I got a full dinner for about $12 after tip, which feels almost impossible in the city right now. I ordered the classic plate with half Honolulu chicken and half Huli Huli chicken, plus rice and mac salad. Loved that you can mix the meats without paying extra it's super convenient and a nice way to try more. The portion was legit too, definitely enough food, even for the regular size. Flavor-wise, it totally exceeded my expectations. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, the rice was solid, and the mac salad was surprisingly tasty. For a fast-casual chain, it honestly tasted more like a local one-off spot. Will 100% be ordering again. Great value, generous portions, and super satisfying. If you do not consider this place authentic Hawaiian food it is very very good. Big portions and all the meats were fairly flavorful with the sauces added in and you get a nice mix of textures between the protein, Mac salad, and rice. The first time I got this I was expecting something like L&L Hawaiian or other Hawaiian bbq food or mac salad and the flavors were all off but the second time I just got it for comfort food and it was really good and lasted a few days. Get a mixed plate of the luau and the honolulu. Just one star off because again I think they'd benefit from not calling themselves authentic Hawaiian. I do wish they'd take the advice of all the reviews I've read about the mac salad and improve it because I'm usually a lover and I could barely finish it because of a weird metallic aftertaste. read more

It came on time and included a couple of teriyaki sauces (thin, not thick) in the bag which I didn't request, but appreciated. The portion of chicken looks big, but actually isn't because they give you tons of rice underneath. The chicken has decent flavor, but was a little dry for dark meat. Under the chicken is a large bed of rice in addition to the scoop of rice included. The mac salad was very very mayo-y and not great tasting. I was really excited to try this place--I missed the food in Hawaii. I got the classic teriyaki chicken dish--they give you A LOT of rice, almost too much. The chicken had pretty good flavor to it. It was around $20 total which I felt was a little too expensive for this. Lastly, my macaroni salad was flavored really poorly, was borderline gross with its flavor. Let me start by saying my boyfriend used to order Hawaiian Bros all the time and I thought it was gross... BUT that was before I tasted it and oh my gosh was I wrong. The chicken is so umami flavorful and the mac and cheese is so decidant and creamy. My favorites are the huli huli chicken and the Molokai. The Mac and Cheese is more of like a macaroni salad but its so unique and creamy. The chicken usually comes on a large bed of rice. The portions here are huge and I love that you can do 1/2 and 1/2 on the types of chicken. I have only ever ordered HI Bros to go - so cannot comment on the space, but delivery is always quick and seamless. This is my go-to hangover cure and I am a huge fan of this spot! read more

I really wanted to love this place because I love a good Hawaiian lunch place but I'd only give this place a 3.5/5. Starting off with the meats I tried 4 different options and I think the classic huli huli chicken was definitely my favorite (4.5 stars for just this dish if I order from here again I'm just getting this meat option). The other chicken options were also decent but I didn't enjoy the pork (luau pig) which was very dry and even the added sauces couldn't save it. As for the Mac salad I was super disappointed because I LOVE Hawaiian Mac salad. But this one was not very flavorful and the consistency was all wrong. However, we got 3 chicken flavors and honestly we couldn't taste much of a difference between them. I really wanted to love Hawaiian Brothers! I'll be honest I may have too high standards for Hawaiian food. I grew up in Southern California, where there is a lot of really really good Hawaiian food and I also spent a lot of time in Hawaii growing up. So again, perhaps my standards may be high. I ordered the Molokai and my husband ordered the Honolulu. The Molokai chicken is good, very saucey, but still good. I love Mac salad. Their Mac salad didn't have much flavor, too much pepper and nothing to take away from the Mayo. I also ordered a spam musubi, it was ok but it was so flat! Typically, the spam is a bit sweeter and there is a thick layer of rice under. Maybe I just ordered on an off day, since this place seems so highly rated on yelp. I heard good things about it and was excited when I heard there's one literally right across the street from my workplace. The food was good, but I was slightly underwhelmed. I think they skimped a little with the portions - I got the Honolulu chicken and asked for extra veggies instead of their macaroni salad. When I saw other Yelp reviews and pictures of Hawaiian Bros meals, they looked more filled and just seemed to have more on their plate. When I opened my to-go box, the first thing I noticed was how much less I got than I thought I would. It wasn't a cheap meal, either (around $13/$14 with tax). The pineapple Dole whip was good, just extremely sweet. But refreshing! Overall, I would try it again. I did like the Honolulu chicken and veggies, just wish the portion size matched the price. Hits the spot every single time, is a healthier option than other eats out there, and is enough for multiple meals unless you have been fasting for the past week or something. Prices for the Large went up to $25 on Grub hub, so surely at least they should have a real large size now that there's three choices (Small, Classic, Large). I posted an image, but basically the $25 large is the size of what used to be the Classic. I can't imagine how much smaller the other portions are. Also there is still only one small scoop of chicken on top of 3 heaping pile of rice. The macaroni salad had clumpy sour Mayo on it, which makes it seem like it's been sitting at room temp for a long time. You're getting chicken thighs for the price of steak elsewhere. I get that inflation and costs of goods have doubled lately, but this seems a bit absurd. The sad part is all the chicken is really good, but I don't think it's $25 for a small scoop good. read more

Horrible experience. This was a cloud kitchen with take out only. You order from a tablet and pick up your food in a locker. Mediocre food quality is being generous. No Dole Whip which is one of the reasons we came. The restaurant is Omaha is good. This one was a complete waste of time and money. In addition they got the order wrong. Not exactly what I expected. If you have seen my previous reviews, you know that I love Hawaiian barbecue. Although they had several different flavors of chicken, I would not consider any of them classic Hawaiian barbecue. The flavors were nice, especially in the Honolulu chicken but the macaroni salad was terrible. I was expecting sweet tangy, mayonnaise, and carrot-based pasta salad but this one is mostly pepper. I came here last week and was hoping it would be good - a lot of the reviews seem pretty hit or miss, and I guess I came on a miss day. Or the hit review authors have very different tastes from mine... I ordered the Honolulu chicken classic (~$14 including tax). The chicken was EXTREMELY salty and a little bit dry. The chicken was also put on top of some of the rice, which made the rice a salt bomb, too. The macaroni salad's flavor was bland and it was drenched in way too much sauce (which seemed to be mostly mayo). My friend ordered half Honolulu chicken and half huli huli, which she seemed to enjoy a little bit more, so maybe huli huli was the way to go. They also give two little containers of teriyaki sauce and what I assume is barbecue sauce. The first was very salty and is probably what is used to season the chicken, and the second was just a typical, sweet barbecue sauce. The ingredients listed on the teriyaki sauce were chock full of preservatives and other unpronounceable ingredients. Not great. On the pro side, the food comes out pretty fast and the portion size for the classic was pretty big. It's also pretty easy to order via the kiosks in the food hall or online. The amount of times I have eaten here in the last few months is insane. I don't know what it is, but their food is so addictingly delicious! I got the combo plate which included kalua pork, I chose the Honolulu chicken as the 2nd protein. It came with the standard white rice and mac salad. Overall flavor was decent. The pork was a little dry but still good. The Honolulu chicken was good, although my preference would've been chicken breast vs thigh meat. Minus 1 star for the mac salad. It was very thick/heavy and not much flavor. Definitely not Hawaii plate lunch quality; I couldn't finish it. Looking forward to ordering from here again. Please get the mac salad right! read more
