We don't live here we are visiting from Sacramento, California If you are going to Honolulu if you were going anywhere where this place is located because they have different locations, please make sure that you try! You will thank me if you're on a diet who cares throw out the window This place is worth having your sweet treat make this your one thing that you will not leave Hawaii without trying I was lucky I was driving and happened to see their food truck type of deal. The only problem was it was kinda hard to turn around in order to go and park. However, the weather was great sat on some benches that were right outside, which made it nice and it was like a little bit of a breeze in my hair I was able to get some good content for my own Instagram, which was pretty nice. I just loved sharing the food that I eat when I go out of town out of state out of country. I think it's so important to share all these things because people don't know what they'll be tasting. I want to say this the custard coming out of this was goosing goosing coming out. I can't even explain to you how delicious. I probably made some words up here. The stuff was really nice. I did not realize how huge these are. I was thinking oh they're small because the price is just right. Oh my goodness I hope they always stay a really relative good price so that way people can always try all of them because it's so worth it I've tried the sugar one. I tried the chocolate one. I tried the custard one I think I tried another one. It is just so delicious. I'm gonna add some video and also some pictures please if you go let me know how much you love it. I really really hope they open one of these Ca-Sacramento.

Stopped by to try some well known malasada's. We got the haupia and cinnamon sugar, they were warm and fluffy. The coconut cream was nice and the prices weren't bad either. They were solid malasadas, but nothing particularly memorable.

Masaladas were amazing. My favorite was either macadamia nut/custard, and my wife's was the cinnamon sugar. It was pouring rain when we came, but the line moved pretty quickly; the wait was about 10-15 minutes to receive the items. I can't imagine it on sunny days. Regardless, it's a delicious sweet treat to try, and I would recommend making this one of your stops when on the island.

Great grab and go. And Hot.

Yep. Love them. Cash is no longer accepted. But they take CC or Tap to pay. Mahalo.

Leonards still beats all the other Malasada places. It really is the best. And this specific location is easy pick up with no lines. And I love that you can just order 1 if you please. Unlike Pennys that makes you do 3 at a time at least and isn't as good. I got to try their li hing flavor and the original custard. They come out fresh, hot, and delicious. They are perfect. The sweetness, doughiness, and custard ratio. Yum! The li hing was a nice unique one to try. The custard one is no match. Since it's a truck its a grab and go type of place. There's no where to sit and enjoy besides the comfort in your car. I cannot wait to come back and get them again.

Food: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 2/5 Overall: Of course I'd come back for this. Malasadas - 5/5 - You seriously can't go wrong with this! No matter what flavor you want is literally magical in the mouth! This time I got the special flavors of haupia and dobash! Sooooo tasty!!! Service: 4/5 - Service with a smile. Ambiance: 3/5 - Since it's a mobile truck in the middle of a parking lot...not much of an ambiance. LOL.

Love Leonard's Malasadas! A must stop when in Oahu. It's best when hot. Our favorites are the Original, Custard and Haupia filling. Yum Yum! Service is friendly and truck is conveniently located outside Pear Ridge Mall. There is seating with tables under the tree with shade if you prefer to enjoy there or pick up and go. Put on your list of things to do and eat!

Usually buy malasadas every week but today after three bites, there's plastic on the middle.don't wanna buy there anymore.

Best Leonard's truck imo! Got there on a Sunday at 9 am and no crazy line. Safe and effective layout for ordering keeping traffic a good distance away and!...... the malasadas were massive! Immense compared to other locations! And the workers weren't grouchy.... Cough, cough Waikele.

Leonard's malasadas. What more is there to say? Hands down, still the best malasadas on the island. My step daughter was in town visiting and I told her she cannot leave this island without bringing home malasadas. She and her family visited us a couple of years ago & fell in love with them then. We got there about 9AM on a weekday morning. No line, very short wait. This mobile truck has been in the same location at Pearlridge for years & is in the corner parking lot of the old Sears. You can't miss that infamous red and white striped truck. They have a couple of picnic tables next to the truck so you can nosh on malasadas at your heart's content. Since I had been there last, there were a couple of small changes. One, they no longer accept cash, card only and 2nd, they added a small metal shelf just below the window to do your payment transaction. You still order from the window, the gal rings it up & gives you a total, then using the tablet on the shelf, you complete your payment, adding tip if you want. Then insert or tap your card on the small black box next to the tablet. Easy peasy & much more efficient, The gal at the window hands you your receipt. Prices have gone up over the years as expected. Everything is made fresh and served hot but sometimes you may get some that are too doughey from being undercooked or too brown from being over cooked or dirty oil. We had ordered 1 dozen - 5 cinnamon, 3 custard, 2 dobash chocolate, 1 haupia/coconut, & 1 original all for $25. They're all good sized donuts and so ono! When my step daughter returned to the mainland that nite, she sent me pics of her kids devouring the malasadas. It didn't last long. Overall, da best with a convenient location, hot and fresh malasadas, friendly staff. Let's continue to support local and one of Hawaii's recognizable fixture.

A malasada is a Portuguese donut, without a hole - they fry these up until it's golden brown, covered in this cinnamon-sugar coating (or, just plain sugar or li hing (salted plum powder)), and filled with your choice of filling (custard, mac-nut, guava, haupia, dobash (chocolate), etc.). We came to this mobile truck after having lunch in the area, and note that when there's a line, it will take some time to get yours, as it seems as if it's made-to-order. We ordered one in cinnamon sugar with a custard filling - it was piping hot and generous filled. There isn't a seating area, and most patrons just get theirs to go or enjoy it right there, by the truck. +made-to-order malasadas

    Glenda D.

These Malasadas are fluffy and delicious! Every time I'm in town I need to have one. They have different options for fillings or you can choose just sugar. Service is always nice! I have yet to go to the actual bakery but the mobile trucks have been my go to. They are just as delicious and no line :) .

We went in the evening approximately 1 hour before closing. There was only one person working at the time, so he was kind of busy taking orders and also frying and serving. He unfortunately confused our order and left out the two custard donuts we had ordered, giving us 2 more originals instead. I will say that these are freshly fried on the spot so be patient! Very delicious masalada dough. Original has a great dusting of sugar. Li Hing Mui flavor was very salty and not for us. Cinnamon was a classic! Giant parking lot with several food trucks near the Pearl ridge mall.

I don't really have a sweet tooth-I'm a no icing, no frosting kind of girl. I wouldn't dream of eating a cinnamon roll with icing, that's a no for me. But their donuts are delicious all the same and can definitely scratch the itch if you do have a sweet tooth. As someone who's vegan, it can be hard to find a dessert I actually feel good about, and this is one of those places. Everything is taro-based and cooked in coconut oil, which I really appreciate. Just a heads up-all of their donuts are taro donuts. The flavors come from the toppings, so if you see something like a strawberry one, the donut itself isn't strawberry--it's the topping. Their offerings change, ( they do have their core donuts that don't change-and I usually go for one "naked"--no glaze. Sometimes I'll get the honey and sea salt one. Right now they have a seasonal donut called Black Sabbath that's black sesame, brûléed banana. Every time I've been in, I'm greeted right away, and there's plenty of free parking. They get your order out super quick. If you don't want a whole donut--or you're eating in your car and don't want to make a mess--their little donuts called Holeys are the perfect pop-in-your-mouth option. The place has always be well kept and clean - and they have a very spacious, and equally as clean, bathroom. They also have an app where you can check the menu, keep track of your rewards, and manage gift cards, which makes it really convenient. Also, if you're not signed up for their rewards program, do it. You're basically passing up free donuts if you don't. Give them a go, share your experience and if your taste buds celebrated. SYOY! I used their website to place an online order the day before, which was pretty user-friendly including pics of the baked goods available. I wanted to get a few pastries for myself to try and bring some poi malasadas for my volunteer group. I saw they also sold sandwiches, which I was unaware of & was happy to see they had a chicken salad sandwich that I ended up ordering. Pick-up was scheduled for 9AM. They are easy to find and located across the street from the Halawa rec center. As other yelpers have mentioned, parking can be tricky but there is ample parking. Just be sure not to park in any stalls marked reserved. When I got there, there were only 2 customers ahead of me, a man in the store, and a lady just outside the door. Apparently they limit the amount of people in the door because of how small the area is and probably same set-up from covid time. Plus if there are already people at the register, there's a sign on the door that says, "the line starts here." So even though I ordered ahead, I still had to wait to get in. They should at least have another employee help with just pick-up orders to move the line along in case customers in front of you have huge orders. After I stood there waiting, 3 more people lined up behind me. Once I got to the counter, the girl had to go in the back to get my order which was already bagged when she brought it to me. It took about 10 minutes altogether from waiting in line to leaving. She was nice and friendly and the front area was kept clean. Poi malasadas, $2 each - good sized and ono, nice & soft, not overly sweet. Blueberry scone, $3.60 - meh, on the dry side & looks like they use frozen blueberries or preserved, not worth it. Butter roll, $1.45 - meh, on the dry side even after warming it. Long john, $3.90 - ono, hands down one of the best I've had. It is a little pricier than other bakeries but it is huge. They do not skimp on the custard, filled to the max & it was tasty, not overly sweet. The only thing I didn't like was there was way too much powered sugar topping, which made the donut part too sweet. Still worth getting & way better than Zippy's. Chicken salad sandwich, $9.75 - one of the best I've had. Wasn't sure what to expect from a bakery but it was delicious & the price was very reasonable. Comes on a soft, sweet bread type roll and packed with chicken salad & lettuce. They also did not skimp on the chicken salad, which was also very flavorful. This sandwich was huge & barely fit the container it came in. I could only eat half because it was so filling. All sandwiches come with a bag of chips. Unfortunately, the website doesn't give you a choice of what you want, they just stuck a bag of fritos in the bag, which I was ok with. I would get this again. Overall, I was pleased with most of the food. Ordering online ahead of time was easy, friendly service at pick-up with a clean area, & ample free parking. I plan to come back and try some other goodies. Support local!
