We spent the day on Lincoln road. Wow how much it has changed. There was a pretty dj at the entrance that drew us in. It's a cute place with a gelato station at the front then a display with pastries and desserts that looked amazing, like the cannoli. In the middle was a bar with a giant tv screen, sitting area, and then the area where they were cooking fresh pizza and pasta. The decor was filled with frames of photos that gave it a family feel with lots of fun. Our server was friendly. We ordered the diavalo pizza (spicy pepperoni) and lasagna. The pizza was delicious love the thin crust and the tomato sauce and cheese tasted fresh. It was really good and cheesy. The lasagna was good and not heavy. After eating it I didn't feel bad. :) it was somehow light in texture and good. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and I have no complaints about the service. Unfortunately, the Bolognese pasta I ordered made me extremely sick. My husband had a pizza and was completely fine, but a few hours after my meal I started feeling nauseous and developed severe stomach issues. That night, I ended up in the emergency room and had to receive IV medications. Even after being discharged from the hospital the next morning, the following days of our vacation were ruined because I was still recovering. The financial cost is one thing, but having a vacation you've planned and paid for ruined by a single plate of pasta is incredibly disappointing. The pasta itself was cooked al dente, but I believe the problem was with the sauce. I didn't even enjoy the flavor while I was eating it. I asked for Parmesan to make it taste better, but honestly, I wish I had stopped eating it altogether. I'm sharing this experience in the hope that more attention will be paid to food freshness and kitchen hygiene. But 1) the food is laughably expensive 2) it's not very good 3) they add a service charge for takeout The "pizza" was like this fluffy dough - they pour some olive oil on it to try and make it look like I'm walking around Florence. We went in a sat down at IT Italian Trattoria to look at the menu for a possible lunch stop... nice outdoor seating area, we thought we'd enjoy! The inside of the place is kind of dark, not a real open airy feel like outside. The staff were not very friendly when we approached to look at and ask question about the food selections. No toilet paper in the bathroom, and apparently none in the place because the staff were discussing someone leaving to go get more toilet paper. Rather underwhelming.... The price is a little high as common in the area but the taste is worth it (despite some other places). TLDR: the food is a hit or miss, but the cashier was rude and didn't send the order to the kitchen, so two whole families got their foods and left before we realized something was wrong... Bolognese pasta - this dish was good. The pasta was the right amount of Al dente, and the sauce was rich and creamy. Carbonara pasta - this dish was bad. The pasta was definitely undercooked, and it was way too salty. It was very hard to eat. Bad service - I don't even know if you can call it service bc this place is self-service like a cafeteria lol. You place your order w/ a cashier, get a buzzer, and you pick up the food once it buzzes. But our cashier was rude, added a 20% service fee to our receipt, even though we're technically not receiving service; and then proceeded to NOT send our order to the kitchen. It was only when we realized that two whole families have sat down behind us, got their foods, and left - that we realized something was wrong with our order. The workers there didn't even listen to us at first, claiming that we just needed to wait longer. It was only when they checked their system that they realized our order wasn't even in the system in the first place that they finally got us our food and a dessert as an apology. I stopped hear during art Basel and it wasn't too crowded when I walked in; however, I waited in line to order for 20 minutes. That was a rough start. The guy taking my order wasn't pleasant. Besides him, everything else is great. The rest of the staff were working hard cooking and cleaning up the tables. I like this place because it's affordable and cozy. The pizza here is superb. We visited Italian Trattoria as one of our stops for the Bike Tour. Outdoor, shaded seating is available as well as indoor seating with a bar. Either option is comfortable but outside is better for people watching and group conversations. The pizza here is definitely the star of the show! The crust is baked through, making it a delicious experience for the tastebuds. We were given a mimosa to celebrate our visit and newfound friendships along with water to hydrate.
