DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS (I WOULD SAY BUSINESS) BUT FROM EVERYTHING I NOW HAVE READ IT SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN. SO hopefully it won't be allowed to lure innocent consumers. My story starts out two years ago when we had to replace our existing above ground pool due to Sandy. We bought the same pool spent close to $4,000 to have it installed with "white glove installation". Installation went ok but footprints all left at bottom of the pool from the installer. Didn't complain cause so much still going on with rebuilding from Sandy. Now come the pools third summer all of a sudden the pool lost all its color on the bottom of the liner. Called early June (on hold for ever and ever) finally after multiple phone calls they tell me to send pictures to the info@islandrecreation. Send the pics - still no call back. I keep calling them (again its forever on the phone) and I am told by one of the workers that Chris says he will give me new liner but warranty does not cover labor. I said no not true I have all the paperwork here (very organized) and the warranty very CLEARLY states covers Integra liner and labor to install. Chris tells me I must have an old warranty. This is not true cause if you look you will see they STILL advertise that same deal. So Chris finally agrees to have the installation for free I just have to pick up the liner in the store. Will take a week or so. Installation would be right after July 4th week cause they were so busy. Not a problem. Well of course I do not here from them and keep calling. I was told that the liner was not in stock. Really?? At the height of your busy season?? Ok still gave it time and more calls. I even spoke to a Kempt in customer service and he was to leave a note on Chris's desk. Chris takes off a lot of days!! Well I was done when still no call from Chris. So I contacted the Better Business Bureau on Monday 8/3. They sent notification to Island Recreation and all of a sudden an email arrives 8/5 saying they will do the installation on 8/7 and the installer WILL BRING THE LINER. We just had to have the pool emptied - about $500 worth of water, We have the largest inground pool) An email was to come on 8/6 to give the time. No email. But I was just happy to finally be getting this done. Installer shows up at 7:30 - great! NO HE DOESN'T HAVE THE LINER and states the installer NEVER BRINGS THE LINER. We tell him our story and he stated that he has NEVER heard of Island Recreation doing the installation for free - it would be prorated. He leaves cause he can't do anything. We have to wait till 10 to contact store. They tell us to send pics cause the installer says pool is in the ground and wall is caving in. So we do cause both are false claims - remember we paid we "WHITE GLOVE INSTALLATION" they did all of the installation. We do have rocks around the pool (very very little so we said we could easily remove them if an issue) but they said they COULDN'T DO THE INSTALLATION CAUSE its an inground pool and the wall was caving. I wanted the owners name and he/she to call me. His name is Tony. Tony has yet to call me. THIS SHADY OPERATION SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN. THEY DO NOT STAND BY THEIR PRODUCTS AND FALSELY ADVERTISE. I WILL BE contacting NEWSDAY and the many outlets they advertise in and continue working with the BBB. Oh yes when my husband went into the store the workers in there knew of all the problems - they weren't surprised at our story and that this happens to a lot of people. Run, run, run...THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! THEY ARE DOWN RIGHT ABUSIVE, HOW IS THIS STORE IN BUSINESS?? I don't even know where to begin. I have shopped there (franklin square store) for years, mainly because the pool stores in my area are limited, but after this weekend, I will NEVER shop in this store again! The teenage sales staff are rude, uniformed useless. The management is non-existent, I was lied to by a girl named Jess, who claimed she was a manager and apparently is not. After spending countless hours trying to buy a filter system, getting jerked around with their bull**t advertising gimmicks, I spent over $700. I hired a separate contractor to install my filter and pump. When the installer arrived, I was told they gave me the wrong pump. The installer said he couldn't wait for me to get the exchange, I would have to schedule him to come back another day during the week. This means me taking off a day from work. I went back to the store for the exchange. We asked them to give us an accommodation for the time, trouble and expense we had to incur. We were told to take a free pool float. Are you kidding me? This salesperson, Jess, moonlighting as a "manager", was in our face screaming. No managerial skills whatsoever, rude, uneducated. The "real" manager told her she didn't want to speak to us, and wouldn't come out if the loading dock. It got worse. Bottom line: you are told to call customer service for any resolution. By the way, they never answer the phone. Based on all these events, I will NEVER give this place another penny. You shouldn't either. All the items are made in China. Its crap. I guess this company never heard the saying "The customer is always right". If any of these employees worked for me they would be fired! How do I begin to tell you how much this company sucks. I bought salt conversation package for $750 they were supposed to give me store credit of 100, intall my pump and cell, and provide me with the free pool closing. Let's start with the credit from the electric company. The electric company send me a letter stating that the information was filled out incorrectly and that I would not be getting my hundred dollar credit. Now let's talk about the installation. They installer showed up at my house and never install the cell. I called back and made 3 appointments in which no one ever shows. I ended up hooking up my own cell. Now for this free pool closing. I called the company and try to make an appointment but they told me they never put it in my package and that I would have to go to the store and tell them to put it in my package then go back and make an appointment. I have made about 6 to 7 to the store just to do deal with this problems. Now let's talk about the problem with the product I bought. The salt sell that I bought wasn't meant for a 30,000 gallon pool and I only have a 10,000 gallon pool but the guy in the store told me that this was the right cell for my pool. He also told me that I needed to add 9 bags of salt into my pool when I only needed to add six and a half. I ended up having to drain my pool halfway and refilling it in order to dilute the salt. The salt cell and control box are made very poorly and my control box is beginning to rust. I hope that when you read this you take into consideration paying a little more 4 a much better service and product, I would not recommend this store to my worst enemy. I had an extremely frustrating experience with Island Recreational Pools, specifically with their installation department and the installation supervisor, Chris Fosolite. My issue stems from a simple phone call I made to inquire about the cancellation process, just to understand what is the procedure IF I decided to cancel my scheduled installation for the next day. At no point did I instruct or even imply that I wanted to cancel the installation. Despite this, Chris Fosolite took it upon himself to arrogantly and unprofessionally cancel my installation without my consent, simply because I had questions about the procedure. His dismissive attitude and lack of basic customer service skills were shocking. Instead of clarifying my concerns, he made an unnecessary and unilateral decision that disrupted my plans. This kind of behavior is unacceptable, especially from someone in a supervisory role. The lack of professionalism and respect for customers is astounding. I would not recommend Island Recreational Pools to anyone if this is how they handle simple inquiries. Save yourself the hassle and look elsewhere for a company that actually values its customers. read more

If there was a negative one star i would give it. Had a new salt water generator and new filter installed. Don't know where to begin with the problems. From day one new piping installed leaking. Internal Timer on new filter doesn't work proper. FYI I had a perfectly fine working filter which they took with them upon installation. I keep getting told that they will email me the fix to the timer issue. As of today it is now 1 year later NO FIX. So i have to go out everyday and start filter because cant set it on another timer. The installation guys glued the union to the salt water cell which leaks. So I cant remove or tighten to stop one of the leaks. Still losing water which requires me to purchase salt unnecessarily wasting all that money i was supposed to save. And now a year later after calling again and again They are trying to say its not their fault and they have no record of the about 35 calls i have made in the past year. NEVER AGAIN. I WAS A CUSTOMER FOR 11 YEARS AT ISLAND RECREATIONAL. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANYTHING THERE AGAIN. read more

Wish I would have read these reviews before buying a pool from Island Rec. We purchased a pool 3/2013 and what a disaster right from the beginning. Long story short their surveyor tells us to buy the wrong bricks, fails to tell us about a digging out fee being that we had an existing pool. When their installers come to install he tells us it's an additional $500, we call and are told that's the price. Their installer tells us it's not a great pool but will do, should have listened to him. The end of 2014 the pool is rusted and we're told we need to contact the manufacturer that IR isn't responsible. I contacted the manufacturer and they will send us a new pool wall we have to pay the $300 shipping, called IR about replacing the pool wall and I was told it wouldn't be until the end of July and I need a new liner and would have to pay take down and reinstall fee which all in all is about $900-1000. Now this what I call good customer service - NOT. To by business to a more repreable pool company with better customer service. read more

I have to say this honestly, I have never written a negative review on a company but this place is the worst. They lie about everything, do not show up for appointments and will leave you waiting all day only to not show up. I called each time and they said, crews are on the way, Three days they did this. I also paid for what they called the white glove service, no hidden charges. The surveyor came and said the ground was close enough to level and there would be no extra charge, LOL when the crew finally showed up on the fourth appointment day, three weeks later they demanded an extra $400 to level the ground or they would leave. Just wanting this mess over with, I paid them. The crew was totally disorganized and I needed to assist them with tools and labor. The pool came out crooked and horrible. Island Recreation sold me a cheap, low‑quality pool that didn't even survive one winter -- and then had the nerve to tell me to "just buy another pool." I followed every winterizing step, did everything by the book, and when the pool wall bent from normal seasonal conditions, they refused to honor the warranty. Their excuse? "Improper winterization." Completely false. Instead of helping, they pushed me to spend even more money on another one of their flimsy pools. No accountability, no customer service, no integrity. This company is all about taking your money and disappearing the moment something goes wrong. If you value your time, your money, and your sanity, avoid Island Recreation at all costs. Worst customer service and managers are extremely rude. Was at the store and instead of the manager giving me the correct information about her service department she was on her cell phone the whole time and was so rude. When I sent my daughter back, she was told that the service department was closed again. She lied that she told me that it was closed on Wednesdays and was again rude. When other manager came over instead of helping the customer he was even ruder and did nothing. One lies and the other swears by them. Called their supposed corporate department and the person lied about being corporate and got caught doing it!!!! This company should not be in business. read more

I can not even give this store a rating. The manager sucks and is extremely rude ti their patrons. The people at the register give incorrect information. Their advertising is so misleading I don't understand how they stay in business. Chemicals are weak and do not help my pool. had to start buying t Ace hardware to get a better quality of chemicals and made all the difference in the world. This company is a waste of your time and money. I purchased an above ground pool from their Medford store. Everything seemed perfect until I found out about all the additional charges I was not told about when buying the pool ( sand, leveling, handling of the sand, really?) I had to go twice to the warehouse bc the pool was. It there after I had already called to confirmed the pool was there twice ( the second time it was partially there and I had to get the rest from the store) Their customer service is polite but clueless! They did not care if you have to drive far, miss from work or be somewhere else. They just want your money and waste your time. read more

The worst experience ever. I spent thousands of dollars for a pool and got zero customer service. The pool itself is nice but if you run into an issue like a tear in the liner. Don't expect any assistance not even a free patch. They will shove from manager to manager with zero results. They just blame one another and claim thier hands are tied. I do not recommend this place at all unless your a pool guy that can do your own repairs . Island Wrecks workers read off of a script and don't realize what good customer service is. I love Island Rec. the staff is always extremely helpful. Having worked for the company l's Merrick location when I was in high school I was trained properly on the importance of pool chemistry, the differences between equipment, and all about pools and spas. Now that I get to come in as a customer I know how hard the staff works to educate and provide the best level of service and it makes me smile when I receive it each time I walk through the doors.
