All barbers are experts in their trade. This is my boyfriend's second visit to OAKBarber Studios. However this review experience is with owner and master stylist, Justin. My boyfriend, Bill, called in 30 mins before for a same-day appointment and luckily landed Justin. He hooked up Bill with a close face shave, and a high fade haircut. Justin suggested a side part and showed some sample portfolio photos. Bill agreed and the outcome was impeccable. Haircut: At Bill's mature age, he is at a time where he is less floof, and more grumps. But Justin was able to find the perfect balanced look for him with the high fade and side part. Interior: aesthetic man cave vibes, light R&B tunes playing, beautiful Oakland attributed graffiti wall art, and comfortable waiting area Exterior: quiet neighborhood, ample parking, clear barber signage, and community grocers next door. Overall, Bill and I give this location a 5-star rating and will be back during New Years for a new look from any of the OAKBarbers! read more

Vibes were dope. I had a Saturday afternoon with Al and he made magic happen. I chopped off almost a foot of hair. He transformed me into my next best version of me. The pictures don't do it justice, but he collaborated with me along the way making sure that I was impressed every step of the way. As someone learning about personal care, he was knowledgeable to educate me on products to style my hair. I would definitely say these guys are solid barbers. I've gone from long hair to buzzcut to long hair multiple times over the past few years. But I recently got a buzzcut, and my 21st birthday was coming up. I never worried about how my hair looked when it was short, but for my 21st birthday I wanted to look the best I could. I booked a men's haircut with Al at Oakbarber Studios, and he was by far, not just the best short haircut I've ever gotten, but the best haircut point-blank. He took the time and quickly was able to understand my hair, my curl pattern, the way it wanted to flow, etc. I got a taper from him after he explained the difference between fades and tapers, and I couldn't have been more happy with my haircut. On top of that, Al was just great conversation and a very friendly and welcoming kind of guy. I'd highly recommend booking with Al any day of the week, I'm probably growing my hair out again, but for this short time of short hair, Al got me right! read more

But I found Justin and Oakbarber Studios through Yelp and decided to take a chance. First thing I have to highlight is the simplicity and ease of use with scheduling and paying for services. The app is really easy to navigate and rescheduling is no problem. The shop is located in a quiet neighborhood in Alameda with plenty of street parking. Inside, the shop is spacious, clean, and chill. Justin is a excellent barber and a good thoughtful dude. Even though he knew what he was doing, he would ask for my input throughout the cut. We had a picture of the haircut we wanted and everything was going great. We love the vibe and the location. We did have to pay up front along with the tip in order to book an appointment. A few minutes before the cut was completed, my son's sideburns we shaved off entirely and the top of his hair was cut super short. That was the exact opposite of the picture and what we verbally requested. Not sure what happened but it was not the result we wanted. We did reach out via email and no response was provided. 2/20/2023. @12:20 ish I called asking for a design .... Person who answered says yeah I can do it just come on In . Not telling me what the price was , I was tricked into coming . Let me say that an Uber is not cheap!! When I got there , this guy tells me , yu know it's like $60 for a cut , and it'll make it $70...price was nothing to me, what got me was this man didn't know how to do this Nike design after telling me he did ... lol , $70 for a maybe fk up on my hair? Sorry I'm getting my haircut at $35 for a taper , design with it at least $55 . This place lowball's the heck outta ppl . Don't even waist your time . I called the number posted on their front window multiple times, and finally someone answered. After I told him the issue his response was that there other barber shops in Alameda and hangs up.
