I would have given this restaurant four stars but the music was too loud and a complete disconnect from the dining experience. Playing thumping dance and pop music, and keeping it on just as loud, when we asked them to play something more appropriate. I'm an artist and producer, and I love everything from Ariana Grande, to Vampire Weekend, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, etc, and it's great that they want it to be young and energetic, but 85% of the tables had patrons over 40, with the exception of one table with two teens and later, a young couple. A complete mismatch and annoying experience where we were right under the speaker trying to have a conversation with friends we haven't seen in a while. When we asked the manager to turn it down, he turned it down from 10 to 9.5, and never changed the style of music. Turning up the music at Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister is proven to keep the energy and young vibe, but me and my friends don't want that when we are eating pasta and Arancini! As an Elite member of Yelp, I eat out 3x a week in restaurants all over the state, and in NY, and this kind of shows me the management doesn't know how to take the temperature in the room. And with that, the restaurant was also freezing cold. Now, for the food! We started with Eggplant Parmigiana and Arancini appetizers. Eggplant was good, overall, but texturally, a miss. Some of it was not cooked through, which with eggplant, can be a turnoff. The edges and the middle were the same texturally, and had no caramelization or char or crispiness and was simply one note the entire way through. The saving grace was the sauce which was light, sweet, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. The Arancini were very small and had a pronounced saffron flavor, but it was a bit overpowering, and as Arancini goes, I'd say these are a distant smaller cousin. Normally, there is rice and peas and ground meat, and mozzarella, so I wouldn't call these "Arancini," but maybe "Arancetti" All in all, not what we expected, but still a nice bite, with a flavorful lemon aioli to add a brightness to the savory dish. The Branzino dish was a star. Delicious, fresh and well presented on a bed of Faro with carrots, asparagus and saffron. Super. My baby mussels was delicious, but the pasta portion was very disappointing and small for the price. I left the restaurant hungry. The Caccio & Peppe was also a hit, with a deep cheesy umami flavor, but again, too small a portion. The ribbon pasta with butternut squash was perfect, savory, and it felt heartier and more generous than the clam dish, which at the least should have been served with crispy charred Italian bread to soak up the butter sauce. For dessert, we all nibbled on chocolate flourless lava cake, which was absolutely delicious. Overall, Bianco Rosso was saved by a couple dishes, and the overall food quality and presentation which was good. We found the service to lack character. Not a lot of personality from the waitstaff. Not particularly friendly and simply--all business. Nice ambiance, but the music and the cold temperature had us eating with our jackets on. An area of opportunity here is to rethink the vibe and music. Like really sit down and have a conversation about how to express and connect the entirety of the dining experience with a through-line from the lighting, temperature, and music. People are there to share food and a good time together. Like a good movie, you should always hear the words and only feel the music, not hear it during the actors dialogue. This needs to be the same. And finally, understand your crowd. Look at the people sitting there, it's not your show to play the kind of music you like, but to play something that sits in the back seat, quiet and simply fills the air with a suggestion, or hint. Maybe it's instrumental, or Jazz, or Frank Sinatra, Blossom Dearie, or music with very little singing and thumping. It all adds up, and it's just time to finely tune it all. read more

Go here for the focaccia and olive oil which was to die for. Walked into and it was loud bc there was a big party but very alive and busy for a Sunday. My uncle had the chicken Marsala which looked good but he said it was too salty. I probably would have loved it that dish bc I felt like mine needed salt. Hub had chicken parm which was average. I had the fettuccine in pink sauce with cantalini beans and lobster and it was ok bc it tasted a bit fishy. I was contemplating getting the bronzino and should have got that instead.My aunt had shrimp over capellini but it was swimming in the sauce. The artichoke salad was very good and my aunt enjoyed the pear salad. Overall it was pretty good and the portions were pretty big. I'd go back and get the salads and try the chicken Marsala or bronzino next time. read more

Stopped for lunch today at Bianco Rosso with my family who live in Connecticut. Weren't exactly sure what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised. There were 5 of us including two older adults, two middle age adults and one 11 year old. We were immediately impressed with the ambiance and vibe of the restaurant. Sleek design, good layout, very nice. Immediately greeted by a server and an assistant to take drink orders, and identify their excellent lunch menu which you can choose a starter and entree for $25. Highlights included the Ceasar Salad and shaved Brussels Sprouts, as well as the Pear Salad and Branzino. Ironically, the two Pasta options, especially the CacioPepe were the only disappointing choices. All in all, a very pleasant experience, with a handful of standout dishes worth checking out. We really missed Bianco Rosso Trumbull, so started coming here occasionally since it's 45 minutes away from our new home. Website was pretty, offers many pescatarian/vegetarian options and seemed 'upscale' compared to other spots in area; I Figured I would check it out and bring my family from Seymour the following night if it was fabulous. Food was good! I especially liked the KALE Salad's vinaigrette dressing. HOWEVER, what made my stomach super upset is the 'between sheets' drink which I was really hopeful was going to be delicious. I felt sick rest of the night into the next day which was horrible as I had to get back on plane with uneasy stomach and lethargic. Ingredients were titos, bitters...mint, etc. Nothing unusual for my alcohol savvy palette. While I cant pin point what made me ill, I just cant take another chance. Wont be back. read more

This review is for the new location in Trumbull Connecticut a new location of the restaurant. AMBIANCE is new and quite nice. They removed the O Bar booths for more tables (a smart move) but could have redone the restrooms so they look more updated. SERVICE is quite good albeit a young crew. They are super nice and would benefit by engaging more- trick is for young people to find something in common with an older clientele. FOOD here is where they lost a star for me. When I go to a new Italian place I typically order an index dish. For me linguine in white clam sauce. But the appetizer first. Ordered the Bianco meatballs which came on a bed of polenta. Dish was excellent but Luke warm which took away from the full flavor. My ENTREE was a bit disappointing in the fact that it was also served like warm. The clams were not the good Long Island ones and the preparation was too oily. The pasta on the other hand was perfect. Also ordered a side of asparagus which was grilled to perfection but again served like warm. Made me think or order (wife ordered a wire pizza) was not timed right and while waiting for pizza other dishes cooked down. Just a hunch WINE. This was a good spot. Tried the House Cabernet (again the first time test) and it was decent. Not too thin, dry, and a bit of currant flavor. Only a little alcohol after taste. There are no words adequate enough to describe the ricotta gnocchi at this restaurant. It is simply the best. Add in an appetizer of their sautéed spinach with a sprinkle of freshly grated Parmesan and you won't have a better meal anywhere. That's all without even mentioning the service that every member of their team gives. Miguel's and Khalin's attention is 100% about how to make sure you have the best experience possible. And the owner, Jaime, isn't simply greeting people. He makes sure you feel like you're the only person in the place. The entire experience is awesome. Wilton is Alive! Finally a restaurant that carries enough vibe and energy to wake up the town, really great addition to the Wilton Center. This place is right on River road, though parking and the main entrance is in the rear. On first impression, the place looks grand, and you will immediately notice how well the interior is done. There is a larger table arrangement on one side of the restaurant, and then a full bar on the rear right, with enough seating around it. I ordered one of their Pizza's as a start and thoroughly enjoyed it. I got talking to the owner, who is a cool guy and seemed to have quiet a bit of experience running restaurants. He shared that his wife had actually done the interior of the restaurant, and you can't help but marvel how well it is done. The prices are reasonable for this kind of a neighborhood. I run past the restaurant every weekend and am noticing it is getting busier and busier which is a good sign. Now if only more singles start showing up in Wilton ;-) read more

Meals were pretty good, prices reasonable but the noise level was deafening due to terrible acoustics and continuous pounding dance music that had no place there as most diners were sophisticated in their 60-70's. There are a number of great restaurants in Wilton Center, and I would classify this as one of them. They haven't been around long, but have fit right in with the other good Italian options nearby. I have been here for lunch a number of times, as well as a few times for dinner. For lunch, they have the $15 for two course special. You get a list of options for an appetizer, and one for an entree. The eggplant Parmesan is EXCELLENT. It is made with prosciutto and extra virgin olive oil. Highly recommended. For the entree, I have had the meatball sandwich, pasta selections and chicken. All have been excellent. Desert and drinks are not included, but the sorbet and coffees are very good as well. You cannot beat the $15 Price Fixe lunch special at Bianco. I would have thought for $15 the portions would be small, or at least lunch sized. But they rivaled dinner sized servings of food. I started with the mixed green salad, which had a tasty cistrus/white balsamic vinaigrette. It was sweet and was not over dressed (pet peeve of mine). My meal was the fusili with olive oil, garlic, and cauliflower. It arrived, and also had peas and yellow squash - bonus for me, I love vegetables! My colleagues had the eggplant parmesan, which was huge, could have at least been enough for two. It was garnished with prosciutto to bring out some salty flavor. One had the frittata, which was backed in a pie dish, and had a salad on top of it, and she reported it as good. The other had the shrimp, which she also reported was very flavorful, and a good portion. Downside is the business lunch took 1.5 hours since there were, from what I could see, only two people working in the front house of the restaurant. They should work to recognize that some of us do have to get back to work, and might not have 20 minutes to wait for our credit card to be picked up. Food is worth it, though, as long as it's okay if you miss your next meeting. read more

My husband and I went for happy hour at the bar. The doors at the bar are wide open to the parking lot. While it has a great feel, there were flies ALL over the place. I ordered a drink and we ordered some appetizers. We watched the flies all over the bottles at the bar, a take out order had about 8 flies on it. The woman came in and I'm surprised she even took her takeout since she had a disgusted look seeing them all on there. While the decor and menu seemed lovely, my husband asked if I felt comfortable eating in there after watching all the flies on the bar glasses and silverware. Selection on wine by the glass is noteworthy, EVERYTHING eaten was tastefully well prepared, and the menu options were quite diverse. Super creative dressings for salads, cheese board meets above average mark, and the bar scene is on the rise. The mixed drinks were flowing steady throughout the establishment and as ruckus as that might sound it just wasn't. The interior space is large enough to feel almost grand and if sitting away from the bar I'm sure a romantic and private dining experience can be had. In the past three months, I have eaten here 5 times. The most recent was for lunch yesterday with my family, and I felt compelled to write a review and recommend. Each time I have eaten there, I have experienced impeccable service. The menu offer great variety and I have enjoyed the fish dishes, pasta, and chicken dishes. For lunch yesterday, my daughter had a cheese pizza. It's thin crust, one of 3-4 pizza options on the menu. Artisan cheeses and delicious sauces with a firm crust made this pizza delicious. So much that my wife and I helped her eat it in addition to our own meals. I had the brussels sprout salad which was over arancini. Awesome. My wife had a caprese salad with fresh and delicious cheese. She had a chicken dish which I don't recall, because she cleaned the plate before I could get a bite. I had the breaded cod fish special served over red and orange pepper along with olives. Outstanding. Both lunches were part of their daily prix fixe specials. This review is for the Trumbull location - why doesn't it have it's own spot to review under Trumbull? Anyway we had a very mixed experience at lunch the other day. We got the prix fixe - my husband started with the calamari - it was delicious, crispy, and the tangy sauce complimented it well. I had the mozzarella appetizer which had lovely tomatoes but was otherwise pretty bland. My main course was the fish special - branzino. It was one of the best dishes I have had out in quite a while. It was served with broccoli rabe and baby artichokes and was just delicious. My husband got the eggplant parm. It was good but it needed some variety on the plate. He would have been far happier with a smaller portion of the parm and maybe some pasta on the side. It was good but boring. When I made the reservation I told them it was my husband's birthday and reiterated it to the waitress. My husband ordered the chocolate mousse cake dessert but asked for no raspberries. When the cake came out with a candle, it had Happy Anniversary written on a piece of chocolate and the whole thing was sitting on a pool of raspberry sauce. Honestly they had one job to do and couldn't get it right - hence the 3 stars. All that said I would go back just to eat that fish again - delicious! read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Wilton. Sometimes a little inconsistent, but overall a really good spot. Only ever been for dinner. Love their Cesar salad, probably one of the better ones I've had in the area. As far as entrees, I've gotten the gnocchi, pizzas, carbonara among other things. My favorite is probably the gnocchi, although you really can't go wrong with anything on their menu. Always pretty crowded, especially on the weekends (obviously). Handled a party of ten easily, despite some food allergy concerns. Food and overall service was terrific. All courses arrived well timed. One minor hiccup with an appetizer was quickly rectified. Ten plates at a time isn't an easy thing, they did the entire service well from appetizers through desert. Nice atmosphere, being busy on a Tuesday night is nice to see. Seating is very limited for a "large" group, so half of the party should expect to be seated along the "bench wall". Overall well done, great food and above expected service.
