Some of the best veggie pizza we've had, and we've had lots of pizza! We shared a 16" spinach and parmesan and it was more than we could finish. Had three pieces left over for lunch the following day. Service was very friendly and attentive. We ate outside in their booths and were comfortable on a rather warm day. The restaurant is clean and beautifully landscaped in the patio where we ate. Highly recommend and fully deserving of its high Yelp rating. read more

Being mainly a tourist town, Friday Harbor isn't necessarily the greatest of dining destinations. Many of the establishments cater to the 'one and done' tourist crowd, but Van Go's Pizza is a real gem that has the chops to maintain a devoted regular clientele. THE ROSES: Located a block off the main drag in Friday Harbor, VGP is situated in a cozy, peaceful space. On nice days I highly recommend dining in the garden space out back. The salads and pizzas are excellent; they only do a relatively thin crust pizza, but it is done perfectly, and the toppings are of excellent quality. They have a very good selection of pizzas on offer; all the 'usual suspects', and a very creative selection of their own concoctions. For the GF crowd, they also offer a very nice 10" GF crust. Very good selection of wines, ciders, and beers (both bottle and tap). The staff is truly delightful; friendly and very efficient. They really leave you feeling that they appreciate your business. THE THORNS: The menu seems a little limited in that it appears to be just pizza and salads, but I think I'd rather dine in a place that does a few things really well rather than one that has a menu that's 'A jack of all trades but master of none'. THE VERDICT: Van Go's Pizza is a real standout on the Friday Harbor casual dining scene. It definitely worth the short walk up from the ferry landing and away from the tourist traps. Cute little spot on the edge of downtown, we all loved it. Service was wonderful, they are running around taking care of everybody. The pizza was delicious, if we were in town longer, I would've gone back. Cool atmosphere, the back garden is a beautiful place to sit and eat amongst the flowers. They sell a couple of baked goods that we grabbed on the way out, snickerdoodle cookies were delicious. If you're in Friday Harbor, put this at the top of your list. read more

Best pizza I've had since I don't remember. Probably since the Hot Tomato in Colorado and this might be better! I wish we had been around long enough to sample the entire menu. Everything we tried was absolutely out of the park: great and unique combinations packed with flavor. We were here off season and got to enjoy a pretty peaceful atmosphere in their comfortable dining area. I imagine in summer it could get nutty but this is pizza I'd easily wait an hour or more for. The pizza at Van Go's is some of the best I've ever had. We discovered them a few years ago while staying in Friday Harbor. We heard of Van Go's from friends and Yelp, so when in Friday Harbor we had to try them. A short walk up the hill from the marina, we looked forward to a good pizza.. we were not disappointed. A beautiful shady garden patio and we greeted by a charming and pleasant woman who took our order. Margarita and chicken Gorgonzola pizzas with a pitcher of beer. Recently went to Friday Harbor for a trip and what better way to start than some pizza? Got the Prosciutto & Pear and it was incredible. Everything was really good and well balanced. The crust nailed that sweet spot of not too heavy and not too thin, but specifically on ours the basalmic reduction was standout. I think I could give that 5 stars on its own. If you go, make sure to look at the baked goods in the case. We were too full for them after but they looked really good. On the other hand, we were too full of delicious pizza. This was our favorite place to eat on the island! Their prices were comparably very reasonable, the pizzas and salad we tried were both delicious, and the host was very attentive and friendly. The gluten free crust is pretty decent. I had the pear and prosciutto and it was very good. For a pizza to go it was the perfect place.

The toppings were great. I personally prefer thinner, wood-fired style crust, while this crust was a little thicker than that. ***** My Star Ratings: 1 Star - Terrible. Just thinking about it makes me angry. 2 Stars - Meh. Unlikely for me to return. 3 Stars - OK. Open to coming back, but wouldn't go out of my way to. 4 Stars - Yummy! The pizza was pretty good - cheesy, soft crust, and hand tossed! Would give the pizza a 4 star rating! We got a cheese pizza and a veggie pizza with olives, onions, and roasted garlic (asked for no arugula but they added it anyways). Giving a total of 4 stars for the food mostly but experienced really poor service. Walked in to pay for and pick up pizzas, and was met with a cashier on the phone with a customer. Who answers the phone with "What do you want?" No hello, hi, nothing. The cashier who rung me out was rude and uninterested... the cook was even worse in terms of service and his attitude. There were some people sitting and eating inside and I felt embarrassed on behalf of the restaurant for how they were acting with customers... From others I spoke to on the Island, this is a pretty standard experience for this restaurant - unfortunate! All in all, go for the pizza and limit your time interacting with the employees to save yourself some headache and negativity. read more

I visited Friday Harbor for the Holidays and Van Go was suggested to me. The shop was super warm and welcoming and the staff was very kind. The pizza looked great but nothing special really. However, it was SUPERB! I ordered the pepperoni pizza (keeping it classy) and it had hidden layers or pepperoni all over and tons of cheese. It was baked to perfection with a soft inside and crunchy bottom. If it wasn't Christmas Eve I'd pick one up to take home. Will be back. Highly suggest! read more

Excellent dining experience. Was our first time here and we absolutely loved it. We had the portabella mushroom and salami pizza. Absolutely delicious and the thin crispy crust was perfect. Definitely plan to return next time we are in Friday Harbor. It turns out this little restaurant was my high school baseball coach Doug Guard and his wife Lori Guard's house in the mid 1980's. Fantastic pizza. I just tried this pizza for the first time. It's very good. I got the Three Meat pizza. I have zero complaints. I definitely recommend this place for any visitors who are familiar with the Island. Whatever you do do not go to Cousin Vinny's for pizza, come here instead. I lived on the island sept-dec 2020 and this place was a god send. After the first time getting it, I knew it was definitely the best pizza on the island. I haven't lived on the island in 7 months, and have since been convinced it is the best pizza in Washington for not a week has gone by where I didn't think about this place. No other pizza place I've gone to (ever!) has even come close to Van Go's. This place is so good that I'm this close to making the 5 hour trek up to the island just for their pizza. read more

I ordered in the restaurant and our pizza was ready within 20 minutes on a Friday. It was still hot and fresh when we got home. Very good pizza option on the island. Food is great and staff is very friendly. My daughter loved the cheese pizza and my son has a new all time favorite: the buffalo hot wing.
