The Pizza is good better than almost anywhere else in DC. Customer service is Not. They are just not friendly , they will not go out of their way at all. So do not expect kindness or a pleasant experience. Just get your pizza and go. No frills. I do wish they looked happier and acted nicer but idk. Nobody in there is happy. But the pizza is decent. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Its a good thing they don't have tables and its just a grab and go because 5 star customer service is not their fortay.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's about a 1-2 star in service. All this to say just called ahead and order over the phone for least interaction.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Vace is a very no frills Italian take out restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They are located a block from the zoo, so I stopped in for a piece of pizza to eat before visiting the zoo. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are no tables or chairs inside or outside, so prepare to take your food on the go.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I order 2 slices of pepperoni pizza for $2.50 each. If you are paying with a card, they have a $5 minimum order. My pizza slices took about 3 minutes and they just wrapped them in aluminum foil.

Highly recommend. The sauce is the best part IMO. The pizza was crispy and not floppy. There is a good amount of cheese but not too much. Overall just quality pizza. I give it an 8.3 out of 10.

If you're seeking great pizza in DC that is in the New York vein, look no further than Vace. My partner insisted that we get a pie from here when he was sick, and because pizza is medicine, I agreed, and I'm glad I did because this is without a doubt the best NY-ish pizza I've had in DC. As a born and bred Brooklynite, I would note that the crust is a tad thicker than the thin crust style that defines NY pizza, but Vace does such a great crust that it's still a winner. A LOT of sauce, almost in the Philadelphia tomato pie style, and I initially even wondered where the cheese was. But the cheese was definitely there, and was excellent, and the sauce was very good too. I have to give Vace a hand on the pizza toppings too - they have TWO olive options, one of which is kalamata! Much love for that from this Greek girl. Lastly, I can't hide how bowled over I was by the price - the entire large pizza, with tax, was under $22. That definitely beats New York right now because a good PLAIN pie from a pizzeria there will probably run you closer to $25 these days, at least. I live close to Vace, so will definitely be back for more great pizza (and apparently their other offerings are worth trying too).

Amazingly, I'd never reviewed this place despite its location near the Cleveland Park Metro and its longstanding status. As a deli, it includes a large amount of meat that I don't want anything to do with. Some of the small selection of sauces and noodles looked worthwhile for those actually living in the neighborhood. I suspect the fresh food will be the main attraction for most. They sell pizza by the slice at rates that haven't gone up a ton in the several years since I left the area. Notably, they offer a mushroom slice. The mushrooms appear canned, but they go alright on a slice. Mine was heated for perhaps a bit too long, but it was delicious. This is a place that works within a modest scope, but they do it well.

For 46 years, this Italian market and deli has been making waves in Cleveland Park (and Washington, D.C.). Here's why you should visit: 1) Food: There's a deli in the back that sells Italian subs for under $10 and slices of pizza for $2.50. In an expensive city, it's hard to find a less expensive meal. I ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza. It's thin crusted, but good! 2) Market: They sell all kinds of Italian products from hard-to-get sodas to wines to homemade pasta to all kinds of frozen lasagnas. Cured meats and soccer balls hang from the ceiling. 3) Service: Candidly, it's not friendly and at time abrasive, but it's part of the experience. If you love Italy, wander to Cleveland Park's Vace.

This restaurant…read morewas recommended to me by a colleague so I decided to make the walk from where I am currently staying. Let me start by saying that the atmosphere in this restaurant is one that is so welcoming the minute you arrive. I approached the hostess stand to inquire if there was bar seating available to which the polite hostesses provided a gentle hand gesture and oral direction to the bar. While walking to the bar area, I encountered what I presume to have been a server who was likely standing watch from a distance over his service area, who apologized as our paths met. (There was no reason to apologize, very polite nonetheless) I found a seat at the bar and was greeted by Paul. Paul was an exceptionally pleasant and answered all my immediate questions while preparing my initial cocktail during happy hour. We discussed the menu and he provided great insight which helped finalize my decision for the evening . In the meantime, bar manager Laura stopped by to ensure that I was taken care of to which I informed her that Paul and I spoke and he is making a beverage for me. For the food...the Caesar Salad is #1. I am a food snob and this salad HITS!! While enjoying my salad I inquired about their cast bourbon selection. The staff was very knowledgeable and provided a price list to coincide with their higher end selections. My 40 layer lasagna arrived some time in the midst of the conversation where Paul extended a courtesy sampling of a wine that he recommended that pairs nicely with my meal. It was perfect. I closed out my meal with an espresso type martini, at which time Paul and Laura further extended and offered me a sampling of one of the bourbons I was looking at. I cannot say enough about this establishment. I can't wait to go back and have already recommended via phone conversations to three people and I just left. The evening and encounter was more than just pleasantries with a customer, rather I felt as if I was the only one. If the owner or manager is reading this, Paul and Laura are 10+ and I will be back. Thank you so much for the best meal I have had in DC over the last 2 weeks. Can't wait to do it again!!!

Found it to be a bit louder than I would've liked but I think it was because of the spacing between tables. Came toward the end of the night and got seated and welcomed right away. I ordered the polpette, meatballs to start. They were quite tasty, but the sauce was a bit watery. Think that's just because the meatballs themselves were pretty juicy. Heard the focaccia was a hit, so asked for some of that. I was told they didn't have any left. Which was weird, because then another server came and asked if I wanted bread. I'm glad I said yes because the focaccia is very fresh and was a great addition to the meal. For my main, I ordered the vodka pasta, which was very flavorful and very saucy. I love a good, thick vodka sauce and that's what you'll get here. The one part of the pasta I didn't really enjoy was the chicken inside the pasta. I think I would've preferred a grilled chicken option instead of the chicken that comes in the pasta. That being said, this place is a gem. The prices are great and the portions are hearty. The pasta is thick, you're really coming here for fresh noodles and ingredients. If you want to top your meal off just right, you'll get the chocolate lava cake. Very delicious! Service was good and staff was very attentive!
