I appreciate that there's a fun pizza joint on this island. It's a really laid-back kind of place, and stapled to the walls are dollar bills that customers have signed with black Sharpies. Very interesting. I wish I had gotten our server's name, but she was absolutely wonderful. She was so kind and understanding, and communicative when our food wasn't coming out as quickly as it probably should have. Our waitress felt like a Southern grandma who cared about us. She really made the whole evening worthwhile. As a vegan, I had wished they offered more options, but I settled on ordering a pizza with veggies and no cheese. I liked the crust which was thin and crispy. There were a good amount of vegetables too. I ended up adding a little salt and red pepper flakes to make it more flavorful. We enjoyed our quick lunch at Island Pizza. The waitress was freshly and did accept my Entertainment coupon for buy 1 get 1 entree free. The pizza came out fast and was fresh. The Mediterranean pizza was delicious. The waitress did box up our leftovers. Plenty of seating and parking. The ambience is relaxed and they have dollar bills signed by people who've been there all over the restaurant. The price for one of the 10in pizzas was $21. I'm not a huge pizza fan & when we get one, we usually go for the "all meat" version for my husband. Island Pizza's is called the Hogs-N-Horns. We got the 18" for $27. Not bad at all since we brought home half the pizza as leftovers. OMG, I think it is one of THE BEST pizzas I've ever eaten! I love the thin crust, lots of cheese & meat. Normally I have to ask for ranch dressing to "cover" the pizza flavors I don't care for but not this pizza! I ate it as prepared & it was SOOOO DELICIOUS! The restaurant was immaculately clean. Plenty of seating. Nice music ambience. There's also a bar with TVs. And my husband said the men's bathroom was spotless. The waitress (owner?) was extremely friendly & very accommodating. We came here because it's advertised as the best pizza on the island but we were pleasantly surprised to find that their chicken wings were absolutely amazing! They were crispy and delicious and came out piping hot. They were also well coated in the delicious barbecue sauce that we ordered. The place has a good atmosphere with dollar bills hung up all around the area. The pizza came out right afterwards and the service Sophia provided was excellent, but we were a little underwhelmed with the pizza dough.... we just expected it to be crunchier and better. I like to try new places for pizza so I figured I'd give Island Pizza a go. I wasn't sure what I was expecting, but this wasn't it. I got my pizza to go, so I only got a quick look inside. Seemed more bar than restaurant, basically there were more barstools than tables and chairs. Employees were OK. The pizza though, was like a cross between a school pizza with the overly sweet sauce and not really melting cheese, and a frozen thin crust you bake at home. I really like the setup that they have here. They have a nice outdoor patio to sit and eat your pizza. The staff inside was very nice and welcoming. Now for the pizza. This was an average pizza. It's the thickness of a ny pizza the dough is a little soft and flops when you hold it. The cheese was pretty average age didn't have a ton of flavor. We came here and dined in recently while visiting family on Sanibel. The pizza itself was quite tasty, if greasy, and the chicken wings were excellent! We also had a caesar salad to share. The pizzas were large - it would have been nice if it was easier to see the rounds they have way up on the wall to show the size of the pizzas (we were juggling young kids and orderd in a hurry). Overall, it was decent pizza but not amazing. Taking off one more star as it smelled pretty badly of urine/bathrooms where we were sitting near the bar at a larger table. Maybe this would have been better at the tables by the windows, but where we were it was unfortunately quite noticeable! The service was good and the location is very central. read more

I'm confused about the negative reviews. This place was great! Our waitress made sure our drinks were full and was very attentive. Zero complaints. I feel bad giving a sub par review because there was no bad experience. We got an extra large pizza with sausage for takeout. Honestly it tasted like a frozen pizza. The sausage was chopped into tiny pieces and had that frozen taste, the crust was chewy with lots of flour, and the cheese was eh.. It was a bit below average but not awful. All three were great but the veggie was my personal favorite. The thinly sliced vegetables and chopped tomatoes on it make it so good! Just ate at this location this past Friday evening. We arrived around 6pm the restaurant was not busy upon our arrival but it did pretty much fill up prior to us leaving. The atmosphere reminded us of a small cozy pizza place in the woods as it is tucked away on the Island and was decorated for Christmas. Very nice touch. The service was excellent. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. The pizza was better than good with respect to Florida pizza standards. Sorry pizza is not the best here in FL.. Not greasy crispy crust and well cooked. We had a meatball and mushroom build your own pizza very good. I would suggest ordering an xtra-Lg pizza as the large is not what a typical Lg pizza would be as it is on the smaller side. We now know for future visits. They have an in house smoked brisket and pulled pork sandwich. To the location owner/manager, I would recommend offering those meat selections on your pizza with a BBQ sauceoption as a sauce base for the pizza.. Yummy. All in all a very good experience and we are so happy to see this business and others on the Island reestablishing themselves after the storm, so cut them a break and leave positive reviews to help them continue to re-build the business. We were looking for a place that was affordable and delicious without being seafood. Hard to find on an island. Wow is this place underrated!! There was one other car in the parking lot which made us second guess our choice as almost all the other restaurants are constantly full. However we were met with friendly staff and an amazing waitress. Service was super quick and we got our food in a short amount of time. Our party ordered the Hawaiian 10", the Greek white 10", and the islander 14". All of us enjoyed our pizza and we had enough for lunch the next day. The pizza tasted delicious and fresh! The crust was super delicious. And the pizza was still tasty even after microwaving it for lunch the next day. And a plus- they use paper straws! Good for the environment! We stopped here on our last day of our vacation. As it is Lent we needed to order meatless. We started with the toasted ravioli which was delicious. My husband ordered their Margherita pizza on the gluten free crust (celiac). The the crust was thin, thoroughly cooked, and (most importantly) did not taste like cardboard. My youngest son ordered the 10" cheese pizza. I had a 10" pineapple pizza. My older son ordered a 14" Margherita pizza. They were all very tasty! Our server Whitney greeted us warmly and came to check on us often to make sure everything was ok. We were overall very pleased with our visit.
