    Large - Honolulu Chicken

I ordered the Large - Honolulu Chicken and was very excited for large portions and high quality food. Pictures from other reviews gave me false hope that the portions would be bigger. The bigger portions would justify the price point of $16. I was not only disappointed in that but the macaroni salad was watery. Compared to another Hawaiian place I've eaten at, the portions and the quality of food was disappointing. I will not be eating here again.

I ordered to go inside the shop with their self-ordering station. I decided with the Luau pig and Huli huli chicken. The wait for the food was about 20 minutes and they have self serve tables here. Just make sure you clean up your table for the next guest! I was pretty disappointed with the luau pig. The huli huli chicken was a little better, but still disappointing. The luau pig lacked flavor. It was a good amount of tenderness, but it just lacked flavor. The Hulu Hulu chicken was seasoned a little better, but it was also a disappointment. Maybe it was an off day? Don't know, but I would've rather had fast Chinese food like Panda Express over this. Tl;dr - luau pig and huli huli chicken lacked flavor. Huli huli chicken was better though, but would probably not visit again.

If you do not consider this place authentic Hawaiian food it is very very good. Big portions and all the meats were fairly flavorful with the sauces added in and you get a nice mix of textures between the protein, Mac salad, and rice. The first time I got this I was expecting something like L&L Hawaiian or other Hawaiian bbq food or mac salad and the flavors were all off but the second time I just got it for comfort food and it was really good and lasted a few days. Get a mixed plate of the luau and the honolulu. Just one star off because again I think they'd benefit from not calling themselves authentic Hawaiian. I do wish they'd take the advice of all the reviews I've read about the mac salad and improve it because I'm usually a lover and I could barely finish it because of a weird metallic aftertaste.

Portion of chicken seems large because it's a huge amount of rice underneath.

It's in a multi-cuisine ghost kitchen front and I ordered it for delivery. It came on time and included a couple of teriyaki sauces (thin, not thick) in the bag which I didn't request, but appreciated. The portion of chicken looks big, but actually isn't because they give you tons of rice underneath. The chicken has decent flavor, but was a little dry for dark meat. Under the chicken is a large bed of rice in addition to the scoop of rice included. The mac salad was very very mayo-y and not great tasting. With tip I spent $23 and I would say it's definitely not worth the cost. Stars are for my Grubhub driver.

I was really excited to try this place--I missed the food in Hawaii. I got the classic teriyaki chicken dish--they give you A LOT of rice, almost too much. The chicken had pretty good flavor to it. It was around $20 total which I felt was a little too expensive for this. Lastly, my macaroni salad was flavored really poorly, was borderline gross with its flavor. Not to mention there was a long hair in my macaroni salad too! Wouldn't recommend this place, even with the chicken, the flavor, and value for the price is not worth it. Workers were playing around for a lot of the time that I was waiting for my food.

Large - Mixed Plate (Honolulu chicken and luau pig)

I really wanted to love this place because I love a good Hawaiian lunch place but I'd only give this place a 3.5/5. Starting off with the meats I tried 4 different options and I think the classic huli huli chicken was definitely my favorite (4.5 stars for just this dish if I order from here again I'm just getting this meat option). The other chicken options were also decent but I didn't enjoy the pork (luau pig) which was very dry and even the added sauces couldn't save it. As for the Mac salad I was super disappointed because I LOVE Hawaiian Mac salad. But this one was not very flavorful and the consistency was all wrong. Also I got these plates on Uber eats with a promo code so they were much cheaper and worth it in my opinion but I wouldn't pay full price for one of these meals

We ordered delivery, and the food came quickly and was hot. The chicken is cooked well (still juicy), and the chicken sauces are good. However, we got 3 chicken flavors and honestly we couldn't taste much of a difference between them. The rice was well made and while I initially didn't have high hopes for the veggies, they were pretty crunchy and tasty. Giving a 4 for the bang for the buck and overall flavor- I'd definitely order again when I'm in the mood for Hawaiian.

I really wanted to love Hawaiian Brothers! I'll be honest I may have too high standards for Hawaiian food. I grew up in Southern California, where there is a lot of really really good Hawaiian food and I also spent a lot of time in Hawaii growing up. So again, perhaps my standards may be high. I ordered the Molokai and my husband ordered the Honolulu. The Molokai chicken is good, very saucey, but still good. I love Mac salad. Their Mac salad didn't have much flavor, too much pepper and nothing to take away from the Mayo. I also ordered a spam musubi, it was ok but it was so flat! Typically, the spam is a bit sweeter and there is a thick layer of rice under. Maybe I just ordered on an off day, since this place seems so highly rated on yelp. Maybe I'll try it one more time in the future.

I tried Hawaiian Bros for the first time during my lunch break at work one day. I heard good things about it and was excited when I heard there's one literally right across the street from my workplace. The food was good, but I was slightly underwhelmed. I think they skimped a little with the portions - I got the Honolulu chicken and asked for extra veggies instead of their macaroni salad. When I saw other Yelp reviews and pictures of Hawaiian Bros meals, they looked more filled and just seemed to have more on their plate. When I opened my to-go box, the first thing I noticed was how much less I got than I thought I would. It wasn't a cheap meal, either (around $13/$14 with tax). The pineapple Dole whip was good, just extremely sweet. But refreshing! Overall, I would try it again. I did like the Honolulu chicken and veggies, just wish the portion size matched the price. I give this place an 8/10!

I ordered a classic mixed plate with Hulu Hulu and Honolulu chicken via DoorDash. The plate came with a TON of rice, a decent portion of chicken a top, a scoop of macaroni, and a packet of teriyaki sauce. I also ordered some extra veggies, which came in a side container, featuring steamed broccoli, zucchini, and onions. I was expecting there to be less rice and more meat - I thought the entire large section of the plate would be filled with chicken but there is a bed of rice below. Had I known, I probably would've replaced the scoop of rice with more veggies. Nonetheless, the food was pretty yummy and the portion was quite huge. I am saving part of it as a second meal.

I wanted to be more impressed with Hawaiian Brothers. I paid over $25 and feel like I mostly got rice. There's a scoop of rice on the side and rice underneath the meat which makes you think you're getting a large portion of meat but clearly not. The Mac salad didn't have much flavor and the chicken was a tad dry. Also almost $6 for a side of pineapple seemed steep. I was hoping to try a spam masubi but it wasn't available on the menu when I ordered. This was delivered via DoorDash so I can't comment on ambiance or service otherwise.

    Jessica S.

Online ordering was easy and the order was ready on time. I tried the Huli Huli chicken and Honolulu chicken. Both were good but I do prefer the teriyaki. Macaroni salad mostly tastes like mayo. It was fine but I will try the vegetables next time. Overall, a solid stop and plenty of food in the smaller mixed plate.

Those expectations were met, exceeded, and then handed back to us with a side of macaroni salad. We split the Pork Katsu Loco combination plate, which arrived looking like something the Jedi Council would have commissioned for a victory feast. The accompanying gravy was the kind that makes everything around it better, the rising tide theory of plate lunch confirmed. Every spoonful we built with rice, pork katsu, and macaroni salad together was its own complete moment. Ono does not even begin to cover it. The portions were enormous, the kind of plate that makes you recalibrate your lunch ambitions halfway through. Our son ordered the loco moco, which at this point is his standard field test at every Hawaiian spot we visit. A reliable benchmark, consistently deployed. Aloha Eats passed without hesitation. We also picked up chicken katsu musubi for each of us, took them home for later, and they held up just as well, which is a logistical victory worth noting. The vibe inside felt authentically Hawaiian without overdoing it, the kind of atmosphere that sets the right tone without requiring tiki torches and a ukulele soundtrack. Julie was our cashier and also brought out our food, handling both roles with the kind of warmth that makes a place feel like more than a transaction. Her smile genuinely lit up the room, which is not a phrase I use lightly or often. Five stars. Aloha Eats is the real deal and worth every parsec of the trip to Chicago.

For drinks, I got the seasonal Gingerbread Painkiller and my husband got a Green Flash mocktail. (Pro tip on the seasonal drinks: check the regular cocktail menu to see how many skull and crossbones are listed under the regular version of your drink, if applicable, to see if it's a super strong one!) Mine was creamy and spicy but quite powerful. Props to our waitress, Makayla, who checked if anyone at the table was epileptic, because normally the "flash" part of my husband's drink is a strobing LED ice cube; I actually am photosensitive, so it came in the drink in non-strobe mode and just glowed an alien green. She said this was the first time it had actually paid off to ask, but I'm glad she did! The food was tasty: I ordered rumaki, an old-school appetizer of bacon-wrapped water chestnuts that you don't see very often these days, and he got loaded fries. We also got a small Lola's Pizza, which was very good, with a crisp but also chewy crust. The atmosphere here is pure tiki, with a fountain, swag lamps, bamboo, and Hawaiian-influenced Christmas music playing for the season. Lots of big groups here; everyone seemed to be having as good a time as we were! What a laid-back gem in Arlington Heights! We'll be back. Mahalo!
