Came here on Monday evening an hour before closing- which is something my family and I make a point to NEVER do. But after a long day of shopping and driving, this islands is usually our go to for our first day of vacation and was the only thing we could agree on to eat. Despite coming in an hour before closing, we were treated with so much respect and kindness. No cold shoulders, no dirty looks or anybody making it seem like we were inconveniencing them, even though we were. Our server, Daniel was SO kind, attentive, and just over all amazing. One of the best servers we've ever had. He made it a point to let us know we were no trouble at all, and had an overall positive attitude that made us feel so welcome and comfortable. Our food came out very fast and was hot and delicious. Daniel made sure to refill our drinks, had no trouble getting some containers to go, and didn't rush us to pay by bringing the check early, he waited until we asked for it to bring it. We made it out just after closing, I believe closer to 9:10, and although our consciouses felt guilty, none of the staff made us feel this way. Establishment was clean, staff was doing side work, but that's normal for a restaurant almost closing. I was so pleased with this experience. We won't be going In an hour before closing again, but thank you to this islands and most of all, Daniel, for making us feel welcome. This place was awesome! We were seated immediately around lunch (1-2pm). I came with my son for a little date and they had crayons and a kids menu ready to go. He felt special being able to order his own food. The minute we ordered drinks, I got my drink literally SECONDS after the waitress walked away with our order! The food was soo good. I ordered the sliders, fries, and jr hamburger with fries. The burgers and fries tasted fresh and hot! Sliders were filling and very tasty! My son says it's his new favorite restaurant for burgers because they are "sooo good". I wish I took pics of the food, we just devoured it soo quickly! I enjoyed being able to watch the baseball game, and other sports as well. It didn't feel like too much and the atmosphere felt chill and happy. The staff was soo kind and patient. We had a waiter brought my son his burger and sundae (super good) and he was so friendly listening to my kid's random story about his upcoming birthday All in all, we are coming back for the food, experience, and location! Eileen was our waitress and she is the sweetest person we have met on our vacation. We came to islands because we had a good experience with the restaurant in San Diego. We love the ambiance and all of the fun surfing decorations. The restaurant was very clean and we got seated right away. Eileen got us our drinks very quickly and brought water as well. My boys got Mac and cheese and chicken tenders. They both enjoyed and ate all their food. I got the Yaki tacos and a side of chicken enchilada soup and my husband got the Hawaiian burger with fries. I was very happy with how the tacos tasted. My son even tried one too. The soup was amazing, I could have eaten a whole pot of that soup! My husband liked his burger so much it was gone in a minute We love islands and will definitely be back. read more

Decided to order take out from here, so we ordered online for pick up I had a gift card but the website wouldn't take it So I double checked it when we went inside. I ordered drinks with it. I thought there was still money on the card, so I asked the staff and she told me she threw it away because there was less than a dollar on it. I wish she would have asked at least if I wanted it back. Seemed rude to me. Also seemed like she didn't really want to help us out server was but food was pretty good. read more

I came here for the first time, it was a great vibe as we entered. Service was top tier and their interior design is unique. Host greeted us as soon as we stepped in and our server was quick to come introduce himself as well. We got their lunch combos and drinks which were all so good and we wished we found this place and tried it sooner. Island Restaurant came through when we needed it. After our big party got canceled at P.F. Chang's, they basically rescued us and made it happen without missing a beat. The food was fine, but it showed up and did its job. Great staff, friendly, attentive, and genuinely happy to help, which honestly carried the whole experience. So decided to try to this place for the first time on the way to the movies. Heard of it and seen it but never stopped till today. Walking in the place smelled amazing. It wasn't too busy but it sure did take a minute before we were seated. We got seated at an extremely dirty table. The table was rough and sticky. Then the menus were also dirty. My menu in particular had brown gunk caked all over it literally blocking menu items. I also could not locate the children's menu area anywhere. We ordered our food and waited. Food did take a minute before it finally got to our table. The food tasted very good but was sooo sloppy. The burgers were not centered and everything was hanging off of each other. I really enjoyed the crispy onions though. The bathrooms were decently clean though. Soap and paper towels were stocked as well. read more

The food here you can always count on. But when you go to sit in the bar and watch one of the soccer games in the quarterfinals, you expect to have a little bit more attention on that subject. The bartender didn't even put the game on till after it already started, the bartender had absolutely no interest at all, stood in the corner on his phone instead of standing and talking to people about what was going on. Absolutely horrible behavior. He's lucky he got a tip at all. If you're gonna work in a bar, you should know what you're doing and part of that is knowing what's going on in the world of sports at all times. Just my opinion, but it makes for a much better experience and a much bigger tip. And I did ask to speak to the manager she had as much enthusiasm as the bartender about the games. There were other people sitting in the bar asking why are we watching a basketball channel when the FIFA game is about to start? First time eating here and the food was actually pretty gross. I ordered the fish tacos which had no flavor at all except the taste of frying oil on the fish batter. My kids ordered from the kid's menu which was a burger with fries, and two orders of chicken tenders. Fries were awful, tasted like freezer burn. The tenders were basic tenders you get at any food cart. The burger was bad, didn't have any type of good flavor or seem like quality meat even though this is a "burger" place. This restaurant is off the 111 highway & desert crossing shopping center. This place has a special touch of a Hawaiian themed or a tropical paradise to it. Upon entering we were greeted by the sweet & kind hostess Bri. Bri sat us down to our table there were 7 of us. Our waiter was Hunter, Hunter was super down to earth, super caring, kind, very helpful & knowledgeable. We had some questions about the food there since it was our first time there. Their price points are all spot on! The restaurant itself is super clean, as well as the restrooms & its very organized & attention to detail! On the menu so much choices to choose from, whether it's burgers, salads, soup, tacos, fries, sandwiches, bowls, appetizers, desserts, all kinds of drinks! We ordered Cheddar cheese fries, 2 china coast salads, chips & guacamole, 3 island fish tacos, Hawaiian burger! All delicious & their serving was big ! We couldn't finish it all! We ordered the Lava Flow for each of us and a bowl of chips with salsa and guacamole. The Lava Flow is a great treat on a hot day. It is frozen and tastes of strawberry, coconut and pineapple. The chips and guacamole are fresh. Salsa is mild and has a chunky tomato flavor. Service was prompt and the appetizer came right out. I ordered the Kilauea burger with a wheat bun. It has small, mild jalapeños throughout the burger, and the burger isn't going to burn your mouth out or anything. I did not really taste the cheese but the burger had a lot of pepper in it. The burger falls apart everywhere and is very large. It has a massive amount of fried onions and has Chipotle mayonnaise on it. This was very filling. I recently visited Islands in Palm Desert, CA last night and was very disappointed by how the manager treated me and my service dog. My small, trained service dog assists me with a disability, and under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), she is allowed to stay with me in all public areas of the restaurant. However, the manager told me to put my dog on the floor and insisted it was a "state law," which is incorrect. There is no law (federal or state) that requires service dogs to stay on the floor instead of, for example, sitting beside -- as long as the dog's behavior is appropriate and sanitary. The interaction was rude and made me feel unwelcome and embarrassed in front of others that I had to leave the restaurant. I hope this restaurant will take the time to educate its staff on ADA service animal laws and disability etiquette so that other customers with service dogs are treated with respect in the future. read more

Very disappointing experience. My husband (African American) and my 16-year-old son (Mexican) came in for breakfast this morning and were treated disrespectfully by the waiter at the bar, who rolled his eyes at my husband. To make matters worse, my husband was given a dirty spoon, which my son witnessed. This felt discriminatory and was completely unacceptable. No one should be treated this way, and dirty utensils are a serious issue. Management needs to address both employee behavior and cleanliness. read more
