The grills are always fresh and cooked to perfection, the cheese cigars are my favorite appetizers along with the mixed appetizer which has hummus, tabouli salad, eggplant, salad, yogurt salad, Turkish salad, and baba ghanoush. I've been going to Istanbul with my friends for years. Not so much lately since my friends moved to other states. But I did manage to take my son and we both had the Chef's Chicken Special with vegetables in a yogurt sauce and served with rice. It was amazing. Also, from my previous experiences at Istanbul, their salads are absolutely the best. We even found out why but I'm not about to give away their secret. Throw some chicken on that Mediterranean salad, some feta and you had a great dinner at noon. Or go for the Shepherd salad if you're like me and love cucumbers. Then they tease you with that beautiful bread and the white and hot red sauces. My friends took me there for my birthday and it was a day to remember. Not my age but the food! They don't serve alcohol, but we were allowed to bring our own wine. Only two desserts are offered but both are delicious. One is baklava and the other is the Kunefe. I prefer the Kunefe. And the servers are fabulous. Lately I stopped to get a salad to take home but coming spring, I plan on visiting again. read more

Stopped in for lunch today. Not too many tables, which was surprising as their Sunday special seems to be popular. We ordered a vegan meal which consisted of grape leaves, tabouli, and falafel dinner. The tabouli was fresh and flavorful. The grape leaves were good, had a deep flavor. My fiancé prefers his grape leaves warm and with meat, but they were good. The falafel platter was delicious...the hummus was smooth and creamy. Topped it with some of the tabouli and used the bread to devour it! The bread was served with a creamy taziki sauce and a spicy marinara type sauce. Service was good and fast. We would have loved some more bread with our hummus, but we didn't really see our server after receiving our food until we were just about done. We just did pickup from the restaurant. We were looking for something different than the standard fare. First the restaurant had a very good crowd at 6:15 PM. The food came out hot from the kitchen. The falafel and the Baba Ganesh were fantastic. We ordered three entrees, the lamb kabob with yogurt and tomato butter sauce the chef's chicken special and the Dokar gyro kabob. A very generous portion of fresh bread was provided. Very large portions of everything. Everything was delicious and wonderful. Definitely we will be back. read more

We came here on a Saturday afternoon around 2pm to celebrate our Turkish friend's graduation. The place was quite busy despite the off time, but they quickly were able to accommodate seven of us without problem. The restaurant is located in a strip plaza but the inside is large, clean and inviting, with beautiful pictures from Turkey lining the walls. We ordered Lamb Adana kebabs, Iskander plates, an Istanbul salad, the zucchini cakes, and two children's' chicken plates. They served us fresh bread with red pepper and cucumber yogurt to dip. The food came out in a matter of minutes and the staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and have great recommendations. Everything was delicious. The salad was enormous, with crunchy red grapes, walnuts, corn, and feta cheese with a pomegranate vinaigrette. The meat was tender and good sized portions. The zucchini cakes were phenomenal. Our table shared three orders of the custard dessert and Turkish tea. This was a bit farther than we would normally drive to go get dinner but we would 100% come back here. The food was authentic as anything we had while in Istanbul. I highly recommend checking this place out if you love Mediterranean food. read more

Love Istanbul Mediterranean Grill. I highly recommend Adana kebab which has a nice kick on spice and Tavuk shish (chicken) entrees. They are delicious; I do wish that Adana kebab could come with a side of pita bread instead of rice to substitute. Meals all come with some fresh greenery or cabbage as well. You can finish your meal with Künefe which is a must! As always love the Turkish tea served after the meals. read more

Omg...Istanbul Mediterranean Grill is amazing! Their authentic Turkish cuisine made by a chef/owner that takes great pride in cooking fresh, made from scratch dishes! The restaurant is located in a small shopping center across from the Walmart in Avon...just off I-90. The inside is cozy and dimly lit with lots of cool photos on the walls showing the sites of Turkey. A good date night spot for sure! The staff there is very polite and welcoming. Service has always been great and they always keeping your water glass full, which is important in my book! The food is so fresh and flavorful...everything is made from scratch! Soft, chewy bread, juicy flame grilled chicken, steak, lamb, and shrimp, fresh veggies and sauces and creamy hummus are just some of the many menu offerings. You have to try their "Turkish Pizza", which is only served in Sundays! They do serve Halal meat in case you have that dietary restriction. Their portion sizes are pretty big, so you'll leave with a full belly. Their desserts are mouth wateringly good and not overly sweet! The Kunefe is really good! I have to try the baklava next time. Oh and the Turkish coffee is fantastic! Amazing restaurant. Went for the first time today and shared the mixed grill, liver, sigara boregi, red lentil soup, chicken vegetable soup, and kunafa. Everything was delicious, service was superb, and the restaurant was quiet and clean. Authentic and delicious! No exaggeration, this is the best Turkish food I've had in the United States. I ordered my favorite dishes -- Adana kebab, and kunefe w/ Turkish coffee for dessert -- and it was just perfect flavor and freshly cooked. Very quick service as well, for anyone coming for lunch. But I'm sure they would let you linger if you wanted to. The interior is nice and clean, and quite big. I love the photos of Istanbul as well. read more

Believe the Hype I've been going here for about a year or so and I've NEVER been disappointed with what, based upon a large percentage of their regular clientele, is very authentic Mediterranean/Turkish cuisine. The food is simply fabulous, with many entrees that were new to me, and the service is impeccable. There's no fancy restaurant ambiance; however, it IS a cafe after all! No, you won't get the same prices as you get at Alladin's, but... The seating area is not huge and on our last visit on Saturday around 6 PM it was fairly crowded, but they always have a full staff, and our order was quickly taken and served without appreciable delay. I had the lamb chops, and they were about the best I've ever had, certainly better than a lot of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern places where, despite what you tell them, the lamb is always cooked well done. My son is a vegetarian and they have plenty of options that satisfy. Their location on Nagle Road is in a small strip mall close to Cabela's and not far from Meijer and Costco. If you haven't tried it, it's really worth a visit. read more

I came to Istanbul Grill with high expectations because of the near perfect ratings on Yelp. I love turkish food, and really enjoy trying new restaurants so it has been on my list of places to try for a while now. I tried the Iskender with yogurt entree and my dining companion had Chef's special chicken. We were not at all impressed with the chicken dish. It was very rich and creamy but it lacked flavor. I did enjoy iskender, and thought that the gyro meat was flavorful and of better quality than most gyro meat. The meat was plentiful and both dishes were of decent portions. We also enjoyed the fresh baked bread that was served to us before the entrees came out. I would like to come back and try another dish, but I probably won't because of the high prices. Most meat dishes were in the $15-$20 range which is a bit much especially at lunch. They do have a lunch menu but it is not offered on weekends, so our lunch was around $40 for two of us and we didn't have drinks or appetizers. Downtown, maybe, but Avon? It just is placed in an odd location for such prices. The service was quick and friendly. Parking was not as issue as this place is in a strip shopping center with plenty of space. read more
