Visited island party hut for a birthday party. I love how they offer private boat rentals for special events. The crew we had were all so kind during the party and knowledgeable on what to do if there was an accident. I liked how you can bring your own food and play your own music using the boat's aux cord / speaker system. Came on a Sunday afternoon with my sister friend. House Party DJ was playing which was incredible! The vibes were happy! I ordered the chips and guac, plus shrimp skewers. Another fun place to visit and have a drink at Chicago Riverwalk. Order your food and drink at the outdoor bar. Those guys behind the bar are really cool and friendly. They make your cocktail in front of you. They deliver your food on your chosen table (seat on any unoccupied table, it can be communal too - make friends!). There's also QR code on table for menu and order on your phone, if you opt for this process. I love the Live Music entertainment, the outdoor games they have looks fun. This is a place to bring the whole family. Kids can play and adults having fun, too! The view is sooo nice overlooking the Chicago River. read more

Island Party Hut on the Riverwalk is a fun, laid-back spot for the whole family. There are games to keep everyone entertained and plenty of seating, so you're not fighting for a table -- a big plus with kids in tow. The drinks are great and the food is solid, if not a standout. The one knock: service can be hit or miss. The servers didn't seem too eager to work our area, so my advice is to skip the wait and just order and pick up yourself at the bar. Once you do that, it's smooth sailing. Worth a stop if you're walking the Riverwalk -- just manage your service expectations and you'll have a great time. read more

Update: BEWARE I had a friend say she walked by and tried this place a couple weeks ago. She didn't think it was as bad as I did but something I find hilarious is she told me she was asked/bribed/ with free drinks/shots by people who work there for her to give them a five star review. So all these 5 star recent reviews aren't even accurate and are bribes? Since when did the industry get so bad that places need to bribe their customers to get good reviews? Sounds like a scam to bring in more people. Ha this place is a joke. Let's first start with arrival. We were told by a manger walking around to find a table and a server would be right with us. 20 minutes went by and nobody came. Mind you this was a Friday at 3 pm and the property was a ghost town and I am not surprised after this experience. I decided to go up to the bar and order. There I saw the bartender and the same manager taking a shot together before acknowledging me. There was a woman standing on her phone and I would guess she was the sever who never came to take our order. Once they noticed me they seemed like I was interrupting their conversation. Should have left right then and there. I brought up the timely wait to place an order at our table to the manager and he decided to lie and tell me that he never told us we could sit and order at the table. So I must be deaf and a liar then right? Great customer service to give us a terrible first impression of the place. Decided we were already were there so let's order and make the most of it. We ordered drinks and food but as a former bartender I have never seen cocktails served with an inch of grenadine and other syrups sitting at the bottom of a cup. For close to $20 a drink you'd expect the bartender to hand you a drink that's ready to drink and not full of syrups but maybe they were too busy getting drunk themselves to care. Also could tell that all their cocktails are made with the cheapest plastic bottle of liquors on the market so all around cheap. Was then handed a 312 canned beer with a huge dent at the bottom guessing it was dropped, then served but had to get a cup to pour it myself because it was too dented to sit up on its on. $8 for a dented beer? Thanks! At this point we already paid for our drinks and our food. Drinks were a 1 out of 10. All syrup and juice with a shot of cheap liquor in itZ I should've just asked for a refund and left but we were hungry and the bartender made us want to try their wings. We decided to order a margarita pizza as well. We waited for about 50 minutes for our food to arrive with the property still completely empty and the food looked terrible. Pizza was 100% a frozen cheese pizza that they threw a couple tomatoes slices on top, not worth $20. The wings that the bartender and manager recommended were terrible. You could tell they pre cook the wings way beforehand and then heat them up to order . The outside was overdone and piping hot while the inside was cooked through but somehow ice cold. How could this monstrosity take 50 minutes? No way you are having people wait this long for fast food quality but charging close to $20 for 6 wings... Great recommendation from the bartender, what a joke. This palace is a joke. They clearly find ways to do things the cheapest way possible. They don't care about their customers only their money and profit margins. I'm not one to leave reviews but it only felt right to warn anybody else that this is NOT the place to EAT or to DRINK. There are hundreds of better places walking distance that are way better and probably cheaper. If you want to stay on the riverwalk I highly recommend anything else besides Island Party Hut. Don't waste your hard earned money on a place that doesn't care about its customers. Don't forget to take an inside the bars you order you drinks there are spiders and webs in every corner meaning they don't keep the bar clean. We also had a rat run right under our table past our dog in the middle of the day. Overall the worst spot on the riverwalk and a total waste of money. Island Party Hut seriously this can't be what makes you proud to own and operate. Maybe call Jon Taffer, maybe he can help you or find experienced managers to run your place. This is more of a party complex that is located right off of the RIverwalk. They have a lot going on and the place is huge. First, they have various sized tiki party boats that you can charter. They have games available like large Connect 4, Jenga, hook and ring toss, and of course corn hole. There is tons of seating, but it is all outdoors. They have a few bars that they can open, depending on the crowd. There are a few televisions out there that almost always have sports on. They have your favorite tropical cocktails and some of their own. I will note that they come in plastic cups and not tiki cups, which is fine by me. The staff there was very friendly and helpful. They did not have table service during my visit and I had to go up to the bar to place my orders. They have some savory drinks. I would recommend the Tipsy Mermaid and Mango Tango, but it looks like you really cannot go wrong with whatever you pick They also offer food such as wings, burgers, chicken sandwiches tacos, pizza, wraps, and brats. I ordered an island Party Dog, which came with some chips. It took about 10 minutes for my food to be ready. And it was Ok, nothing special. It was laking in the flavor department for sure. Just so you are not surprised, when it starts to get dark, large rats start coming out of the bushes and running around. They have little fear and will run right by you. You may also experience a jogger running through the area to avoid people walking the Riverwalk. This would be a nice venue for a private event or corporate party. I enjoyed my time here, enjoying my beverage, while watching people and watercraft go by on the Chicago River. I hope to make it back on my next visit to Chi-town. read more

My friend and I got a Groupon to do the bottomless mimosas at the Island Party Hut, which each comes with an order of French toast sticks. The staff were very lovely, they let us sub one of the French toast sticks for a thing of chips and salsa. Which was a good deal since the French toast sticks were only four pieces (calling them a basket is generous lol). But the snacks were a fun accompaniment to the main event of unlimited mimosas for a fixed time. Overall a good deal, and I enjoyed being by the riverwalk and the various games they had available (including cornhole and connect four). This is an unexpected gem on the Riverwalk in Chicago, it's not super busy tonight, but it is lively, and the prices are affordable. The wine is good. The food is good and Porscha's and Orlando's service was exceptional. The kitchen closes at 8 PM, but as long as people are buying drinks, the bar will stay open much to my delight! I'm sad that the businesses on the Riverwalk both south and north side close November 1 --and don't reopen until 1 May the following year. I will definitely be back next spring! read more

This place was a complete disaster from start to finish. I was served cold food, asked for a replacement, and they brought out the same cold plate like I wouldn't notice. As you can see in my photos it went from day to night outside! Not once did anyone apologize. The staff was straight-up rude, dismissive, and wouldn't even look me in the face while I was trying to explain the issue. The manager told me he'd refund my $19 and would "be right back." I waited almost 45 minutes....he never returned! I had to go find him myself, just for him to casually say the refund would take 1-2 business days. That would've been fine if he had actually communicated that up front, but he didn't. The entire experience was unprofessional and frustrating. No apology. No accountability. Just a bunch of people acting like paying customers are a burden. I work too hard to waste my money in a place like this. Do yourself a favor and skip Island Party Hut. This is my go-to place to enjoy a couple of drinks and enjoy playing corn hole or jenga with my folks on a Summer evening. On my recent visit, my friend and I ordered Mango Tango and Mai Tai. The drinks were very refreshing and a good fitting for warm summer evening. They are usually packed during weekends but have an ample space so getting a table is not that difficult. I have not tried their food so cannot comment on it but they serve light snacks typically. They have a wide range of non-alcoholic drinks as well, I have not tried yet but will surely try next time. Finally! There's a large outdoor venue with games. Bags (or cornhole if you prefer), HUGE connect four, and then this game where you swing a string at a hook? It's pretty big outside, so I wouldn't be surprised if there were more things to do and I just didn't get around to it. Besides from the activities, Island Party Hut have a decently sized speciality drink menu with other beer and wine options. Not the largest draft selection, but it did the trick. The cool thing is, you get the drinks in a hut! Talk about a fitting business name. For food, my group got chips and salsa (which was my favorite thing- salsa seemed fresh!), margarita and pepperoni pizza (not too shabby), and the nachos (classic messy goodness). The food wasn't highlight of the experience with all the games and drinks to choose from. Good for snacking though! Island Party Hut is a great space for bringing large groups to have a silly good time on the River. Island party hut is our favorite casual hangout place to swing by during summers. There is literally no cap on the seating as they have plenty of it. The service is typically fast, regardless of it being just cocktails or food. Their mai tai is my favorite. They have a wide range of beers on tap too. We had a work outing here and it was a cute spot for an event like that! I love anything on the Riverwalk because it's one of my favorite places in Chicago. It's a little further down, so it's not as much traffic as if you were to go to other Riverwalk places like Tiny Tapp. They have games, like bags, jumbo jenga, connect 4, etc. They allowed us to cater food and bring it in and do a wristband deal for an open bar. I am so glad that all of the tables have umbrellas because it started pouring when we were there and the umbrellas were able to keep us all dry! Would definitely recommend! read more

Traveling from out of town and wanting to see the skyline from a distance this is a great option. Definitely book the boat with Captain Mack and (Q as the admiral's bartender). Admirals lounge is worth it! You can go anywhere on the boat and come back to air conditioning at any time. Do NOT buy tickets to go to IPH's Fall Fest on The Riverwalk if you have children. First all children, including infants and toddlers, are full price. They said it's kid friendly, but there was absolutely nothing for a toddler aged kid to do. Even when you asked the staff what buying a ticket for the kid events are, they were unsure and said that maybe face painting is still happening. The games available are bag toss, giant connect four, and throwing a small ring on a hook. Next, the tickets are misleading. It says things will be "featured," but every single thing needs additional tickets. I am not sure where our tickets money went to. It seems that the hayride and pumpkins were included. I get it, it did not use the word "included," but nothing was! Even when we went to get our "free" cider at 4:30 pm, it was not even ready. This is a waste of money for families. read more

Attended their IPH Fall Fest, and I can say I won't be attending it ever again. The people at the entrance were lovely and greeted us made us feel welcomed. But everything after that was a horrible experience. The guys behind the bar were extremely rude, and had a horrible tone of voice when speaking to us as if they were annoyed to be there. Not only to my group but to another customer before us. I expected more photo pop-ups but unfortunately there weren't many I would say only about 4 locations or less to take pictures. The concept of Island Party Hut is great! They offer free lawn games like giant connect 4, ping pong and cornhole (just leave your ID at the bar and you can take the paddles or pieces). Unfortunately the drinks leave something to be desired. They were on the weaker side and weren't mixed well. The beer was cold and a much better choice.
