San Francisco has great places to eat pizza. There is a pizza parlor for each neighborhood. Having tried the majority of the pizza spots in San Francisco I decided to go to Berkeley. The city of Berkeley has brought good pizza recently to San Francisco like Rose Pizzeria. Going to Berkeley I have experienced great pizza places which are not located in SF. Berkeley has some great pizza places such as the Cheeseboard , Pizzeria da Laura and for the best Chicago style pizza at Zachary's Pizza ( actual fresher ingredients than most of Chicago )which both have no locations in SF. There a different pizza spot in Berkeley which serves fresh pizza with local ingredients and there is no spot in SF and it's called Sliver pizza. On a Summer day stroll in the sun in Berkeley I landed at the Telegraph Avenue. Inside there are plenty of seating and they do not accept cash. I ordered their POD also known as Pizza Of the Day. It had the Mushroom, red onions, green scallions , and it had a lemon zest which was sour like some in SF. It was a little cheesy and the sourdough crust was soft. It was tasty and you can taste the field to table ingredients in the pizza. They also have interesting pizza like the Cherry Corn Pizza like I saw on my social media feed. When in Berkeley you must try Sliver Pizzeria. Go to Berkeley for this is a "must" because they have a sourdough "crust" is a "plus" it's not too cheesy and very delicious and leaves some pizza places in SF in the "dust" This pizza place is to eat inside , pick up, and they do "deliver" I rate it more on gold standard side than "silver" fresh ingredients from the "Salinas River" at a pizza place in Berkeley on Telegraph called "Sliver" read more

Amazing pizza, great location, lots of interior space, slight sus bathroom... Food: Sliver is probably one of my favorite pizza shops in the bay, maybe in general. I went last week and they had a summer corn pizza that was loaded with juicy kernels of corn, fresh tomatoes and peppers, plus a ton of parsley for garnish. I am a corn fan so I knew I'd like this flavor. And I wasn't disappointed. Sauce: Sliver could even be more well known for its sauces. You have to try the green sauce! I used to come to sliver all the time in undergrad 5 years ago and it was amazing, but I recently moved back and the quality is terrible now. The pizza here is so greasy and has way too much cheese that it makes the pizza soggy. They used to have a nice crispy thin crust. Bring back the thin crust and stop adding so much cheese you can't taste the other flavors! We visit Sliver whenever we come to Berkeley and it never disappoints. The pizza is always hot and fresh and the flavors are great! Previously I wouldn't have liked that you only have one pizza flavor to choose from, but they've all been great and with the green sauce, even better! The service is always fast and friendly, though I will say we tend to pop in during odd hours of the day (like mid afternoon) so it's never crowded when we go. I've been going to Sliver for over 10 years and would have considered myself one of its biggest fans. My friends and I used to plan our days around coming here because it was one of our favorite places. Today was honestly heartbreaking. The quality has completely collapsed. The pizza was so limp it literally folded over under its own weight, and I couldn't even finish my slice. But the bigger issue is that Sliver has abandoned the concept that made it special. Instead of the creative, thoughtfully crafted pizzas that made people love this place, the menu has been filled with literal slop. Nobody I know comes here anymore because it isn't the same restaurant we fell in love with. It's sad to watch a Berkeley institution lose its identity. However, on a recent visit I see everything about this pizzeria has changed. They no longer have a single pizza of the day and every thing is made to order. All pizzas are vegetarian and I enjoy the pizzas being so unique. Who would of thought of putting corn on your pizzas and it being really good? Not me! Sooo good! I am going to be honest here, and I am not a fan. I don't usually like pizza, but my standards are high. The pizza is THIN and greasy, the flavor is completely overshadowed by the grease, you can't even taste the flavors of the pizza and toppings because of the sheer layer of GREASE on each slice. I used to enjoy Sliver in downtown Berkeley because their pizza had a decent crust (ex-pat NY'er here). Tonight we went to the Lafayette branch expecting the same. Their crust was doughy and undercooked. I've had better frozen pizza. They also have a menu of over a dozen varieties and promise yours will be ready in 8 minutes. Finally tried sliver and it was great! They only have one pizza flavor per day and the day I went was Yukon potatoes and corn and it was delightful. The corn was sweet but there wasn't a crazy amount which can over power the pizza and the potatoes were crispy even though it was on top of a pizza and under cheese. Also they had this cilantro pesto sauce which is so delectable to have with the pizza. My favorite part is the tiny sliver of pizza they put on top of every order it's so cute. I stopped by with a friend and tried the Barbecue Pizza easily one of the best slices I've had in Berkeley. I'm originally from Chicago, so my pizza standards are high, but this one surprised me in the best way. Huge shoutout to George, who's from Guatemala and absolutely hustles behind the counter.
