Dollar bill bar

We came here because it's advertised as the best pizza on the island but we were pleasantly surprised to find that their chicken wings were absolutely amazing! They were crispy and delicious and came out piping hot. They were also well coated in the delicious barbecue sauce that we ordered. The place has a good atmosphere with dollar bills hung up all around the area. The pizza came out right afterwards and the service Sophia provided was excellent, but we were a little underwhelmed with the pizza dough.... we just expected it to be crunchier and better. It was a little bit chewy and my daughter said it tasted like it came.oit of the freezer Overall a cool little spot to grab some wings, a cold drink and decent pizza..... still searching for the best pie on the island though!

I really like the setup that they have here. They have a nice outdoor patio to sit and eat your pizza. The staff inside was very nice and welcoming. Now for the pizza. This was an average pizza. It's the thickness of a ny pizza the dough is a little soft and flops when you hold it. The cheese was pretty average age didn't have a ton of flavor. The meatballs were chopped into fine purses and were probably my favorite part.

White Pizza

I'm confused about the negative reviews. This place was great! Our waitress made sure our drinks were full and was very attentive. Zero complaints. We ordered a large Hogs-N-Horns and a large White Pizza. Both were great and the crust was perfect. We're excited to come back next time we're in town.

We were going to go to traders next door but when we walked in no one acknowledged us so we decided to go next door to island pizza and it was a good choice. The people were really nice. The pizza was amazing and it was fast. The place itself is really nice.

I feel bad giving a sub par review because there was no bad experience. We got an extra large pizza with sausage for takeout. Honestly it tasted like a frozen pizza. The sausage was chopped into tiny pieces and had that frozen taste, the crust was chewy with lots of flour, and the cheese was eh.. It was a bit below average but not awful. Great service, great price, but below average pizza.

The hogs and horns

Sanibel's local pizza shack. The decor is kind of a chaotic, hot mess: signed dollar bills stapled to the walls, college pennants circling the room, a huge Clydesdale painted on the wall, and a strangely hypnotic, poured epoxy floor somewhat reminiscent of a Jackson Pollock. But hey, who cares? You didn't come here for some bougie chic vibe. You came here sandy and salty and sunburned from the beach for a classic pie and a cold beer, and that's what you're gonna get, my friend. I gravitate toward the hogs and horns. Pizza has good crust and cheese but sauce is very minimal. Try the local mango flavored beer. Dine in, pick up or delivery. Be prepared to wait a long time for your order. 5* = incredible (rare) 4* = very good/ strong desire to return 3* = generally good experience 2* = poor/ no desire to return 1* = a particularly awful experience

Delicious!

Ordered our first night on Sanibel after a long travel day. Very mediocre and expensive. Would not order again.

The crust makes the pizza and they do it well. We called in our order, it was ready on the dot and we took it to the beach nearby. Yum!

The atmosphere was so fantastic and we loved looking at all the pics. Our waitress was the absolute best. We think her name was Kelly. We got calamari and Shiahito peppers. They were so amazing. We got grouper tacos, classic hamburger, fried grouper and shrimp, Parmesan oysters and chicken wings. We all gave five starts reviews! We highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!

There's numerous tv screens to watch all the games - some booths even have their own screen. Aside from the sports decor, The Sanibel Grill has a very similar menu to Timbers Restaurant next door - I'm pretty sure the two are one and the same and share the same kitchen. I ordered the Grouper Fish tacos. You can get them blackened, fried, or grilled. I opted for fried. Note that the Sanibel Grill is known for their signature cornflake crunchy batter - but the grouper fish tacos are the lightly breaded bites and not cooked in their signature batter. The grouper was nicely cooked - tender and delicate bites. They used corn tortillas, which didn't fall to pieces while eating, but they were pretty flimsy (it was easy for a grouper bite to roll out). The tacos are served with rice pilaf topped with black beans which was on the bland side (nothing to write home about). I would've liked a hit of lime to add to my tacos, but the waitress never came back to check on us. Service is minimal. This is bar service all around. My friend ordered the combo basket (Grouper and fried shrimp) and comes with a side of fries and cole slaw. You can hear the crunch - I can see why it's their signature. My sister ordered the shrimp scampi with rice pilaf (she was hoping for pasta but that was not a side option - it's either rice pilaf or potatoes - smashed, French fried, or sweet potato fries). It also came with fresh green beans. The shrimp were nicely cooked and super buttery. She also ordered the crab bisque which was creamy and had good crab flavor, but I wouldn't say it was overloaded with crab meat. We finished the meal with a slice of Florida's signature key lime pie. The slice was small but had giant key lime flavor. It was very sweet but this was my favorite key lime pie slice from our whole trip. The Sanibel Grill gave us average food and average service. No military discount here.

But it's…read morebeen 3 yrs since our last trip to Sanibel and since Dante's is right on the grounds of the Sanibel Inn where we're staying, we figured it deserved another visit. After spending most of the morning and part of the afternoon on the beach, hubs was craving pizza. Me? I had my doubts. Outside of NYC, I wasn't exactly convinced Sanibel was about to serve up a killer pie. I was wrong. Because for these parts, it's tasty alright. Dante's has a unique layout with a winding staircase leading up to a circular dining area. We started with the jumbo shrimp appetizer, doused in this creamy, spicy, garlicky, Parmesany-packed sauce that was totally outstanding. Then we each ordered our own 10" individual pie. Hubs went with the pepperoni, I chose the white pizza with mushrooms, minus the prosciutto. He loved his and I enjoyed mine too- but it needed more mushrooms. As for the pizza, the base is kinda thin but not paper-thin, the crust has a light and airy rise with a crisp feel- but not like a cracker. Shout-out to our server, Julia, who was friendly and attentive. Looks like Dante's has really stepped up for good. Hope it doesn't change.
