I'm very picky with doughnuts, but Donut King is my go to spot whenever I have cravings for them. I will 100% rave about their croissant bites. Never had them till I tried DK and it's been my favorite thing to buy since. Their doughnuts are exceptionally good and so are their croissants sandwiches. They have regular doughnuts, croissant doughnuts and cake doughnuts. Very different from your typical doughnut chain. I will say that it can be pricey, so Donut King is more of a special treat for me if anything. The Doughnut King is a small space next to central pacific bank in the Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center across from Windward Mall. While the space previously was large enough to hold a small restaurant, the new layout means the counter and display take up about half of what used to be the restaurant's space, with the other side left open. There are a few chairs by the doors, but sitting at the open air tables by diagnostic labs is probably better. I went on a saturday morning around 9:10, and it was not busy. I got the red velvet doughnut and the maple cronut right away, and it was a fast checkout. The red velvet is solid. Not too much to say that makes it stand out from other versions of the cake. But it was moist inside, with a nice slightly firmer outside and glaze. A perfect safe option for picky eaters or when you want something simple but delicious. The maple cronut was a softer cronut with a lot of give. The outside has a little crunch like you'd expect, while the inside is buttery and more doughy but also has a lot of air bubbles making it feel larger than it is. The flavor is nice and not overpowering. A cronut might be best paired with a coffee or other drink as it starts to feel heavier towards the end. Still very good, but it may be better to save half for later. read more

After Kaneohe Bakery and Deluxe Pastry Shop closed in Kaneohe, we really didn't have anywhere to get FRESH donuts, until Donut King decided to open a location in Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center. Love this Donut Chain on Oahu! Today is the first day I came to this location and it tasted the same as the other location I frequent. My favorite is a glazed donut. The dough is soft and the glaze coats the entire donut. I do wish they had the glazed donut with chocolate filling in the middle. The Custard filled Long John is also very good. Glad we have a bakery in Kaneohe after two beloved bakeries in Kaneohe closed down. Although this one only serves donuts and not pies, cakes or breads, it's a fairly new establishment. They may not have all the donuts availability like the other locations, I found out that the cake donuts are only made here on the weekend , but the croissant donut holes, long John's and croissant donuts are a must try! So yummy! What I did not like and brought down the stars was if you have a phone order you can just "cut" in line and pay for your order. There is no signage saying phone order pick up here. I thought that was awfully rude that a guy standing in line behind me just went ahead of me and said "phone order" and the girl rung him up. The donuts were soft, chewy, and had a nice texture-- moist and good taste. However, I felt the coconut ube donut could have been a bit more ube flavor. Overall, everything was good, though nothing particularly wowed me. It's a solid spot for a quick donut treat, and they also have other items like espresso and shakes, which I'd be curious to try. This is the best donut shop on Oahu! For years I've tried other places but can't beat these folks for variety, taste of the donuts and helpful staff. Only bad part is expect long lines (that's what happens when you're popular, lol!) and they will run out of popular flavors. I used to like Krispy Kreme but prefer these folks instead. I've had Donut King donuts before from coworkers who bring them into the office to share so when I heard they finally opened a spot here I was stoked. Had a day off and it was raining so it felt like the perfect time to get it. Everything looked so good but I went for something I knew I liked which were the croissant donut holes. Got a dozen of those to share and one custard filled chocolate covered donut for the kid. The total was $11.25. There was no one when I came in but more people showed up when I was leaving. The cashier was nice, though I didn't do any interaction cause I wanted to pick something and get out before I end up buying more stuff. Let me tell you all their offerings look so good.
