Salad was small but very good. The pizza slightly better that freezer pizza. Sauce was canned. Crust was uninspired and toppings were very good. Pizza comes in one size. To go pizza was most popular. They had Scotch Ale from Bellingham which was excellent. ADA access was limited from the gravel parking lot. In the restaurant we could get around well. We watched the Seahawks game on the TV. Hands down the best pizza on the island!!! They give you an option to customize your pizza and you can choose different flavours in the same pizza. Basically 2 in 1 We got takeout and enjoyed the delicious pizza on our water view hotel room. Perfect date night! We ordered one half as the white pizza and the other half was americas favourite. An absolute gem on the west side of the island. This definitely is not your normal pizza parlor. From Margaret sourcing the organic ingredients to their distinctive and tasty crust this is a place for good food. I'm a real fan of the fall mushroom appetizer as well as the veggie pizza. Island Pie is the BEST pizza in the islands! Hands down! We keep our boat in Deer Harbor and I have to fight the urge to have pizza every weekend. Our favorite pie is the sausage, with the crispy onions on top. Their crust is fabulous and the offer a GF crust which is almost as good! I'm also a big fan of their desserts. For those reviews who are unhappy with the operating model, I'm pretty sure those are the same folks who don't want to wear a mask. The owners of Island Pie have put in place protocols to protect their employees. If those are an inconvenience to you, the DH marina sells frozen pizzas - go enjoy one. read more

Across from the Deer Harbor Marina, Island Pie is a great place to grab gourmet pizza, pasta or dessert and watch the sunset. The owners are friendly and helpful. We came in after the power went out at our rental, but Island Pie was up and running (with a limited menu) and still serving hot pies. We order the seasonal squash pizza and it was delicious! In 30 years of visiting the island, I've come across a few restaurants that were disappointing, but Island Pie is the only one to earn the distinction of being a disgrace. My wife and I and four friends arrived on time for our 6pm appointment. Our first pizza arrived two hours later. It wasn't the worst tasting pizza we'd ever had, but the delay was ridiculous. During that period, we witnessed other patrons expressing frustration with their delayed orders. No one was happy. The most disturbing thing was seeing a toddler under the age of two, we suspect the child of the owner, standing by himself on an unstable structure that had him several feet off the ground. We brought this to our server's attention, who said, "I've only been here one day." The view of the marina is lovely, but the terrible service and mediocre pizza will make sure you don't enjoy it. Avoid this restaurant at all costs. It's a nightmare. read more

Totally loved our dining experience at Island Pie. Wine, beer, salad and pizza pies were all delicious. We saw the owner Margaret on the marina docks and she explained the online ordering process implemented to address Covid-19 concerns. As easy as Pie! We made our reservation for a specific time, paid and tipped upfront, we were seated as scheduled and our food & drinks delivered to us quickly. Great deck and shade umbrellas. Pretty nifty set up. And the follow up was stellar...! You know how you request your left overs be boxed to take with you after a meal? Well, like many others do, we left our box on the table. Margaret called and left me a voice mail. I didn't see the message until we left the docks the following day. Margaret ended up saving the box and delivered the left over pizza to our dining companions who were still at the dock. Those lucky stiffs! Service above and beyond. Great pizzas! The service is a tad slow and the pizza is like an elevated frozen pizza. My whole group's stomach hurts now, after it took us 2 hours to get served and eat 2 pizzas. Pizza is still just a good food, and this was the only restaurant open in Deer Harbor/Orcas Village/West Sound, so 3 stars. They played only Jimmy Buffet the whole time. read more

The good. Nice view of the harbor from this place. Not good. Very slow even while not busy. The pizza seems like a frozen pizza. You can see the perforated holes in the machine made crust. Really great flavors, friendly service, and a nice view. You order at the counter and then choose your seat, either inside or outside on the deck, which has a beautiful view of the harbor. The menu is kind of small, but I didn't mind... makes decisions a lot easier! I ordered the Seasonal Squash pizza (vegetarian) with a glass of red that was recommended with that pizza on the menu. Nice! The wine was tasty and the flavors of the pizza were really delicious! It included a base ("sauce) of roasted butternut squash, yam puree, fresh chopped herbs, and roasted onions. The pizza was topped with shredded cheese as well as crumbled feta and a yummy balsamic reduction drizzle. The perfect combo of sweet and salty with a hit of acid. The pizza itself was about 12" across, maybe slightly smaller, The crust was on the thin side and decent, although not as tender as I was hoping. One pizza will feed one very hungry big-eater, although I would recommend splitting a pizza and maybe sharing a salad too. I was pretty hungry after hiking and demolished an entire pizza (oops) because I didn't want to deal with leftovers. The interior of the restaurant is nothing special, but it's clean and sufficient. Prices are pretty normal for the island, about $20 for one pizza. I arrived around 7:15 pm on a Thursday and the place was about half full (including the deck) and more people trickled in throughout the evening. I would come again when visiting Orcas in the future. read more

First: the pizza was incredible. The toppings were well paired and delicious--simple enough to be approachable yet unique enough to be interesting. Working on Orcas for a month, staying outside Deer Harbor. It's the off season, so not a lot of places open consistently. Was in the mood for pizza and didn't want to drive 25 minutes to Eastsound; really glad I stopped by to get an Island Pie to go. They were happy to accommodate my own fave combo--pepperoni, pineapple, jalapeño--and I wandered around the beach/marina area for 20 minutes while they made it fresh...it was delicious. We really enjoyed our pizza and garlic knots tonight from Island Pie! We were able to easily order takeout via their website, and we picked it up right on time. We had the half & half pizza, choosing 1/2 white pizza & 1/2 sausage & fennel. It was delish and hit the spot! I didn't think to take a picture. Do not go here if your family has food allergies! Man I was so excited to try this place. Unfortunately, the service was so poor I will not be coming back. Not only was there an allergy mix up where nuts were used on my husbands salad (he's extremely allergic) but the staff was rude and unorganized. Ingredients were also left off of my pizza and with a high price point, it was such a letdown.I have contacted the owners via private email (two months ago) and got no response. read more

This was our first trip to Orcas Island, and were excited to try Island Pie. We placed our order online for a pepperoni pizza, Island salad, and two sodas to pick up. We received a phone call a few minutes later saying that they had a large party that night, and our order would likely be ready around 7:20 (we ordered a bit before 5:00). Since we weren't that hungry, we said that was fine. We arrived at 7:20, only to be told that the order hadn't been started yet, and could we come back in about 20 minutes. We did so, and were told it was in the oven. All told, it took us around 3 hours to get a pizza, a tiny $14 salad, and two sodas. The pizza and salad were fine, nothing really to write home about. I might suggest to the owners that if you know you have a large party that will pretty much paralyze your kitchen for hours, put up a sign on the door and online that you're not taking outside orders that night. Focus on what you can provide and when you can provide it. read more

Not sure how this establishment received 4.5 starts. Views are nice, I'll give them that, other than that it was just bad. Pizzas ($22 a piece) were really bad. The squash pizza is way too sweet. The dough tasted like it was pre baked then frozen and baked again. They were out of half of the menu items. The only salad that was available came in a paper "boat" and had nothing in it that worth the price. We ended up paying $95 for 3 pies and 1 salad, no drinks. read more

Margaret the owner is very nice and make sure you feel welcome. Super busy at 5 to 6 so we took a drive and came back at 7:30 when less crowded and sat outside. Nice view of the marina and water. Lots of bunnies hanging out munching on grass. Desserts looks good, but to full from pizza darn it. Oh did I mention the crust? We adore this place, and it's vegan friendly!  Love their bruschetta (just order it w/o cheese) - if you eat it all to yourself, it's very filling.  Mushroom appetizer is good, and can be made vegan. I haven't yet tried the beet salad, but it looks delish. And they have a pizza with roasted squash and yams that can be made vegan (request w/o the cheese) - this is a bit bland, but next time I might ask for some of that tasty shallot oil to drizzle on top and turn the flavor up to 11. :-) My non-vegan friends like the sausage pizza. I've never written a review before but I was so disappointed tonight that it motivates me to write my first. I swear the mac and cheese was a frozen microwaveable mac and cheese that they put on a plate and charge $19 for. The pizza wasn't great either, the crust tasted like frozen pizza crust and it just had no flavor. Hard to understand some of the 4-5 star reviews when the pizza here is so horrible. Do they have two pizza cooks, and one is great and the other terrible? We stopped in after a hike to get some pie (apple pie) and, I must say that was delicious pie (despite the fact it took 20 minutes to get us a slice of apple pie when no one else was there). Thought we would take a pizza to go for dinner later that night. Tried to ask the waitress all the right questions (thick or thin crust, etc.) but got vague answers (at least be educated about what you serve). "12 oz dough ball" we were told. Can't see a pizza first, so had to order blind. Ordered the pepperoni. As the menu says "a pie like no other!" (That's for sure, as no one can screw up a pepperoni pizza as bad as this place). "Piled high with pepperoni..." (if one layer of scattered, thin pepperonis is "piled high" then I don't understand), and "full on cheese" (which was a dusting of some sort of cheese that was overcooked). Basically wound up with a $20 super thin, odd-ball shaped pizza with barely any meat, and a spattering of overbaked cheese on top. Not sure who the owner is, but for godsake...do some quality control and give your help staff the info to answer basic questions. I can't SEE a pizza before I order it, so I'm hoping and praying it looks and tastes great. But not this one. And, FWIW, even the kids hated it. I've always said "there's no such thing as a bad pizza"...I was wrong. I did email the owner, but after 2 days have not heard back. read more

My wife and I pulled into our hotel and were looking for a place to eat as it was getting late. Luckily Island Pie was still open. Both the food and conversation were amazing. The butternut squash pizza was great as it wasn't too heavy. The couple who run the restaurant gave us some ideas on what do while we were in town and we came back a few days later as they made us some sandwiches that they are trying out for our hike. Pizza Pie was pretty good, only issue was that the pie was a bit sparse on cheese and meat ingredients. The owners truly care about their reviews I learned, so upgraded my review a bit. Hours are confusing, but my bad on how i read that. I Felt like giving this a 4 star, but will still wait to edit my review after the 2nd visit/taste like i usually do. The Family and Friends really appreciated the GF option on crust, but an omission or GF beer would go a long way with a GF pizza. I don't typically judge on that however. --RibChamp read more
