I just looked on their menu to figure out what the fries that I ate were called, and I can't find them for the life of me. But they had their own incredible dip completely covering them. The server could have been more attentive.. didn't come back to check on us, even though the restaurant wasn't super busy. The biggest disappointment is that this establishment passes on a 5% fee to help pay for their staff's benefits. They stay it's optional and they can take it off but it's very distasteful. The owner should reconsider this and build this expense into the pricing of their menu. Otherwise their wait staff is going to feel slighted when customers leave less tip because of this additional fee. Overall, this is a solid place, but the experience was just average considering all aspects, and therefore the three star rating.

As other reviews state, this is kind of a strange restaurant that seems more like it's for regulars rather than new customers. There's no actual printed menu other than hints of a menu on the signboard above the register (and we confirmed this with the cashier). I guess this is to save on cost, which coincidentally also allows them to adjust pricing on the fly? There are photos posted of the menu from 2024, but my guess is those are of an old pre-COVID menu, given that the prices increased over 50% at this point. Per other reviews, dine-in orders are also packaged in takeout boxes and can take a variable amount of time to cook. We don't usually get takeout much, but decided to call in an order for this visit. This was at around 5PM on Saturday and we were promised a 30 minute wait. We arrived 30 minutes later, paid for the order, and it ended up taking about another 10 minutes. Not too bad. Benechin Beef ($18.99) - As I learned, benechin is essentially a different term for the more commonly known (at least in the US) jollof rice. In this case, the rice has a deep tomato and spiced umami that combines a pleasant saltiness with a heat level that builds and builds. It's topped with a small side of cabbage that seems to be stewed in the same spices as the rice. There's then a piece of yucca root, stewed but still rather toothsome with fiber strands all in one direction like muscle grains. For the beef, they include four pieces of thinly sliced barbecued meat. The meat is extremely flavorful with what seems to be a black pepper and allium based spice mixture. In terms of texture, it's quite tough and chewy, almost to the level of beef jerky. (4/5) Afra Lamb ($20.99) - This dish comes with a choice of rice or salad, not both as the older menu states. We went with the rice which comes in a smaller container and is a long grain rice cooked until perfectly fluffy. It's cooked with salt, which is something that I'm not used to. The larger container includes a mound of bone-in lamb meat doused in a savory and tangy mustard based sauce. The meat is a very interesting mixture of off-cuts, a combination of cross-cut ribs, shanks, lamb chops, and some random other cuts. The lamb is mostly bone in and there are tons of small bone shards all over the meat, making it a bit of a pain to eat. The meat isn't very gamey and all and is much more tender as compared to the beef jerky in the benechin. On top of the lamb, they include mustard infused softened onions and whole quick-charred onion rings, resulting in a still crunchy texture. They include some powdered dried chilis is a small pile hidden under the onions. Be careful - it's starts out smoky like paprika to start and the heat only starts to build after a couple of seconds. (4/5) Bantaba is a great place to try some new food. While it's not the most beginner friendly restaurant, it offers some flavors and dishes that are hard to find around Seattle. One which is not in the photos was called ouz operator and I simply did not enjoy it, at all, matter of personal taste. Server didn't ask how everything was or if we liked it, and I thought that was a bit odd. Our server was friendly but she was also busy with a lot of tables and our interactions felt more quick and business like. A couple times we needed something I had to make eye contact to get attention. Inside was quite nice. Simple. We had a booth by the window and it was just right. Overall a very nice time if you want this style of food.

A few years ago I took my wife to Morocco to renew our wedding vows, something I'd promised to do for years. My wife is Moroccan and I knew she missed her home country. When we came back to the US I could tell she missed one thing in particular. It was the food, something about it reminded her of her childhood in Morocco. I decided to surprise her and find a Moroccan restaurant near us, so when I found Itto's Tapas on Yelp and saw the glowing reviews I had to take her. We started with the Moroccan Spiced Olives, they were fantastic! A few minutes after our olives settled the waitress brought out our food, my wife had gotten the Meatball with Poached egg, and I got the Beef Tenderloin. The tenderloin was done to perfection, it was so juicy and tender it almost melted in my mouth. My wife lived the meatball as well. The plates were presented gorgeously, I felt like I was visiting a Gordon Ramsey restaurant. The atmosphere was serene and romantic, with that special Moroccan flair. My wife later told me how it felt just like home. We'll definitely be back! read more

Tried this place for the first time last night. All the food was great except the chocolate and really that was more because of personal preference as they didn't tell us it had spicy peppers in it, probably good if you like that. The Cocktail Safi was more well balanced than the discription (several bitter ingredients). It went down really easy. Maakooda, Moorish Boquerones, and the Paella were probably the highlights of the food. All well plated with lots of flavor and relatively speedy for a Friday night. Only other possible downside, like many small mediterranean restaurants, the tables are very close together because they have to maximize the small space to make a profit. Best restaurant in West Seattle.Loved the atmosphere, the service, and especially the food.There are so many gluten-free options without it being just a replacement of bread.The Maakooda potatoes are a surprise.I can't even describe how amazed I was that a vegan and gf item tasted this good.The Moroccan meatballs are are a must and order a side of bread to some up the poached egg and sauce.I ordered the baby octopus and it was delightful for those of us that like seafood. It was a good texture and not chewy.I would highly recommend coming at 4PM if possible to get a seat. This place is packed at 5:30PM on a Friday night. I have a gluten allergy, I'm not one of those people who just says that for some health trend, but I actually am allergic. The hard thing about having a gluten allergy is finding a restaurant that is gluten free, yet still tastes amazing. I found that when I visited Itto's Tapas. Their menu is almost completely gluten free with the exception of the Bastilla. I ordered the Zaalook to start off and then the Berbere Burger. Let me tell you, not many people can get lamb cooked correctly, but the spiced lamb on the Berbere burger was fantastic. I saw this restaurant as the best place for those who actually want to get the value for their money in Seattle, besides, it serves its customers right for everything you may need to keep you happy. I visited this restaurant for the first time on 23 December 2015 with a friend while on temporary tour. The "Spanish paella with lamb" was nothing to write about. What a delicious food? Came here once, on 28 May 2016. The place was loud but I did not seem comfortable, as I had to wait for a long time on my seat. The service was like they show regard to few other persons. When my meal was served, they brought in what I did not request for. From the menu, I ordered for "Crab", they brought in lemon chicken. I asked for an exchange which seemed unrelenting though, but finally, my favorite was meant. The crab was mixed with a variety of ingredients and I really love it. Itto's catered an event I was hosting and exceeded expectations! I knew the restaurant was adorable (dimly lit, small tables, cushions... the kind of cozy vibe that reminds me of old school Capitol Hill establishments) and the food was great (especially love the olives and beet salad, and the Moroccan meatballs) but I wasn't sure how it would translate for a large group. I visited this restaurant a few years ago and remembered the good food, so I returned yesterday evening. The restaurant is well-decorated, and the staff is friendly and attentive. They informed us that the pictures on the menu were not accurate, specifically that the Moorish Boquerones we ordered would come with 2 pieces instead of 4. However, I found the restaurant quite noisy this time, making it difficult to hear my friend. I visit this place occasionally, and the reason is when I want to take a specific meal. Sometimes they serve better, and sometimes too the service is unfortunate. I found the food, the service and the ambience to be excellent. The owners are onsite and marking sure that everything is done to make the patrons happy. Leisurely paced, the servers do not hover or rush you through your meal. I could not decide between two dishes, so the restaurant created a dish of both irems so I didn't have to choose. I ended up getting a plate that featured beef/lamb fries, salad, and pita bread. I was pleasantly surprised that they gave a good portion of food that came with all that! Everything was cooked well and tasted great! Obviously the place is great for being right along the main road that goes along the water, and even if you stay inside, the place feels nice and inviting. The people working are nice and work hard to get the food out fast but without sacrificing quality. A solid spot!

I ordered the falafel plate, only 15 bucks after tip and tax. The platter was huge, did not expect it honestly. The falafel was hot and fresh, creamy on the inside with no hard bits. The salad was great, came with fresh peeled cucumbers and pickled onions I'm assuming. They were paired with 3 different white sauces, delicious creamy hummus, and finally toasted pita bread. Everything was great. Chefs kiss. The service was superb. Quick, efficient and easy. Didn't wait too long for everything to be prepared. I was honestly planning on eating at home but I just couldn't help myself. I cleaned the plate real good, kinda embarrassed. The only thing I'd say was the music being a bit loud but they turned it down luckily. Coming back for sure on a regular basis! Everything exceeded my expectations.

He almost forgot my Coke. I understand there were other Patrons but we told him it was our First time. We had to keep calling him over to explain the actual dishes. Parking is only street parking. I would come again to try some of the other dishes they have to offer but I will sit in a Booth.
