Our 2nd time eating here. Delicious! Had to start with the burrata, so fresh and comes with focaccia. We got the Star Carlos this time around. It's their star shaped pizza filled with ricotta cheese and had mozzarella, chorizo ​, arugula, avocado, and a jalapeno sauce. Lots of great flavors and love the stuff crust. We ordered delivery so I wasn't expecting the pizza to taste the best by the time it arrived, but I really enjoyed the special Star pizzas. Felicia was by far one of the best servers I've ever had in my entire life. So to you find the location is a bit of a challenge, sort of nestled in where you wouldn't expect a pizza shop. Number of seating is limited but it was 2 PM on a Wednesday, so we were seated immediately. Felicia gave us plenty of time to review the menu, I asked my 52 gluten-free menu questions - I also read the review where the owner states very clearly. It may not be safe for someone with celiac. I decided to take my chances, and I'm glad that I did by far the best gluten-free crust I've had in my entire life I ordered the Claudio pizza and I could not be happier. I have no idea what kind of heaven they put on that crust but it was definitely heaven. For $24 you get a pizza the size of New York City! Unfortunately I was not able to eat even half of it, but boy did I try. Felicia seemed just as excited as I was that I enjoyed the pizza. She truly enjoyed what she does and it shines every single moment. She made sure that our water was filled and we enjoyed the experience. We went for early for lunch, it was nice because there were a few parties there and us. Our server was nice and attentive, food was out fast. This time food wasn't as good as I remember. When I tried to change the order for pickup the restaurant doesn't have an actual person to speak -- only an automated service that directs you to a website. The Coffee Paolo pizza is an extravaganza of flavors, spicy, sweet, and aromatic. One of the best pizzas I have ever had. The spicy olive oil on the side added a little heat to the party of flavors. The waiter was so kind and gave us great recommendations. He suggested we try their coffee pizza and it was surprisingly good!! The pricing was very reasonable, about $12-15 a pizza. Ok, so the location sorta stinks, let's get that out of the way. In all of South Beach's beautiful sunshine and beachfront, this is tucked away INSIDE the building past the front desk with seating area about the size of a walk-in closet and zero natural lighting. With that behind us, the pizza is still 100% Mr. 01 quality, which is to say EXCELLENT. We tried the Matteo, Meat lovers and Daniele and the Matteo has to be my all time favorite at this moment. We found the Daniele a bit too dry, bland and uninspiring though, esp with so many other exciting options available here. (had the Elisa last time and it was amazing!) The crust is super thing and crunchy, the topping are all high quality and its simply the best pizza in Miami in my opinion. We also tried the Sabrina salad this time with some of their house Cesar dressing on the side (as recommended by my brother who mentioned it'll be swimming in dressing otherwise). The size was very generous, everything was fresh and we loved the dressing. Still a local favorite of mine when craving pizza. NOTE: try eating it fresh in the restaurant rather than delivery. The crunch simply isnt the same when its had time to travel and cool a bit (like all gourmet pizzas). read more

This location is inside the main floor of an office building. It is tiny, with only four or so tables, and it is absolutely perfect. The man running the space was incredible. He was so attentive, kind, and had a real sense of ownership, as he was greeting locals, checking in on everyone, etc. The food was perfect. I loved that you could build your own salad. We got lettuce with tomatoes and avocado, and the owner brought over fresh olive oil and vinegar to dress it with. It was so simple, fresh, and quality. We couldn't stop eating it and decided we wanted to start making that exact salad at home more often, since we don't live in Miami. We ordered the famous star luca pizza that we'd seen many photos of on social media. The folded over star bits are stuffed with ricotta. While it is a lot of cheese for one person (I'd maybe share), you have to try it at least once. I personally ordered a gluten-free Bahama pizza, which had mozzarella, pineapple, and mushrooms on top. Those are the random toppings that I usually request at a pizza shop in shame, so imagine my surprise when that was an actual established pizza type on the menu. It was fate. I ate every bite of the salad and the 13" pizza myself. I was so full and so happy. It was calm inside and they played the best music. When I was visiting south beach, my friend told me to check this place out. In my head I was a little taken aback. PIZZA IN MIAMI? I THOUGHT IT WAS A JOKE... but I trust my friend's judgment in food and gave it a try. And let me tell you this place BLEW MY MIND. I didn't expect this type of flavor. Best pizza I've ever had! Very high quality, and you shouldn't listen to the people who say "Oh, the thin crust is disgusting!" It was better. The service was good as well, and it didn't take that long for our food to arrive. The ambiance was a bit hectic, but that makes sense for such a great place. The last thing I want to say is that we ordered 3 pizzas, and the best by far was the Claudio. Don't listen to the people who say it tastes bad. It may taste like soupy cheese, but in a good way. Ok first thing's first - this spot was SO hard to find. I wish online or on their site they explained that it was inside the building and not visible from the street. They had somebody sitting outside to tell people were to go, but only after I walked by a few times looking confused. They could have a sign or even have the person wearing a t-shirt with the restaurant name. Very strange! Anyhoo, if you can't find it, it's on the ground floor, inside the building - you have to keep walking towards the back and you'll see it. Given that it's inside, there is no natural light which isn't great and it's a very small space. Not good for groups - the tables were super close together and was only seating for I'd say less than 20. The greta salad was great and HUGE - we were surprised. It could honestly be a meal on its own! We got the olives on the side because my friend didn't want any, and when we split it up to take the leftovers home, they were super attentive and asked which person didn't like the olives to put them in the other to-go box! We got the Star Carlos pizza which was interesting - I liked it, but not sure I'd get it again. It was good, but I don't love greens on a pizza, but definitely glad we tried one of the stars. The crust was so good. The Claudio was delicious - just enough truffle flavor. we absolutely loved. Would definitely get this again. The service was good. The pizza here is phenominal! I love the staff and service here is excellent. You will sometimes be stuck waiting in line to get a table but people do because its worth it. Favorites are margharita, star pizza with ricotta, the burrata, all is good. Their crust is think and light and fluffy at the edges while its not overpowered with too much cheese. This is a tough one. To evaluate Mr. 01 relative to a standard pizza? Or relative to the hype? It's definitely above average compared to just another pie. Compared to the hype though - not sure it lives up to it. I would probably give it 4.5, but I usually round up. The pizza is good. Not as stellar as people say but definitely good. This is especially true of the star pizza, which I frankly found a little overrated and not as good as the excellent margherita. Paired with the spicy olive oil, this margherita was delicious. We came in on a Tuesday evening and were seated with no problem. Be prepared to wait if you come during busy hours. Unfortunately we just missed happy hour. Wine is half off from I think 3 or 4 to 6 on weekdays. Prices are otherwise standard. Given the crazy inflation these days $40 with tip is about the going rate for dinner for two and that's roughly what we paid. read more
