Warning: My "root canal treatment" here ended with a cracked tooth, extraction, and a $5,000+ implant. I rarely write reviews, but after what my wife went through, I feel obligated to share what was, for us, a nightmare experience so other patients can make informed decisions. My wife went to iSmiles Dentistry on November 15, 2025 because she was experiencing severe pain in one of her teeth. After examining the tooth, Dr. Dang told us the cavity had progressed past the gum line and recommended a root canal. The procedure was described in a way that made it seem like a fairly routine treatment, so we agreed to proceed. In hindsight, we strongly regret not getting a second opinion. What was presented as a straightforward procedure turned into three separate visits. Only on the third visit were we referred to an endodontist (a root canal specialist). When we saw the specialist on December 15, we were told the tooth had a significant crack that was not there before and was no longer restorable. At that appointment, we also learned that the tooth appeared to have a calcified root canal, which can make treatment much more complicated and is often handled by a specialist. This was not something we recall being discussed with Dr Dang before the procedure began, and we were not given the option of seeing an endodontist first. The end result is that my wife lost the tooth. She has gone through months of pain and now faces the long dental implant process, which we were told will cost more than $5000 with a different dentist. What made this situation even more frustrating was the response afterward. When we raised concerns with the office, responsibility was denied and we were told the risks were covered in the paperwork. We felt the manager attempted to place the blame on us. Based on the X-rays we reviewed from before and after the procedure, we still have serious questions about what happened. From our perspective, informed consent should involve a clear conversation about risks and alternatives between doctor and patient, not simply relying on forms. Because of these concerns, we are currently pursuing a claim through the dentist's liability insurance and filing a complaint with the Dental Board of California regarding the informed consent process. Patients deserve transparency when making decisions about major dental procedures. If you are considering treatment here, I strongly recommend asking detailed questions and seriously considering a second opinion--especially for complex cases. read more

I really thought this dental office would address my concerns when all I wanted to do was a regular cleaning . That procedure was never accomplished after scheduling 2 appointments back to back first time which I took sometime off work and I literally waited 2 hrs finally got frustrated and left Don't get me wrong dr Nina is very knowledgeable but tends to blab too much and over exaggerate things to intimidate to the point where I'm thinking the staff is trying to upscale procedures to collect from the insurance. You can't blame me for thinking that way since I could not get just a regular cleaning but they have time to give me a breakdown of all the costs with the dental procedures I would need to do. This office definitely needs to be more efficient when scheduling appointments and fulfilling the requirements of the patient so we don't end up wasting our time and money. read more

Everyone is attentive and professional, from the front desk team who make scheduling easy to the dental assistants checking in throughout treatment to see how I'm doing. Dr. Dang is personable, clear, patient and will gladly explain any concerns you have (she's the best, plain and simple). They offer you water and put CHAPSTICK on your lips during treatment so they don't get dry while your mouth is open, which is such a small detail but shows how much they care about their patients! like whaaaat!! Don't get me started on the office it is BEAUTIFUL, clean, organized, and has such a calming vibe-- I love this because I usually hate going to the dentist 10/10 Thank you guys for always taking such great care of your patients! My husband and I came in for a cleaning and I was amazed by their most up to date on equipment out of all the dental offices I've been to! We got to meet all the ladies that are on their website, they are all really gentle, friendly and comfortable for the environment that can be stressful, I definitely felt at ease and so did my husband that has had a bad past that's made him afraid to go to the dentist. With all the ladies I did have very thorough conversations and they answered all the random questions I had. I am really amazed by the scanning machine they have that can actually show you what's going on with very detailed photos of your teeth, that was probably my favorite part to see. We will be back and have made our appointments for our deep cleanings and future work that's needed, I will keep an update on when that's to come!
