I am not a computer repair person. I'm a local business owner who used to be a cop. Hence, me being a doubting Thomas when it comes to "service providers", present company excluded of course :) Randy, what a gem. He diagnosed the issue with my circa 2017 iMac and said the hard drive was shot. I did not doubt him for a second due to the inability for the new OS to download, with all the time I wasted "googling" the problem, sheesh... I should have called Randy first. Here is the final feedback. He got it fixed quickly and when I got the computer home, he put in an SSD, solid-state drive, which we spoke about, briefly. Here is where he earned this 5-star review. He installed a Terrabite sized SSD. He could have gone with a 256 or 512, we did not even discuss it. To show his "code" he went with the 1TB model SSD. That is code beyond code and shows why he has a stellar reputation on the review platforms for computer repairs and Internet Technology. Great job Randy. From recovering lost files on a crashed hard drive to fixing, in 5 minutes, a problem that Dell wanted to repair with a complete system reinstall to letting me down gently that the video on a corrupted memory card was gone forever. My older HP laptop was showing a fan error and a software update error. I brought my laptop to the office. The representative told me the repair would take about 1 week, depending on shipping delays for the fan. Geek was able to repair the software update issue, but couldn't reproduce the fan issue. As soon as I turned my laptop on at home, I saw the fan issue right away. I called the office, and they replaced the fan free of charge the next week. Took my laptop in because it was stuck on an update loop. Turned out it happened because my memory was full. They ended up moving stuff around from my disc drive to my ssd and fixed the problem. Price is a bit high but it was worth it. They called me frequently to keep me updated on what they had to do to my laptop and how much longer it would take. Great customer service. My husband and I found the "It's A Geek" on Yelp by reading reviews. We bought a new computer and wanted Geek to go through and get it up and running and add protective services on it. These were 2 down to earth type guys that make you feel your visiting with a close neighbor or friend. We were quite pleased with the service and their hospitality. The second time we used their services was due to my husband falling prey to a very clever on line scam. I have a home-built behemoth. 32 gb ram, dual 3tb raid hd's. 3rd 3tb for os, etc., latest, fastest intel cpu, etc. Motherboard went south. Since I built it about 2 yrs ago, bad back trouble. I destroyed my computer by spelling non-water liquid, but he managed to download all the data which is the most important thing to me. I will definitely return to him for any kind of Computer needs... He's very relaxed and Doesnt try to sell you sell you services you simply don't need. I moved here six years ago and it took me about three years to find a hairdresser that does the same thing, a car mechanics it does the same thing and now I have a computer expert that does the same thing. But they all have in common is small town mentality: their work is excellent, and by word-of-mouth they don't have to play games with their customers. Thank you very fair prices they do excellent work, so they don't need to worry about playing games with their customers and up selling, pretending they need services they don't need, their business is based on doing a great job and therefore customers recommend them and they return. That is why I search for a long time and it takes a long time to land upon people like that. I've lived in major cities the biggest, New York City and Los Angeles, but I'm a small-town girl babe roots--In small towns you can't get away from being excellent, treating your customers family, and doing a good job or your business will fold within a few months. I did have to buy a new computer which Randy suggested and many other stores might've tried to sell me a retread, or had me try to save it for more money and ultimately told me it was Unsalvageable... And still would've Charged me for the trouble. I asked Randy if he could do maintenance work on my new laptop, things such as speeding it up when it slows down in a year; what is the best malware companies: -- those are the things you don't ask at first, you ask him when you start to trust a business.
