Went here for dinner a couple nights ago. Awesome casual pizza spot with reasonable prices and good NY style pizza. Order and pick up at counter. Note that because it's by-the-slice, they make a bunch of cheese pizzas then add toppings to order and reheat the slice. The base pizza itself is quite excellent, extremely thin & crispy, but I found the toppings were a distraction. They were generous with the toppings which is a plus if you really need something on your pizza, but you can tell that they are just sitting on top instead of being baked in. This isn't necessarily a con, as it allows you to have more freedom/choices with toppings, I just didn't like how the flavors blended with this technique. They have a good selection of toppings, and I chose one slice of cheese and one slice of green veggies. The cheese slice was great, with a thin crust, tangy sauce and flavorful cheese. The veggie slice was a cheese slice with a lot of chopped veggies sprinkled loosely on top. The veggies were not baked into the slice so they tended to fall off unless you hold the slice horizontally. Still tasty but I preferred the cheese slice. Very friendly place with limited seating. The pizza is okay but the customer service is lacking. I went in recently and ordered a daily special (buy any two slices get a can of soda). I turned around and got a can of cheap root beer from the case. A youngish guy behind the counter who didn't take my order, with straight black hair that sticks up, said "are you going to pay for that?!" loudly with a huge attitude, drawing everyone's attention. I told him I had just bought the special. No apology or attempt to smooth things over. He just said "only from the right side". I look and the right side of the case is full of cans, except for the cans of cheap root beer which are inexplicably placed with all the premium/bottled drinks. So you cannot actually choose any cheap can of soda, all made by the same company. I'm guessing they noticed they sell slightly more cans of root beer and decided to nickel and dime. I can sum iSlice up in two words: first, it's pizza, and second, it's hot. Other than that, a store-brand pizza like Red Barron or DiGiorno will work just as well. Pretty good pizza. We went for a walk at point Isabelle and took my 8 year old and his friend. We wanted some pizza but I didn't want to take them inside anywhere. So we stopped at Islice. The boys both got a slice, chips and a soda. I got the meat combo slice and my husband got the Brooklyn and the New York. The cheese is local and the pizza is thin and crispy. They always undercook the pizza. By east coast standards, its a little below the level of a Papa Gino's chain. It seems like it was made by people who dont have any background with good pizza, or discovered it as adults or something. My best guess is that they are cooking at way too low of a heat, because the undercrust is dead white and flabby, hanging down when you pick it up. And cheese on top is so undercooked that its completely white, gummy and barely above room temperature. You should NOT be able to discern the outlines of the uncooked shreds! Cheese is supposed to be FULLY MELTED and have some variation in texture with golden brown spots. I honestly wonder if theyve got a chef who's lactose intolerant and doesnt understand what to aim for There are so many places that make outstanding pizza, its just too bad none seem to be located in the east bay. California, do better! ETA I just read the description up page and it looks like they started in Denver, which could explain the uncanny valley effect. Authentic east coast pizza is not about "herbs and spices" in the sauce - this isn't KFC. Not very good pizza. It's kind of expensive while also not being much food. It's crazy, but if you fold the whole thing up into a single slice, it would be about as much food as a single Philly cheese steak. I don't know if that's a good thing about cheese steaks, but it's definitely a bad thing about this pie. You can share it with up to 2 other people, but you'll all just be disappointed and have the roof of your mouths cut... so dry... so flavorless... it's just not good. Also, needed to be noted here is the total lack of sauce. I don't know how much sauce is needed to make something a pizza and not just cheese bread, but this is dangerously close to the edge. I actually saw way more grease than sauce, so maybe they got confused while making the pie and just ladled grease on the crust by mistake. TL;DR: Bad. This is a great NYC style pizza joint. Small, no nonsense, super quick, and CHEAP! We picked up two slices and split a soda, and we were out the door for $7 and some change. Tried this out through a DoorDash offer and was surprised at how good everything tasted! My family ordered a customized 18" (came w a free cannoli) and a veggie calzone.
