One I had acquired about 40 years ago in downtown Chicago and the other a relatively cheap clock of which I was very fond. It turned out that there was nothing wrong with the older clock (please don't ask me to explain my stupidity) but the gentleman pictured cleaned it and told me all about its history. I was able to take it home immediately and he charged me a grand total of $8 for that very kind service. The other was a much more modern clock, one of four that I owned. It actually needed Far more work. Again, he explained its history. I received a call that I could pick up the second clock and a young gentleman whose family has been involved in the business met me with charm and graciousness. Both clocks are now perfect (and spotless). It almost makes me want to break a clock. This was a wonderful experience.

And I am so ecstatic that I did. I made the appointment and within a few days he contacted me to let me know he was on his way. He came in during this crazy pandemic and was very careful with mask and social distancing, for this i am very appreciative as I have an elderly mom at home. He came and dismantled the clock precisely and with great care. And it only took 45 minutes and worth every penny! He even told me the history of this particular clock and I am glad he is so knowledgeable in regards to clocks. He let me know he's been doing this for over 20 years and that says a lot. I can appreciate workmanship and precision. This is definitely a lost craft and I am going to keep his business card as i am convinced I will be purchasing another clock in the near future.
