The thing is when I want take out chinese food and my go to general tso chicken is not good then I really do not want to get this place again. The food was not good and there are plenty of other places with better food AND cheaper. The lo mein was drowned in so much sauce it had to be poured out to eat. It's been over 30 years since we became customers here, a place that rivals any Chinatown restaurant anywhere, and knowing it's in Marmora, N.J., was a godsend. * Unfortunately, the quality and quantity of the food served have been declining in recent years. I completely understand how the quantity could decrease due to rising prices, but there are no excuses for the quality to change. I ordered Orange Chicken just the other day, and if I hadn't been starving, I would have thrown it away. A total abomination of a dish that I like very much. What was supposed to feature bite-sized pieces of crispy chicken coated in an orange-flavored sauce turned out to be a platter of gigantic chicken pieces that required a knife and some pressure to cut. The chicken was not crispy and was soaked in a sauce that lacked flavor, let alone a hint of orange, hence the name Orange Chicken. Excellent Chinese. Got take out 7/9, vert efficient taking order and was ready on time. Shrimp, chicken and pork dishes were well prepared and portions were very good. We chose this option when our standards Fai's in Ocean View was too busy. We ordered the standards General Tsos, chicken and broccoli , spring rolls, hot and sour soup , and scallion pancakes. We opted for the white meat option for the generals chicken. It just seems right to me . The meal didn't disappoint . It is a drive for us to go there however they do deliver to sea isle which is over 15 miles. That's impressive but we opted to pick up. They charged a $5 delivery fee that's not listed on their menu or the website. They didn't mention the fee at any point, just added $5 to my bill. Felt dishonest. Food is decent. But might be good to ask if they are adding any unknown/random charges to your bill. read more

The food here, from what I've tasted, is very similar to pretty much any other Chinese takeout place just more expensive. The General Tso's dinner (usually a dinner comes with white rice but considerably more of the chicken) was a small white rice container and one of the small circular containers most other Chinese places give as a lunch special. There really wasn't much food to it and it was $15. Also, the chicken tasted old and the rice was undercooked and hard inside. You can get way more chicken at pretty much any other Chinese takeout for cheaper. At first, I thought they had made a mistake and given me the lunch sized order but at this point, and having come from Ocean City, I don't feel like arguing with someone who doesn't care anyway. So I'll just remember next time that their prices are out of control. read more

Awesome Chinese food! We ordered sesame chicken it's was fresh good meat with the perfect amount of breading. Only wish the pieces were a little smaller but that just personal preference. We also got veggie lo mein which was full of fresh crisp veggies. The steak fried rice was also fresh and delicious. The fish located in the front lobby are way to big for its designated tank. The water is murky, cold, no light. It was incredibly disheartening to see the large coy have barely enough room to turn around, and repeatedly bang into the tank. read more

When I am in the Marmora area if it is lunch time, Island Shore is always my go-to restaurant. Chef Allen, the owner/chef is extremely nice and is there to accommodate. The place has a lot of creative specials that you can't normally find at other Chinese restaurants. Their Chinese specials are inexpensive with good sized portions, on the list of lunch specials the chef gives you alot of " General Tso's", that are quite different such as salmon, tofu, eggplant,and fresh pork. The lunch specials come with soup, a spring roll and either fried rice, brown rice or white rice. A lot of places charge extra for brown rice, they don't. If you want a soda instead of soup, (mei wen ti) in Chinese = no problem, you want an egg roll instead of a spring roll mei wen ti . Like I said Chef Allen is here to please. Just a note, if you like General Tso's sauce, and if you don't care for it to much on the sweet side, let your server know, the chef will prepare it to your liking. Bathrooms are clean and there is a very nice aquarium (which could use a little bit of windex)! There is also an 18% gratuity automatically tacked on for 10 or more patrons. read more

Fresh, tasty Chinese food. This is one of the few Chinese places where I like eating inside. Usually I just get takeout from other places. They have very good service and there are always at least 2 other parties inside so you don't feel awkward for being the only table in the whole restaurant! They give you a decent amount of food, especially with the "combo" platters. It's nothing really to write home about but it's a safe bet. read more

I am very satisfied $7.95 for a meal I have been charged $18 for at a lower quality and lower quantity, it's Delicious and very good prices I only wish they were closer to my home in Long Branch! read more
