And she did it all while I waited! The best part was that she charged me a VERY reasonable price for all of that. Took no more than maybe 20 minutes. And, her home is just darling! She has Macaws who were "speaking" to me!!! After 2 weeks I went to pick it up during the posted business hours and no one was there. I called the phone number and I heard a message that tells you they're not there, and to not leave a message. I tried calling several times during the day, and no one picked up until about 15 minutes before the posted closing time. I told him what I was looking for, and was told that he had not gotten to it yet, and to try again next week. I advised him that I wanted to pick up the clock and take it somewhere else, and asked if he would be there the next day, which he said that he would. I am now sitting outside of the store during the posted business hours, and once again no one is here. How can they run a business this way? I rarely write reviews, but if you need to get your clock repaired avoid this place at all costs.

When I arrived home, the clock no longer ran when plugged in. I called the store and was told I could receive a $35 credit on the $350 next cost of fixing the clock. The clock has sentimental value to me, however the original cost of the clock was less than $10 long ago. I recommend asking the repair price before the repair work is done. I paid the $35 and would have been satisfied if the clock continued to work, but I would not have agreed to the initial $35 repair cost if known before the 2 minute repair and I won't be returning For the next $350 repair.

I smile when I read "unfriendly" in a review of CCC. They may not have the smiling style of the other places, they just have pure competent substance. They also may not be the "low price leader" in quoting a repair. But they guarantee any repair. I just brought in to them a 6 month old watch that had a hard-to-turn crown. I had taken it first to another place that told me they fixed it but that it was corroded and needed some winding to loosen it up. I discovered it was a quartz watch that needed no winding. The place unscrupulously had charged me $68 for the so-called repair. Chicago opened it up for me while I was there and found a gnarly rubber gasket that I had probably messed up myself trying to wind a battery powered watch. The technician should rightly have called me an idiot but instead just fixed it in 2 minutes, He did not want to charge me anything. I insisted on giving him at least a $20 tip which he reluctantly but appreciatively accepted. This is the kind of business I respect and will patronize again and again going forward.

There was someone there already getting a watch battery replaced. So, while waiting, I walked around admiring their clocks and watches. They have quite a selection - great if you need a nice clock for yourself or as a gift. I took some pictures and a short video and posted them for you to see. When it was my turn, he took the watch and went in the back. It didn't take much more than five minutes for him to return with the watch working again! And the price was very reasonable, under $20. One I had acquired about 40 years ago in downtown Chicago and the other a relatively cheap clock of which I was very fond. It turned out that there was nothing wrong with the older clock (please don't ask me to explain my stupidity) but the gentleman pictured cleaned it and told me all about its history. I was able to take it home immediately and he charged me a grand total of $8 for that very kind service. The other was a much more modern clock, one of four that I owned. It actually needed Far more work. Again, he explained its history. I received a call that I could pick up the second clock and a young gentleman whose family has been involved in the business met me with charm and graciousness. Both clocks are now perfect (and spotless). It almost makes me want to break a clock. This was a wonderful experience.
