Best place in Alameda for a consistent men's haircut (can only speak for myself). Easygoing vibe.

WORST HAIRCUT EVER is such a cliche and yet, here we are. Like Tony P's experience I was seen by Giuseppe and had a very nice experience until I got home and my wife said that I need to "FIX THAT RIGHT AWAY". She further added that it looked like I had done it myself (which i'd been doing during the Pandemic) "but worse". So I gave it a couple of days to see if the hair would settle down and accept the new cut but it's still horrible AND you cannot get around the fact that there is a LARGE tuft of hair (on the top left) that is just too long. Overall it's ragged, uneven and no way in HELL should I have walked out of there with a head looking like that. Not for $50 (and why did I tip him?!) !! Tony p (1 star review) had his horrible haircut in January 2023, mine was in August 2023 which means Giuseppe has had SIX MONTHS to get his skills together and /or for the owner ZACK to check over Giuseppe's work, and yet... SAVE YOURSELF the disappointment- don't go here, "It'll Do" is not what I want for $50 . read more

What a great place on every level. I had a beard trim by Giuseppe and he is a consummate professional in every way. Asked all the right questions, made me feel welcome, did exactly what was asked for. I can't recommend this place enough. Nice place. I liked the small and clean shop. I've been going to the same hair cutter for 20 years but because of family emergencies have been back and forth to Hawaii and could not get an appt with her so my hair was the longest it's been in decades. Driving me crazy. Booked an appt with Giuseppe and was looking forward to my haircut. Giuseppe had some good reviews so I felt okay. He was friendly, offered me some great beer and got to cutting. I didn't pay attention because I just let him do his job. After the cut I looked in the mirror and something was off but I wasn't sure what it was. Got home and washed my hair to get all the loose hair out and brushed my hair and damn, he must have had a bad day. There was a clump on the right side that was longer than the rest and it looked like I had just cut my own hair. I am sorry to say that it was the 2nd worst haircut I have ever had. Sent my wife a photo and all she could say was "it will grow back". Sorry guys, I won't be back. read more

I have been trying to find a new permanent barber shop for awhile but I think my search is finally over.This place is a gem for sure. Clean and quick service. There are not a lot of high quality barbershops at reasonable prices in the Bay Area. The owner was knowledgeable and friendly, and the interior is vintage while not being overly hipster like some other places. I will definitely be returning. read more

Great experience here, I liked the look of Zach's shop based on the pictures so I decided to give him a try. I have had a tough time finding a good barber, mostly due to a combo of my hair type and my own lack of knowledge regarding what is best for my hair. I gave Zach some basic instructions based on what I have found success with and he delivered a great cut. I will definitely be going back for my regular cuts, price is right, parking is easy, and I appreciate Zach's laid back style. Will have to sample the available beverages next time. Zach does great work. All-scissor cut, steam towel, straight-razor shave, etc. It is pretty much what you would expect from the look of it, in a good way. Very laid back, comfortable place -- good beer on tap, good music in the background, well chosen decor. This is a fairly new place so it's still possible to get a walk-in appointment. read more

Best hair cut experience I've had in a long time. Zach cut my hair exactly how I asked! Even while we chatted Alameda breweries and kayaking routes, he was always focused and never rushed.
