Some coffee shops are simply places to grab a caffeine fix. Others become gathering places for the neighborhood. It's In The DNA Coffee is clearly aiming for the latter. We stopped by their Park Street location on a Sunday morning, when they were hosting "The Morning After Market," a collection of local vendors selling everything from flowers and handmade jewelry to baked goods and books. My wife immediately gravitated toward The Paper Hare book truck and picked up one of their "Blind Date with a Book" packages, complete with mystery novel, tea, bookmarks, and stickers. It's a clever idea, and one that fits the relaxed, community-minded atmosphere. Inside the café, I ordered an iced chai alongside the Monte Cristo crepe. My wife went with a cortado and the avocado toast. The iced chai was refreshing, although I would have welcomed a little more of the warm spice that gives chai its personality. It was pleasant, just a bit restrained. The Monte Cristo crepe was the highlight of the meal. Filled with ham and mozzarella, then finished with powdered sugar and a raspberry drizzle, it walked the line between sweet and savory without leaning too far in either direction. Every bite made sense. The avocado toast was less ambitious. Toast, smashed avocado, an over easy egg, and everything bagel seasoning. It was competently made, but didn't leave much of an impression beyond checking all the expected boxes. Sometimes that's enough. It's In The DNA Coffee succeeds less because of any one menu item and more because of the experience it creates. Good coffee, a welcoming atmosphere, and a space that encourages people to linger a little longer is a recipe that's hard to argue with. Not every coffee shop needs to reinvent brunch. Sometimes being a comfortable place to spend a Sunday morning is more than enough. read more

Came in with some friends to get them some coffee. I don't drink coffee, so I was happy to see multiple different drink options. The man at the register was very sweet and got all our orders in quickly. I settled on the strawberry lemonade and a bacon breakfast sandwich. Both came out quickly and were so good! Stopped in to try DNA on a Saturday mid-morning. Was happy to find there was plenty of parking. That may not be the case during the week due to the location though. Interior is really lovely and was unexpected. Service was friendly and helpful. My sister was excited they had a cookie butter latte as a seasonal offering and her granddaughter had the cute unicorn drink with cotton candy in it! It's in the DNA started as a coffee cart that expanded to a beloved brick and mortar shop in Central Fla. Owners Dalonte & Adriana (DnA) moved their family to Jax and relocated their coffee shop to the Five Points area. I stopped in last month to check them out and had a nice chat with Adriana. She was incredibly welcoming and the shop is very cozy. I enjoyed an iced Apple of My Eye latte | apple strudel with caramel drizzle. But what I really want to highlight was my breakfast sandwich because it was terrific! I went with the Bacon Gouda Egg sandwich with garlic aioli. One bite in & I knew it was freshly made which Adriana confirmed for me - freshly baked brioche, bacon directly from the butcher, & fresh eggs. As soon as I walked in the gorgeous decor caught my eye. I love a cafe with nice decor and seating area. Makes me want to come back and get work done. My kids loved it too especially the games in the table. I forgot her name but the lady was so sweet and the boys said she was really nice. Stepped into tranquility this morning and was served by a sweet girl named Serenity. It was my first time in so she gave me insight on the place. It has that warm feel as soon as you walk in. The sweet girl working wasn't sure of any question that I asked and had to call to ask. Just slightly lacking in quality service. The vibes were super cute and photogenic! The music was pretty loud and obnoxious so maybe not your study spot but for sure a hang out spot. I will give them another chance since they just opened and they have so many options, so I'll not make my final decision on them just yet! For now I'm giving 7/10 total experience. read more

nahhhh son this is not it. I went here for my lunch because I was looking for a new coffee spot to try and also do some work. First, the shop is very small. It is very aesthetically pleasing, I love the decoration, plants, lighting, everything! But I feel like the shop is really loud (as in you can hear everyone's conversation). I was working in the corner thinking it would be a quiet spot in the shop, but it wasn't really quiet. I could hear the convo from the ppl at the couches loud and clear. Probably bc they were talking rly loud and the shop was basically empty, but I could hear everything. Ok but the food tho, nah not it's not it either. I originally ordered the prosciutto toast, but the barista gave me the bruschetta toast. I didnt complain though, I was down to try something new. I gave it a bite and it was not good. Let's start with the piece of bread it came with. I don't think it was toasted, if it was, it wasn't on toasted for long. The bread was so thin and it tasted like Publix brand sour dough bread - that's not a bad though, but I was expecting something nicer. The tomato was chopped into block like pieces and slathered on the bread, this made the bead very moist and not crispy. The amount of bruschetta was very little, I didn't rly taste it, and also not too much balsamic. glaze. I didn't enjoy this. Toast the bread and maybe slice the tomatoes and a little more bruschetta. The matcha was on the sweeter side, which I didn't mind. For the matcha enthusiast, this might not pass. read more

Visited on their grand opening. The shop is in a fantastic location and the decor inside is cozy and inviting. They have a nice mixture of more couches and tables & chairs for working or casual meetups. I tried a lavender latte which was really tasty and the coffee wasn't bitter at all. I wouldn't say it was my favorite lavender latte I've had but I did not try any of their signature drinks. The staff was friendly. I'd definitely stop in again when in the area. read more

My son needed to go to the doctor, and I was surprised that next door to the office there was a coffee shop I hadn't seen before. I saw that it had been listed on the Yelp "passport" I received when I went to the Popup Bagels event, so I decided to treat him after his visit. We walked in and it was super quiet, dimly lit, and only a few people in there. The woman who made our drinks and checked us out was sweet and quiet. I saw that Yelp recommended the Oatly Shaken iced latte, and they had chocolate milk for my son. I went with the latte, and the woman also made my son's chocolate milk with chocolate syrup and whole milk, which I feel you don't see many places making chocolate milk anymore. For two drinks it was around $16. Also, this place is on the Jax Donut Trail, so make sure to check in. The latte was smooth and tasted creamy. I definitely would order it again. I'm glad to see there's somewhere close and within walking distance if ever my son and I want a treat after an appointment. read more
