Mahalo! Love this place. Cool decor that's overloaded and over the top as it should be in the tiki theme. Brings me back to when I worked downtown and would meet coworkers and others at Trader Vic's in the Palmer House. Had a mai thai and my dinner companion had a strawberry daiquiri. Both were perfectly made. Had a nice side Caesar salad and cheese sticks before the thin crust pizza with was loaded with cheese and toppings. The crust was thin and had a great crunch. Food and drinks are good. They want to charge you a fee for using a debit card, which is like cash, and it is illegal in illinois and all states. They seem to think it's not. Also. wanted to purchase a glass and they charged me 35.00. A high end store wouldn't come close to that price. Would never go back again!!!! read more

This is my second time going to Lolas Pizza Palace. I was upset that the order of Tarro chips had more broken peices than larger pieices it was hard to eat the salsa with crumbs and the cost was $15 for a basket. Dont buy this not worth the money. The waitress quickly said that the tip is included I did not hear her say that but someone else at the table said she said that. We have her an extra 20% tip and she took it instead of saying it is already included in the bill. Was very dissappointed. The restaurant is so dark i could barely see the the bill and my deposit did not show that it was deducted but she said it was. I should have taken out my calculator because that it the only way I could check for sure. Not happy about this experience. Will probably not go back. read more

With the Tiki Bar decor, this place has become a really cool place to take your friends and enjoy some food and drink. This restaurant is one of those places that has so many decorations around every corner of each area that you have to really visit it to fully experience the atmosphere. For a place that is very themed, the price of the pizza is surprisingly reasonable at under $30 for a family sized meal that is probably subsidized a bit by their large menu of fancy themed drinks. We came to Lola's after reading the good reviews. With reservations on a Friday night we were seated quickly and served promptly. The ladies in the group got their signature tropical cocktails, I got a beer. We had the Luau Sliders and some teriyaki ribs, both good. For pizza we had the Thai Chicken and a "build your own". This place is awesome. I came here for the second time tonight with a long time friend. The pizza was awesome. The pan was awesome on my first visit. And tonight I enjoyed the in crust. We split a family in half and it was just enough. Only 2 pieces left over. I have to try the beer crust and extra thin crust next time. The only thing is the parking is tight. Some times it totally filled because the parking lot is small. And they are only open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. They are closed Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Overall, it was a decent experience. The parking lot was a bit tight, which made it a little tricky to park. Our server was really nice and friendly! The ambiance was fun and lively, okay for a casual meal out. We ordered the "serves 3" Zombie, and the server told us how much each individual-sized Zombie was, we realized we could've just ordered 3 regular Zombies for a cheaper price, which was a bit of a bummer. Missed opportunity. The pizza was fine, but not something that stood out to us. Also, we ordered a burger and asked for mustard, and we were charged for the mustard, which was a little unexpected. Moving this to 3-star. I will say, the drinks and food are still 5-star every time i have been! We were there with 4 guys looking to spend a little money and have a great time at one of the best bars in the Suburbs. $400 was the total bill between our group. However, on this visit, the server took the liberty of placing an auto-gratuity on our group of 4 and not saying a word about it. Not only was the auto-gratuity not mentioned to our party, circled, highlighted, etc, the receipt was purposely discreetly tucked into the check presenter as so we were not to notice. I looked over the menu and website and didn't' see anything about this being their policy. I think it was mentioned that tables of 5 or 6 or more would be subject to an auto gratuity....which is fair...however, we were 4 guys. The ironic thing is, with all 4 of us being in the business we would of left more than what the autograt got the server. Service was really good...i was planning on leaving $50 on $180...but enjoy the $37 guy! I have a feeling this little trick works more times than it doesn't, so the server is still coming out ahead. I don't know if we came on an off night or what happened as our experience does not align with the other reviews. The only positive of the night were our drinks - when we could get them (our server was incredibly overwhelmed and kept forgetting to bring our drinks). We started off with the Luau sliders and cheddar bacon fries. The pork on the sliders was dry and lacked flavor. The cheddar bacon fries were soggy and over-salted. Next was the thin crust Lola's special. It was very overcooked and burnt on the bottom, practically inedible. My fiance will eat pretty much everything and declined having seconds. A hidden gem! Lola's is much more than a pizza place. Inside this location is the Kahala Koa tiki bar, which transports you to a different place. The dining room provides a full tiki environment, from a water fountain to festive decor all around. The dining menu is pretty standard -- pizza, salads, sandwiches. It's the drink menu that steals the show. So many tropical drinks to choose among, and each with a unique prevention. One of my friends ordered the Smoking Eruption, a fruity drink that we assume was poured over dry ice, as it emitted "smoke" and sizzled as though it was full of Pop Rocks for a few minutes. So cool! My other friend and I both opted for the Purple Puffer, which tasted like a liquid grape Jolly Rancher and came served in adorable fish-shaped glasses topped with pineapple and decorative leaves. It was truly a unique suburban experience. I've only knocked off one star because we had a strange experience when it came to paying the bill. One of us contributed cash, and other other two asked for specific amounts to be put on our credit cards. Combined, we were leaving about a 25% tip. When our server returned with our cards, the one that was supposed to have $35 on it was charged a random $38.95, and the one that was supposed to have $50 on it was charged $50.95, so she basically added $5 to her tip without our consent and never mentioned to us that the amounts were different than we'd authorized. The cards had already been swiped, so we figured there wasn't much that could be done. But we found this very odd and it was sort of an annoying way to end our fun night out. We ordered carry out from Lola's to celebrate a birthday. We got a cheese and sausage pizza as well as a BBQ pizza. Both were family sized. The pizzas were cooked right and had plenty of sauce. Evidence of the quality came when we had a half pizza left after feeding six people. I'm sure it will make good leftovers. I recommend carry out since the restaurant and parking lot is small. We have tried a lot of the specialty drinks here - never disappointed! The food is really good here. House cut fries are really good, wings very good, pizza excellent! I recommend the beer crust. So we got a reservation for 6:30p for Sunday night for dinner. The waiter was so awesome. He was the only waiter but very fast, attentive and checked us in a lot to make sure we were okay despite he had all the customers to check in. The food was great as well! Came in to Lola's to try the Kahala Koa Tiki Lounge and I was not disappointed in my drinks! The atmosphere is so cute and very tropical. I was pleased to see it wasn't packed to the gills like some of the other tiki bars in the area are, there was actually space between tables and you could hear yourself talk to the people you came in with. The light fixtures in particular were really neat and we had a fun time looking at them! The drinks were great! I had a rum barrel first and it was delicious. Very fruity and you could definitely taste the rum. I decided to switch to a banana daquiri which was a little less sweet and a little less packed with rum, but still equally as good. It also came with a cute little banana dolphin on the rim Now, the only thing we didn't like was the food. Granted we did not try the pizza, but we had a few things off their appetizer menu and both of us went home feeling sick to our stomachs. It was just all really heavy. Drinks, atmosphere, and service are top notch! Especially the drinks, one of the more creative and pleasing tiki drink places you'll find anywhere in Illinois. With that being said, the reason for the 1 star is due to the shady business tactics of the owner. Applying auto grat to a party of 4 when the menu clearly stated that it would be added to parties of 5 or more is definitely not okay, and then to not announce it when the check was presented or communicate this charge in any way shape or form is also far from acceptable. It's really a shame to see such an awesome place suffer due to lack of morals or concept of reality from ownership/management. And then to see the owner respond to another review with similar issues with such unprofessionalism is all i need to know about this place, ownership is clueless. Myself and the other 3 people i was with all work in the f&b industry and without the auto grat we would have left more money for the server than what they got due to the auto grat, so nice job you cost your employee money. And because of all the bs games the owner wants to play with unhappy customers we will not be returning, so you cost your employees even more money by not generating returning customers. Also, telling unhappy customers they are wrong with problems like this is a slippery slope, especially when it seems like some of your policies aren't exactly "street legal". It is also pretty embarrassing that your patrons seem to know what your menu does and doesn't say better than management! Maybe take some time and decide what the appropriate party size is to take advantage of and stick to it. I am seeing a lot of pictures stating auto grat for parties over 5, 6, etc. So if you're going to be crooks at least be consistent. Here's another tip for the owner you dont have to auto grat, DO NOT DECIEVE YOUR CUSTOMERS, it makes you look like an a-hole. read more

Went last night for drinks and an appetizer and had a great time! Pros: the atmosphere is awesome! It truly feels like a vacation/ escape from reality. We also really enjoyed our drinks. Recommendations for the restaurant: put your prices on the menu for drinks. It's frustrating as a customer having to guess whether a drink will cost $8 or $18, especially because you have drinks for groups. This place also seems to have an identity crisis. Based off the exterior and what I could find online, I expected two separate places, Lola's Pizza and Kahala Koa Tiki Bar. But it's all one place. So why the two names? And to make it even more confusing, the menu says "Lola's Tiki"... a mixture of the two? So why not just make it one cohesive place? Anyways, overall, will be back! Few good points the place had good ambience, quite a long list of drinks with good presentation and with large portions of food but coming to the Negatives we had to wait in-spite of making a reservation, you could barely hear any music the service was bad where we had to wait for long time for food, drinks.Not sure if it was Friday rush but we had to ask our server multiple times for basic things like water or straws, food was underwhelming felt like something out of a box. Not one inch has been missed in turning this place into an Hawaiian Mecca. The decor is authentic and well done. Fancy drinks were great, adorned with fresh flowers and herbs in fun glass wear. The menu has been expanded from pizza and light apps to include burgers, salads, pasta and desert. We celebrated a birthday and they supplied a great chocolate cake with nice tropical decor. Our group enjoyed wings that were good, pot stickers that were also good, nothing special. The pizzas were were very good. Love this place! We found out about this little gem thru a Facebook page about tiki bars and I'm so glad we went to check it out. It's located on rand road next door to the Thornton's gas station in Arlington heights. We had come from a party and weren't that hungry so we had 2 appetizers and a tropical drink. YUM!!!! One of the top potato skins I've had! Crispy and not over done and flavorful. Also had this app that was bacon and water chestnuts with a sweet sauce. Very good as well!! Finally tried lolas and was not disappointed. The drink was delicious. It was a bit pricier of a drink than what I usually go for but it was fancy, fun and very refreshing so was worth the splurge. The pizza very really good. A friend recommended the beer crust so I gave that a try. The crust was perfectly crunchy. Not sure I tasted the beer in the crust but it was really good. The atmosphere was lots of fun. The tiki theme was everywhere even the bathroom was in theme. It was a little dark in the space but once our eyes adjusted we were good.
