We've been really impressed by this process. The construction crews are highly professional. They are thoughtful and careful with neighbors when dealing with moving equipment in and out, noise, and those kinds of things. They are great communicators and set really good expectations about project length and other details. When we asked for tweaks or changes midstream there was never any grousing or grumbling - they were very focused on making sure we were 100% happy. The guys are our crew were Colin, Max and Michael, and Patrick was the Construction Manager. In both cases, the finished projects were even more stunning than we expected. Top notch.

We enjoyed working with their team so much that after our backyard was completed, we signed on to do our front yard and driveway with them! After our initial meeting with Ozzie and Christine, Designer, they knew right from the get-go that our project will need to go through the 3-6 month permitting process with the City of Seattle. They also let us know early on that a structural engineer, geotech, and site surveyor were needed and they would be handling the coordination process. We felt confident in signing the contract after our meeting since they were detailed in explaining the entire process to us from design conception, permitting, to construction. Christine came to us with fantastic designs, while making our challenging backyard as usable as possible with the large retaining wall. She listened to our needs, made design adjustments to fit our lifestyle, and also stopped us from making decisions that would not benefit us (very important!). She quickly turned around updated drawings and renderings and gave us great suggestions on where to shop for materials to create our desired look and feel for our backyard. They didn't arrive when they said they would and I had to make multiple calls to reschedule. It was very difficult to get them to call back. Even when they finally did they didn't arrive on the day they said they would and rescheduled but didn't show again. They finally did show and about an hour into the job I went outside to find one of their workers urinating on the side of our fence. They did not sand properly (we paid the total for the job) and we've tried to get them to come back out to complete the job. Frank came out and said he'd schedule the repair but he never did and now no one returns our calls. They also said they sealed it but we have moss growing in the surface of our pavers. Avoid this company. You will end up being disappointed.

We are absolutely thrilled with our experience with Rainier Rockeries! Our project was a 2-tiered…read moreretaining wall, about 25ft long. Overview: I started by sending pictures and a description of the job I wanted done. Angel responded saying they could do the job and he could come by within the week to check out the area and provide a quote. Angel's quote was similar to the others I received, BUT he was bringing an excavator when others would have been working manually. That means he could get the work done quicker without cutting any corners! The Estimate: Angel gave me an estimate, we agreed he'd get the job, and we signed some paperwork to that effect. He told me they'd be able to start the first week of November, and that's exactly what happened! There was some delay because of weather, but Angel was excellent with communication and made sure I knew what was going on. He wouldn't want to start digging when it was wet and the base of the retaining wall wouldn't be stable. The Work: The team of 2 that did most of the work were great. We couldn't believe how much they got done the first day! Angel came by at least once every day of the project and made sure that the project was being built the way we had talked about. When something wasn't going to work, or there was a better way of doing something, Angel would stop progress and either explain why, or ask if I had a preference when there were options. The People: Angel is great. He is very personable and cares a lot about doing a great job. When he gives the estimate, he shows off recent jobs on his phone, and he beams with pride. He stopped progress once to ask me about an idea to build steps down the side of the retaining wall. We love it! We appreciate that he didn't just take the job and do it, but he thought creatively as the job progressed -- like an artist. His crew are professionals and did a fantastic job. The Money: Of course you want to know about the money. Every job will have its own considerations. If you try to get 5 companies for a quote, 2 won't respond, and 3 will show up to give you a quote. Rainier Rockeries will show and be competitive. Not only that, but Angel tried very hard to keep the price of the job at the estimate he gave me. He threw in some fill dirt, gave me a discount on extra blocks outside the scope of the job, and pulled out some tree stumps (which would have been way too hard without the excavator). He didn't change the price on me at all, even though it cut in to his profit on my job. He is happy to sign documentation when a payment is made.
