I am only giving one star to this ice cream shop because they don't follow any of the guidelines dictated by the CDC: During COVID-19 we all need to make our best to avoid spreading the virus and establish social distance when possible. Many businesses are doing but it, but this one is not doing anything at all. First, none of the employees wore a mask and they were breathing over the ice cream when they were scooping. Second, there were way too many people in the store and many of them not wearing a mask, there was no social distance at all, everyone on the top of each other to see the flavors. It would be very easy to just allow a few people in the store at a time to get the ice cream. I really didn't feel comfortable at all, I wanted to leave but my kids really wanted ice cream. I would suggest stopping by the ice cream shop before you head off Anna Maria Island! It's in the perfect spot to grab dessert after dinner and take your cone to the beach to watch the sun set. The ice cream is from a local Amish company (Big Olaf) hand made and brought to the shop weekly. With all of the options you're guaranteed to have a favorite flavor - mines the Coconut Almond Joy. The staff is friendly and I couldn't have had a better experience. I've become a regular! read more

What. A. Sh*t show. Ok, so there's no mask order at Bradenton. Beach (there is in Holmes). That's fine, but how about a little common sense during these times. You're still a business with a responsibility to your community. Three teenage girls working there and none wearing masks and not a shield at the register. I blame poor ownership for both. The experience tonight (Thurs 7/16), young girl in blue shirt directing groups to "move down" so more people can fit inside the store was laughable. Besides the fact that I haven't heard a business directing people to squeeze in next to each other since about Feb, how about having a little awareness of the times. No masks doesn't have to mean no regard for any of your customers. PLUS... if everyone is on top of each other, how am I supposed to browse the flavors; I get one shot and then it's play the memory game? The ice cream was decent, nothing special. We saw that this was ranked number two on AMI, but the fam and I have it at four behind two scoops, small town creamery and holy cow. read more

Ice cream was great, but I was surprised that a food establishment does not encourage its employees to wear masks while serving customers. When I asked, I think it was one of the owners who replied that in their city jurisdiction, masks are recommended but not required. As a result of such complacency and lack of respect for customers, we will not be going back. Wasn't the best ice cream I've ever had and would definitely take the time to drive further down the road to the gelato place on AMI. I will say I was in close to closing and the young guy inside was very polite and answered my questions. Unfortunately the chocolate or coffee really didn't have a strong flavor like some of the other places I've been too. read more

This is our first time to Island Scoops, with our party of 6 making a visit while checking out Bridge Street. We had a mixed selection, the teen boys really liked the milkshakes! The teen girls and adults thought the ice cream and choices of waffle cones were great! Unfortunately this is the period of COVID-19, so the overall rating in this area gets an F. None of the staff had masks, and there was zero opportunity to social distance. There is a very large sidewalk in front of the store to create a staggered entry, which would seem more logical vs cramming everyone into the store at one time. Island Scoops was worth the drive and wait in line ! We came on a Tuesday night at 9:20ish and waited in line for about ten minutes- they were clearly slammed with not only orders from people in line but also a delivery system. Once we got inside, Haley and Lacey were SOOOOO friendly and working hard. What probably could have seemed very stressful, these girls handled It with grace! I got cookie dough and hurricane Charlie which probably was the best ice cream I've had in years. (Cookie dough was my absolute fave though) Can't wait to be back the next time I visit ! read more

Their motto is " biggest scoops on the island" and they certainly are living up to that. Scoop prices start at 2.95 for the very fulfilling "kiddie" single scoop all the way to 6.95 for the double scoop on the chocolate dipped waffle cone. They have over 12 flavors to choose from, starting with the old favorites and moving into fun flavors like snickers, trashcan, superman, and key lime pie. This store serves up a local brand of Big Olaf ice cream, made in Sarasota. Great location right on Gulf drive, my suggestion is to grab a cone with the family and walk across the street to the beach to catch the sunset. read more

When we visit AMI, we always come to this ice cream place! In fact, we walk right by the "other" joint and head in to Cream for huge scoops of ice cream and friendly service. The ice cream is delicious and there is something for everyone. I must give a special shout out to the Almond Joy, since that is what brings my mom back every time! Delicious! I got two kid-sized scoops - coconut and mint chocolate chip. My mom got one scoop - butter pecan. The kid scoops were plenty big. The place is cute and clean and the service was friendly. Can't ask for anything more. We've been debating whether it was expensive. I thought we got generous scoops, and both cones together were about $7. Not bad in my opinion. read more

We were a little disappointed at how many flavors they were out of and we went several times. Granted, they were super busy every time we went. Took 7 kids into this gem of a ice cream shop on our last night on the island. Customer service was friendly and quick and we got in there before a large group. The kids were encouraged to test flavors and the lady behind the counter was very kind and patient with all of them. The Ice cream was delicious and plenty of flavors to choose from. We called ahead and the lady on the phone was very friendly and helpful; however, the staff in the ice cream shop were rude, short and acted as if they couldn't care less. They passed looks between each other while laughing at my dad. The ice cream I ordered tasted good but was practically melted as it was served. The rest of the ice cream in the coolers looked half melted as well. Granted if they were really busy or were short staffed that would be understood but we were the only people in the shop and came in 35 mins before closing. I'm a little bit confused - after reading a variety of reviews, both on Yelp and Facebook, I gathered that Island Scoops sold Bowled Life açaí bowls. Since this was much closer to our place than the Bowled Life, we ventured down here for an after dinner snack. When I walked in, I didn't see anything about açaí bowls, so I asked the worker who replied with a confused "no?" to my question. With no additional explanation offered, we left. Still in search of a bowl, we trekked to the Bowled Life today (an easy 5 star). After recounting our Island Scoops experience when we saw the "try our bowls at Island Scoops" the worker at Bowled Life appeared confused as well. We thought maybe the truck stopped here, but were told that no, Island Scoops supposedly sells them in house. To say we were frustrated would be an understatement. I'm confused by the lack of communication and the misrepresentation of reviews. I hope this gets figured out quickly. read more
