Unfortunately I was one of those that didn't have a good experience. We tried their doughnuts at a food truck event. The doughnuts were laid out on sheets of pans without any coverings. It was raining on and off that day so that should have been a flag for me but I was looking forward to it. So I bought some anyway. I ordered a half dozen and it came out to $17. I would say 4 out of 6 doughnuts were very oily. A burst of oil gushed in my mouth the first bite I took. My family and I couldn't taste any of the flavors we ordered and ended up throwing it away because of oily it was. I had to drink some hot tea after eating them because I felt nauseous. Got there on a Sunday at around 8am and the shelves were almost cleaned out. Love to see that for small local businesses. I decided on some Cinnamon Rolls, Donut holes, & a half dozen. Eh, just not impressed- they had no cream for coffee- no real option for other alternatives or discounts for the inconvenience, etc. When I asked for a kolache, it came with a hot dog in it- no ask if I wanted warm. Pardon my late post but I am here to say that I really enjoy this cute doughnut shop. I've visited a handful of times in the last few months. Lets keep it simple...in my humble opinion, this is the only place on Oahu where their doughnuts taste like Krispy Kreme (sorry if thats a good or even bad comparison, but I love Krispy Kreme). Island Glazed doughnuts are not too doughy (is that a word?) and are 100% melt-in-your-mouth. Their flavors are super yummy and not overly sweet. Cute, clean shop with a few tables. Lots of parking. Yelp email guided me to this establishment and it didn't disappoint! When you see 5.0 on the Yelp star scale you are intrigued and have to sample. I saw their hours and called in an order for half a dozen. I called because I wanted to make sure donuts would be available when I arrived at lunch. When a donut spot produces fire donuts they usually don't last. The owner was so kind to take my order and set aside my six picks. Thanks Daniel! I was on a mission to reward myself with donuts during my lunch break therefore I rushed down as fast as I could at 12. After grabbing some lunch next door, we were looking for something to satisfy our sweet tooth. Fortunately for us, Island Glazed was just next door. Our instagram feed has been flooded with pictures and mentions of this donut/coffee shop, so we were pleased to give it a taste. It was absolutely delicious. If I had to describe their donuts, I would say it tasted similarly to Krispy Kreme, but better with local flavors. I look forward to coming by here more and trying their espresso drinks. Their coffee is supplied by Ali's Coffee Co. They are located at Pearl Kai Shopping Center where there is no shortage of parking. Located in Pearl Kai Shopping, where Blazing Steaks used to be. And since its location is in Pearl Kai, there's tons of parking. Inside the cafe is spacious, clean, and inviting. Both times we went there, the service was excellent and very kind. We even got a sample of the apple fritter and it was so delightful. We got a half dozen of donuts, just to try each flavor. The donuts were soft and flavored just right. Not overbearing with sweetness. We also got a cinnamon roll. Ooohweee! The outer bites were just as soft as the middle with evenly cinnamon in every bite. Lastly, we got the jalapeño cheddar kolache. It reminds us of a larger pig in a blanket. These donuts are so good! We have been in twice, and received friendly service both times. The first time we didn't make it until later in the day and they were out of most flavors, but this time around they had the ones we wanted to try and we loved them all. They're so soft they almost melt in your mouth. Personal favorite was chocolate Macadamia! Island glazed is a hidden gem! Located in a little shopping plaza it's easy to miss but let me tell you, we came to this area for poke nachos but when we saw donuts we knew we had to check it out. They have a good amount of flavors to choose from including some more local flavors like guava, mango and lillikoi. Customer service was top notch and let me tell you these raised donuts literally melt in your mouth! We got a 6 pack for the 5 of us and they were soooo delicious I wish we would have gotten more. My husband told me about these when he got to try them. He rarely cares about food (opposite of me) so when he actually mentions something noteworthy, it must be good! He LOVES donuts so for him to say he liked them, that's saying something! He raved about the texture saying that most in Hawaii are too dense but these are light and soft. We had to visit! I love that they have local flavors. By the time we got here (1pm) they were out of kolaches (only seen these at Buc-ee's in Texas!) and guava so gotta come back earlier! My daughter requested donuts for her birthday instead of cake. So instead of grabbing Safeway donuts like we usually get I decided to see if I could find something better on Yelp. That's when I came across Island Glazed with 4.8 stars. They close at 2 pm during the week so I sent my son around 8 am to grab a box while I headed to work so that there'd still be a selection. I told him to ask the person working to help him get the 12 best flavors. When I got home the donuts looked pretty good, a little smaller than I'm used to. I noticed couple had finger marks in the frosting so I asked my son why he wasn't more careful since he knew it was for his sister's bday and he said the person working handled the donuts and did it. So, that would be my one suggestion - to be mindful when packing the donuts. After dinner around 8pm we opened the box to put candles and sing. The donuts held up pretty well. Some just looked like the frosting soaked into the donut a bit and wasn't as vibrant as they were before. But guess what, 12 hours after we bought them they were delicious! I told my daughter to cut a piece from each so she could try all the different ones and she loved them and was super happy. Some friends joined us for her bday and everyone loved them and said they were really good. My only regret is waiting 12 hours to try them. I can only imagine how much better they'd be fresh. At $30 something a dozen they were pricier than what I'm used to but they are worth the price. I can't compare them to Krispy Kreme because I've never had one but Island Glazed is the best donut I've had. I will definitely go back so we can try them fresh. Honorable mention to the Kolaches from Texas. It's a flavorful hot dog wrapped in donut dough and fried, and my god it's good. Catching up with reviews that wasn't done during the holiday season! Came by here on November 30th and one of the male workers (or maybe even the owner?) greeting me before I even entered the bakery! I went fairly early in the morning around 8, but it seems there were lots of early birds that arrived before I did! That's ok, I still got to try a variety of donuts. I believe I tried a limited flavor which was peanut butter and jelly and also got Ube, matcha, guava and Oreo I believe if my memory serves me right. The lady who took my order was also very nice and even offered me a free cup of hot coffee, some kind of special they had going on but I don't think it's valid anymore. I must say, bakery was very bright and clean! I didn't try the donuts until later in the day because I still had errands to run so it was like a full four to five hours before I ate it but they still tasted fresh, flavors were very good they tasted as advertised. Tried these donuts today and it gave me mixed emotions. I'm not to sure if it's a bad batch or what not but even my son who loves donuts didn't like it either. I ordered two donuts guava and a basic chocolate with sprinkles. Took a bite of the guava one. Flavor was great, donut was soft....packed with tons of oil gushing out. This was our first time visiting Island Glazed and overall it was a nice experience! They have a nice and bright spacious space with a couch on one side and 4 tables on the other side. Clouds of dough wrapped in sugar enveloped in additional sugar and topped with flavorful, delicious frosting. Can't recommend this place enough. And, if like me, sugar is your enemy and you're selective of which enemies to admit defeat to, this place should be added to your list. Totally worth whatever extra exercise you're going to have to torture through. Also important is the staff: patient and knowledgeable about what products they have the recommendations they make. First time here so had plenty of questions and the woman at the front walked me through which flavors are popular, that the donuts are glazed before frosted, and why the generic chocolate glaze was different than other chocolate donuts elsewhere. And, she was right: their glaze is like fudge as it's so thick. Got a variety: the mango, pineapple, guava, peanut butter and jelly, matcha, chocolate, and strawberry mango. Took it back to the office and four of my teammates and I sliced up each to compare test. Each were favorable and unique. None were too strong except the chocolate which was thick frosting so like fudge. The matcha was surprising as well: you can definitely go wrong with matcha and have it come out bitter. This wasn't. My first bite was underwhelming: not bad, just initially didn't get a hint of matcha. The aftertaste though was a sweet matcha flavor - more subtle than a matcha green tea latte from a well known coffee house. In terms of flavors, my order of preference: P&B, Matcha, Pineapple, Mango, Guava, Strawberry Mango, and Chocolate. For others, chocolate came out on top but I preferred the more subtle flavors that lingered beautifully afterwards versus the first punch. The ambiance is fresh, uncluttered, airy and open. Doesn't have a lot of tables so not necessarily a place you'd imagine people congregating at for an hour to talk. Overall, just wonderful.
