
