lately every time I go here to eat I feel sick to my stomach for hours sometimes till the follow day. I don't know what they are doing to their food but I will not be returning. this was not the case years ago but I see the decline in the food preparation. What a shame! Our go-to for Cuban food has had major changes in the past couple of months. Food is not the same, the "regular" servers that had been there for years are no longer there. We've had several bad experiences and have had to return our meals. I've asked if new ownership, but the waiters are reluctant to say for sure - suspect they have been told not to comment. We've given it a few chances but will now give it a break and see if anything is reported on the changes.Disappointed consumer here. read more

The only reason I can't give this review a 5 is because our server. She was sweet and all, but seemed to have a cold and wasn't wearing a mask. I caught her sneezing on her sleeve and cough in her hands a few times and not wash them. Then I saw our sandwiches ready under the heat lamp and it took her 5 minutes to notice. My go to is usually the chicken Florentine but it is Lent and I try to avoid meat on Fridays. I'm so glad I was forced to choose outside of the box. The shrimp risotto a la diabla was amazing. My go to at this location specifically is moros with platanitos and un pollo empanizado! A classic, but so good! Best part is I don't have to go to the main restaurant to grab some pastelitos or croquettas! The staff here is always nice, I have has a few occasions where the service was just okay but never have had a bad experience! The ladies working the counter are always great though and quick! The decor here is casual, yet elevated. A true Cuban meets casual/modern vibe and there is plenty of seating both inside and outside so the wait is never too bad! On a Sunday....... totally different story and it gets very full! In terms of bang for your buck you have found the sport! A full Cuban breakfast for around $10, you can't beat that! AH-MA-ZING. First of all, I had been to another Islas Canarias location, and this one is SO much better. Let's start with the decor. When you walk in, you feel like you are being transported somewhere magical. Not the current Cuba per say, as you will never find something like that on the island, but you are transported to a place filled with memories, aspirations, dreams, and even nostalgia. A place that represents the Cuban exile community and its soul. As I looked around, trying to to take it all in - from the cafe Bustelo to the porcelain silverware decoration on the wall - I couldn't help but imagine the Cuba of yesterday; a Cuba that I never got to see but that I constantly hear and read about, But that's another story! We were greeted right away and led to a booth, after passing through the bakery section at the entrance, which made us even hungrier. For a Thursday night, the place was quite packed. We went with family members that were visiting Miami and had never tried Cuban food, so we were happy when we saw that the menus were fully in English and Spanish. We wanted to try a bit of everything, so we ordered a bunch of sides + main entrees, as well as a vegetarian wrap for a vegan we had at the table. Cuban restaurants are not very vegetarian friendly, so it wasn't surprising when the wrap came and it was messed up - they didn't add the rice and beans to it. The croquetas were to die for, with the fish and ham ones being my favorite. The fried malanga was also impeccable, while the fried yucca could've been better. Everyone like their entrees -we ordered a milanesa de pollo, vaca frita, and a lobster ravioli. The portions were big, so we ended up taking home a couple of containers. We also ordered the house wine and beers, which brings me to my next point, please get a drinks menu! All in all, we spent around $115 for 4 people, with drinks and all. This place was so good, we went there back to back and both times were amazing. First go I had the rice and squid, it was just like mom use to make, authentic Cuban cuisine. My wife had the steak milanesa and she loved it, I had a taste and thought the same, delicious! Our servers were friendly enough and the vibes were joyful. The croquetas are creamy and crispy and quite literally delicious! I visited and had an order of ham croquetas with a pan con lechón and a batido de mamey. The pork in the sandwich was juicy, tasty and extremely flavorful. The bread was crispy but not hard and the mojo on the pork was great. The batido de mamey was thick and creamy not watered down at all and the taste of the fruit was powerful.
