My girlfriend and I were in DC for the weekend for a family event. This restaurant was a three minute walk from our hotel, so we decided to dine there. The food was great! We both ordered a 10" pizza. The thin crust is a perfect mix of crispy and the outside and chewy in the inside. The cheese was amazing. The sauce was a great accent. My girlfriend also had veggies on hers. The staff was very friendly and the place was very hospitable. Our second night in DC, my girlfriend wanted to eat at the Thai place next door, while I wanted to try another selection from the pizza kitchen menu. We called both places and asked if it would be okay for the two of us to share one of their patio tables even though one of us was ordering from the restaurant next door. The Thai place said no. The pizza place said since we asked first it was okay, but we'd have to sit at one of the tables in the corner. I am very grateful to the staff at the Italian Pizza Kitchen for being so accommodating and hospitable. I had the Mac and Cheese, which was good, and the bread sticks, which were very good. I highly recommend this place for both the food and the friendly staff. read more

Stopped in for a slice of pizza and a drink. I had a second slice it was so good. Then I left my prized iPhone charger in the restaurant. I called back and they had found it and agreed to mail it to me cross country. No charge. Can't thank the manager enough for going out of their way and for such a kind gesture. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE. Female worker who takes orders needs to be fired immediately. This was my first time at this establishment and she continued to make smart comments because SHE didn't ask me did I wanna carry out or sit down. My girlfriend and I got this place on Uber eats on a whim and it turned out to be a decision that we would heavily regret. My girlfriend ordered the Manicotti Quattro Formaggi and it literally taste like vomit. We try not to be harsh, but this is the only way that we really can describe the taste of the cheese in this dish. I got the fettuccine Alfredo, which was OK, but very bland. Live in the neighborhood-- Took a few years to figure out what's the best thing to order. Large Italian pepperoni pizza-- not typical nor classic but good amount of cheese and a great crispy crunch with the pepperoni. Prima Stromboli---for those who know how great ricotta cheese can be, this is the place---When vegetables tastes as good or better than the meatball, you know they r good! Lastly the chicken wings, not your classic buffalo wings, But tastes like rotisserie wings! This was my first time going here and I love the pizza, I ordered the Italian Stromboli. The cheese was so stringy, the bread was soft and flavor was so good. But the only thing is that there wasn't enough toppings. Also I got a 14 inch, and the medium was bigger than I thought. I would highly recommend going here. read more

So grateful that this place is close to me. I've tried each of the half dozen Italian places in this neighborhood and while IPK isn't the best fit when you need something upscale, I think it serves the actual best food. And not even accounting for price. Friendly and thoughtful service, usually relaxed enough that you can read or work on a laptop, and they'll do many dishes without cheese for the vegan/lactose-intolerant among us (get the eggplant pizza w/ no cheese if in doubt). I haven't been inspired to post a review in months, but I feel like I owe it to this place. read more

If you are on Connecticut Avenue and looking for a great place to go, this is it! The food was great. Kids had the spaghetti and meatballs, and it was delicious (yes, I had to steal a bite or two). My wife had the spinach salad, where it was clear everything was freshly prepared. I had the Italian Pizza, and it was amazing. Aside from the great food, the service was great. We waited for over 10 minutes for someone to provide us with a menu. When the minutes of our lunch break passed away we went in to grab a menu and order ourselves. Waited for almost 30 minutes and still no order. We told the waiter to cancel our order as we have waited for a total of 41 minutes for service and nothing was provided. Party of six traveling from out of town, we stopped in for dinner because it had good reviews and was between the District and our AirBnB in Chevy Chase. We sat on the patio, great atmosphere and loved how there's no smoking out there! Our server was amazing -- only two weeks on the job and very attentive and new the menu, was able to make great suggestions. Everyone got something different, from wings to salad entrees to spaghetti and meatballs -- and everyone loved the food! Only issue we had was at end of our dinner, a mouse was scurrying around near the planters out front. That doesn't mean there are mice inside, but they definitely should address that issue. read more

Horrible customer service very rude to black people, when me and my family went to pick up food they said we were rude and that it's a 5 star restaurant and we don't deserve to be there. AMAZING FOOD and place I love pizza . my husband and I went there to eat when we where in the area. I've had so many different pizza from small shops which I prefer more than franchises. The pizza was one of the BEST I've ever had . The owner was very friendly and our waitress was super nice . I wish they where closer to Virginia We will definitely be back . If you're in this area, there isn't many pizza places I'd recommend. But this place is fantastic for a quick slice. I ordered 2 slices of pepperoni and a drink. Love the ingredients they use here. Four and half star. Tasty and not-diet friendly italian dish. 1. I got calzone and it was HUGE. Buttery soft crust was filled with tasty tomato sauce and ricotta/mozzarella cheese. Two big guys can be happy with this. 2. Almond cake: only $4.50 and you get a block of lovely custard filled cake with almond topping. Very worth it. 3. They play an italian movie using projector on the wall. Pretty cool. PS: Most dishes here come Big portion. You stop by for dinner and you know you will have leftover for lunch next day. read more

This was the first time ordering from IPK (got carry out) and I can say without hesitation that this was the worst margharita pizza I have ever eaten! There was no sauce, bland cooked tomato slices and absolutely no flavor! We also ordered a calzone and fettuccini alfredo... both of those were also flavorless. I will end up throwing away all 3 meals :/ The one positive is the cannoli... not the best I have ever had, but good enough. Will not be going back here. read more

I had my parents up from NC and had a full itinerary for the weekend including places to eat. We didn't have plans for lunch their first day here so we decided to get a quick pizza to hold us over until dinner a few hours later. Turns out their pizza was some of the best if not the best we all had ever had. Fresh dough, fresh ingredients, cooked perfectly and we had to best time talking with our server Georgia. Thank god Van Ness has a restaurant - any restaurant - down this strangely empty stretch of Connecticut - that alone makes me appreciate this place. And while the food is good enough to fill you up without complaint, it's not quite good enough to keep me coming back. The decor is a little blah and tacky, so I think of it as a take-out only option. You might disagree, especially in warmer months when the seating is open out front, but I wouldn't bring a date here. You need some delivery, though? They've got you covered. This is especially key considering they're uphill of the Metro. My girlfriend goes for the calzones, but they're incredibly parmesan-y ... way too dang parmesan-y for me. She still gets 'em and likes 'em, for what that's worth, but I can't stomach the things. I've had the pepperoni pizza and margherita pizza. The bottom line: it's pizza. If you've got a hankering, they'll satisfy it, but you won't be running home to tell your friends about it. All this complaining, yet still good enough for three stars. I think when I go out paying a premium for my food, I have high expectations. And why not? If you want a memorable pizza experience, try district of pi, 2amys, oro pomodoro, even comet pizza down the street. read more

Steer away from the pizzas and "chicken parm" sandwich (dry and somehow flavorless)!! They used to be a quality place, but have slipped some in recent years. Its a great little place. Perfect for a comfortable evening out, with family / friends. No effort and comfy. I went to celebrate my birthday there, cos there were a number of kids with us. The wait time was about 45 mins, but then there were 11 of us, in a rather tiny place. Food and drink: each pizza has a distinctive flavour - I like the veggie ones there. We had the Paradiso - 3 stars, the eggplant - 4 stars and the cheese - 3 stars. we got a bottle of wine for the grownups - brownie points to them, they have a cute winestopper and wine bottle bead decoration thing :) for dessert, I would recommend the tiramisu cake - not for the ones who are tiramisu fanatics, but a well rounded tiramisu and cake. Dont get the chocolate cake - it was rather dry. The molten chocolate pie was delicious - just wish it was bigger! read more

I think this is my new local pizza joint. I've had Potomac Pizza, Pete's Pizza, Pizza Boli, Papa John's, Manny and Olga's, etc. and I think Italian Pizza Kitchen has tastier pizza. Of course, 2Amy's is still my fave, but for delivery, I'd definitely go for Italian Pizza Kitchen. I'd probably skip on the lasagna though. I also want to highlight the staff. I think they are very nice on the phone. I did an online order and called to confirm that they received my pizza after reading another review that said they never received their order, and they confirmed that they had received it. I received my order within 45 minutes, as promised. I also called in an order once and they were really nice on the phone too. I'll definitely be back!! read more

We've ordered from Italian Pizza Kitchen several items and tried different menu items, from appetizers to pizzas, and they've all been consistently great. The dough tastes fresh and homemade, as do the toppings. The dough is also noticeably less salty than your typical pizza place, which makes all the difference in taste! My favorite is the Roasted Eggplant pizza -- it's Mediterranean perfection. The Margarita is another solid choice, and the garlic bread and bread sticks are so soft and delicious. I look forward to exploring more of their menu and returning for my favorite pizza soon! read more

Today we ordered a pizza, an eggplant parmigiana panini, and a meatball panini for delivery. The delivery was fast and friendly. But . . . The pizza was not pleasing, however that could be a matter of preference as we prefer NY style pizza and this was a heavier, gloppier, self styled pie. But the two panini sandwiches were very poor. The eggplant parmigiana sandwich had roasted eggplant but no sauce or cheese whatsoever. Even worse was the meatball panini. It appears that they took a single meatball, crushed it into a chili consistency and poured too little sauce on it. The bread was thick and not pleasing. We threw away both sandwiches. Mixed feelings about IPK. I've eaten at the restaurant and ordered delivery several times. Never had problems with delivery. When eating in the restaurant, I've had one instance where a friend ordered a calzone, and it was still cold/the cheese wasn't melted in the middle and another instance in which the staff started yelling at each other. Prices are a little high, but consistent with DC and the area. My favorite is one of their Starters, the Italian Kitchen Spread. You get a decent amount, and my favorite thing to do is save it and eat it with Wheat Thins as a snack. Pizza is fine, nothing special though. read more
