F45 is a franchised gym that offers a fast-paced fun group workout roughly alternating days…read morefocusing on upper body, cardio, lower body, and full body/abs/cardio. The workouts focus on "functional" fitness and are 45 minutes long (except for one hour-long session a week), hence the F45 name. The workout for the day is the same program whether you're exercising in Australia where the program began or here in little Rhody. (Very cool today to take a 9am session here while my daughter took the same one in LA.) Pre-registration is required as there is a limit of 28 participants in any class - at least in this club. The goal to to move fast, sweat, and develop some camaraderie with your fellow participants and partner for the day - high fives are pretty much mandated. Two staff members work at every session. They explain and QUICKLY demo each move and describe the circuit. You and your "partner" - assuming an even numbers of people in the class, you are paired with someone who moves through your circuit with you - start at an assigned station and receive direction and timing from a video screen demo'ing your move as you do it. The staff regularly visit everyone in the room giving support and encouragement and some comments to assist with your form, weight selection, and (in my case) an explanation of the occasionally confusing progression through the circuit. The sales material says the program works for all fitness levels but if you are not used to regular strength training, this probably isn't for you: it's fast and many of the exercises are complex (upper and lower body combined even on leg- or arm-only day, with cardio because of the limited rest periods so it's always a HIIT program), the weights start at 10 pounds, and many of the safety tips aren't consistently given (knees above ankles for a lunge, roll your shoulders back and don't collapse into it...), and it is WICKED FUN!!! The staff are friendly, the club is clean, the equipment is great (y-bells, Thor's hammers, multi-handled sand bags, in addition to the expected kettlebells, dumb bells, etc). Pricing is higher than a "gym," more like a Pilates or yoga studio. Again, I loved it - but this won't be the place for everyone.

I've been part of this amazing community since 2018, and it's been life-changing. The workouts are grueling (in the best way), pushing you just as hard as you need to grow. ‍ The trainers strike the perfect balance--supportive without being in your face, but always laser-focused on your safety and form. Not only have I transformed fitness-wise, but the relationships I've built here have been just as rewarding. I never thought I'd join a CrossFit "cult," but here I am--and I couldn't be happier about it! I have even competed in the CrossFit Open..... That was pretty exhilarating!!! If you're looking for a gym that challenges you, supports you, and connects you to an amazing community, look no further than OSCF.

A wide variety of classes; CrossFit, Olympic Lift, Yoga, Mobility & Core, and Bootcamps. The trainers are incredibly knowledgeable and the community is wildly enthusiastic as they support your goals and achievements. Retuning to the gym after being waylaid was terrifying as my fitness level had atrophied & I worried the programing would be too intense, but all workouts are scaled to your level, trainers are always willing to help with form and suggest modifications. They also have a sauna, cold plunge, and nutritional guidance available as well as private training sessions available.

This location is no exception, although the facilities and equipment have definitely seen better days. The staff seem to be trying their best to inject some life into the location. There is still a lot to appreciate here: a jacuzzi, dry sauna, women's steam room, pool, basketball court, and racquetball courts. Their current condition, however, is a different story. The group exercise classes are solid, with options for nearly every fitness level and type of workout. Most of the Group X classes at this location use MOSSA programming. They are challenging enough to provide a good workout, but still approachable and beginner-friendly. At the same time, a facility offering this range of amenities is probably costly to operate and maintain. This location, in particular, is overdue for meaningful investment and modernization. The membership has increasingly shifted toward an older demographic, perhaps because of the emphasis on wellness and recovery. Families appear to come mainly for the pool, while younger members gravitate toward the basketball court. The racquetball courts have seen better days and have now been converted into multifunctional spaces, which is a bit sad. Evening group classes that once drew large crowds now rarely exceed five participants, with one or two exceptions. The morning classes are killing it, in contrast. The range of fitness equipment is comprehensive. There is a machine for almost every type of functional training or exercise, but much of it is very dated. It is almost a chicken-and-egg question. Would renovating and investing in the facility attract a new group of members who could help sustain the business, or does the gym first need to attract those members to afford the renovation? That seems to be where this location stands at the moment. For me, things are still good enough that I continue to go, but they could certainly be better.

I was relieved and very happy to see how easy it was to modify the workouts for beginners. They even have a 10:30am class specifically for beginners so instructors can take extra time working on good form. Lastly, their instructors are knowledgeable but also really care. I can't recommend Manic more highly. They offer a free week trial so If you want to get back in shape and feeling strong, I recommend you give it a try. I'm happy I did!

The format and exercises rotate and are never the same, sometimes not repeating for months. Although you could take the class every day, 3 times per week is more than sufficient and this is coming from someone who used to go to the gym daily. It's a great class, and John (the owner) or other trainers can help modify exercises based on your difficulty level. Many of these exercises you can do while traveling too! Manic training provides an efficient, challenging and variable workout to help you gain strength, tone and improve your core strength. John is more than available by phone, email or social media and willing to provide other insight into diet. Free trial week available and a variety of packages. Great place to go, worth the money and value it will provide you!

It happened to be a bring a friend day. So I turned around and stopped in. I was met by 3 awesome staff members, Kelly, Nikki and Dave. They all made me feel very comfortable and welcomed. I purchased 3 introductory classes and immediately fell in love with this place. I saw people from all ages and exercise levels. I signed up for a membership. Within one month I was doing exercises that I had never done before. Most of them I thought I couldn't do. But the trained staff showed me, patiently, how to do it and let me do it at my level. In one month I have been able to run, which I couldn't do, and my blood sugar dropped 100 points. The bonus is that I lost 14 lbs as well. It doesn't matter what your fitness level is. This will work for everyone. You must check this place out.!!!! BK Pawtucket RI

The class starts late, you warm up stretch, and before you know it what is suppose to be a 45 minute class is 15-20 minutes. If you count the rests in between you're lucky if you get a good 15 minute workout in. Now I perfectly understand that this is a special; however the point of specials is to get people so fired up for your gym that you'll sign up whatever the costs. Nope not the case here and I for one was very very disappointed. This is my third time doing CROSSFIT and this one for sure was my worst experience. Gave them two stars because the actual members looked like they were having a good workout. In the mean time the last time I went, I was like you can keep the money. Thanks for not investing in your newcomers, and basically robbing me of almost $200.00. Recommendation? Don't sign up for their specials!
