Wow! One of the best restaurants I've been in Seattle!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place has a cozy vibe. Very small place with tight seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] All dishes were impressive! Well balanced flavors, and rich texture, and a fun cocktail selection as a plus My favorites: - zaalouk: Smokey eggplant with nicely minced garlic for extra flavor - tortilla espanola: simple authentic Spanish style. Delicious - squid steak: a must-order!!! So tender and thinly sliced squid soaked in nutty and tomato-ish sauce. Full of umami flavor. Loved the zucchini in it too though it's just a side character. Most squid dishes in the states don't get the texture right, hard to chew sometimes, but this one is superior in many ways - lamb brochette: tender and juicy Will definitely come back here bringing family and friends - this place is such a gem and I would highly highly recommend to everyone!!!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a local cozy tapa bar perfect for an intimate small group quick meet up or a couple night out stop, or even a stop just to chill on your own.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was our random stop on a Wed night. Our favorite dish was the beet salad, Spanish seafood paella, and squid steek, and lamb skewers. My hubby was never a fan of beet salad, but theirs was good. We were about to order a second. And their lamb and squid dish were on point. We were not huge on the beef tenderloin as it's a bit on a sweeter end due to the sauce on top & we don't really favor sweet. There is a variety of wine selection and option for cocktails, but we are foodie people. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a small neighborhood bar, a nice convenient walk for many residents in the area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This place is a keeper.

Tuesday night meal in West Seattle. Moroccan tapas restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Real cute place and good offerings.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We shared the tapas below: Dolmes, rice stuffed grape leaves -- real good, the creamy goat cheese with peppers and rice was super. Zaalouk eggplant with tomato spread on baguette -- this one was ok, the spread was cold and the flavors were ok compared to the rest. stuffed dates -- outstanding. The creamy goat cheese and balsamic reduction paired very well. Maakouda sliced potato cake - star of the night. Perfectly fried with a little heat Spicy Harissa Vegetables - mostly brussel sprouts with the red peppers and harissa. The brussels really needed the red peppers. Chicken Bastilla -- This was a great entree. The phyllo crust on the outside was done very well. The cinnamon, honey went so well with the chicken and almonds. you could taste every flavor. Moroccan meatballs was our last entree. The marina sauce was very good the meatball was pretty good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A nice restaurant and experience all together. Great place to go with a group and share[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]].

I love tapas and Itto's was amazing. I enjoyed the Moroccan style and could definitely taste the spices especially in the meatballs and lamb! We tried a variety of food from the dolmes to croquettes and all were exceptional. I had the foggy ras cocktail, which was served with smoke and although strong was super yummy! Also had fun spices and could taste the smoke at the back end! Will be returning :)

One of the best meals I have eaten in years. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love tiny places with a huge heart. That is this place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered quite a few things. I ate till I couldn't fit anything else in and I was wishing for more room. I would for back to Seattle just to eat here.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is such a cute space with the Moroccan decor and candlelight.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food was delicious, I particularly enjoyed the beef tenderloin and moorish boquerones. Drinks left something to be desired, cocktail was one dimensional and lacked any sort of garnish, wines by the glass were disappointing as well.

Great visit and food! Our first dinner in Seattle. Hibiscus kombucha with a touch of pineapple and a raspberry shrub. Moroccan Lemon Chicken for which we requested extra bread to mop up the sauce! Squid steak.

11/10. From the food to the service, our time here was amazing. The dim lighting and cool music also created a nice ambiance. For food we ordered (1) scallops -- perfectly seared over a bed of corn salad. There were only 4 pieces so i would have still been hungry, had we not ordered more food. (2) beef tenderloin tapas -- served over a well balanced red wine reduction with roasted potatoes (3) berbere burger -- I have no idea what it was but the flavors were impeccable. Nothing we ordered was a miss. I was honestly so sad when we finished because I wanted just a little more to taste but was so full. Note: meal was shared between 2 people and was plenty.

I remembered going to Itto's years ago when I was in the area with a friend. My partner and I wanted to grab food after checking out Atstra Lumina and I remembered Itto's wasn't too far away. This place is perfect for someone who is a carnivore dating someone who is almost vegetarian. The tapas menu is laid out in sections for vegetarian and vegan, seafood, and meat. He ordered the Spicy Harissa Vegetable, Maakouda (Moroccan spiced potato cake), and Khoudra Burger, and liked them in this order. The Spicy Harissa Vegetables were a big hit, the table next next to us even commented on how good it was when it showed up. The Maakouda was also very savory, the Khoudra burger was kind of a miss. The flavor was alright but not as savory as the other items and it was falling part and definitely needed a fork and knife. I got the tenderloin as an entree and requested the potatoes on the side so my partner could have them. I ordered rare, and this was definitely rare, it was almost blue. This tenderloin competes with the best steak houses in Seattle, it was perfect. Perfect temp, amazing flavor, and I was surprised the demi was also on the side but then I could dip the tenderloin in as much as I wanted. The portions were great too, not too much or too little. The bar has chartreuse and he ordered a last word. I usually stick to tea or water but went for an NA shrub soda and it was delightful. We're not in West Seattle often but after rediscovering this gem I would like to come back more often.

Phoenecia…read morehas been in the neighborhood since 1970 and moved to their current location near the Alaska Junction in 2019. I fell in love with this place after using them for catering. We were looking for a different food experience beyond hotdogs. I was impressed. The family is Lebanese and the father was the inspiration for the food. When I came to k ow the place and the owners, the mother was active in the restaurant. She introduced me to Lebanese oregano (Za'atar) and gave me some to grow. The two sisters have always been nice, but Nadia and Sonya are simple beautiful humans that go Out of your way to ensure you have a great experience. Their wait staff are very good and you hardly know they are present as they quietly bring food and remove plates with quiet excellence. I have always felt warm and cared for each time I have eaten at Phoenecia and have been friends with the owners for about 15 years. I have friends that have food establishments but have not come close to Phoenecia. Burrata is a tricky one for me. To soft and it is like water and bland to a cheese with a very light flavor to begin with and too firm and it can have the texture of mozzarella. The shell of this was perfect and allowed me to enjoy it with the toasted bread. The warmed olives are a great way to start the meal. There is a hint of chili oil and decorated with arugula. I am not a fan of kale, however, the manner in which this salad is made with shredded kale, and a tangy dressing with toasted spiced garbanzo beans with Kalamata olives, blue cheese covered with thier lemon basil vinaigrette was just wonderful. The spicy shrimp strike an interring balance between the slices that are used and heat from the spices. I could eat this dish all night. There just never seems to be enough u til you remember that you still have another appetizer in the main course ahead of you. The saffron chicken linguini was amazing. The saffron flavor was intoxicating and I loved every fork full, leaving the sauce and bread as an additional treat together. I had a small tast of the gnocchi with lamb sausage in truffle oil and found it to be heavenly. I finished the meal With a Turkish affogato and enjoyed every sip and the melted vanilla ice cream simply added to the richness of the flavor. They have come up with a novel idea to recycle bottles that had whisky and use them for water. The shape adds a lovely decorative note to the table not expected. Phoenecia will always be a place like home for me.

To start I got the "Mediterranean G&T" - gin & tonic and what came out was a gin & tonic about as fancy the restaurant - a stem glass with a huge piney herb hanging out of it. The drink hit. My date got the "Pretty in Pink" which is small, but not in the alcohol percent dept. she said it was good. We shared some small plates - she raved about the Saffron chicken, and I recommended the roasted cauliflower. The Saffron chicken are short cuts accompanied by saffron sauce and some pitas to eat if off of. These sauce for sure is really good, I even put some on the cauliflower. My only complaint is some of the bites of I found to be too salty. The Cauliflower was also good, nicely seasoned but the cuts were huge and tough, I think it would be better presented with the florets. The service was good but the prices for what we got was a bit steep. The "small plates" and drinks came over $70. They were good, but not THAT good. Still the ambience, service and food for what it was along with a varied Mediterranean menu is good. I'd say Phoenecia is about a 3.5-4.

I'll start with the beef, as it was the primary component of the dish. Despite it being flank steak, it was clearly simmered for a long time - and displayed none of the traditionally chewy or dry properties associated with the tougher cut. The sauce also helped - it was very well spiced, and had a slight tomato-like flavor. Mixing this with the yellow rice yielded something that was really satisfying to eat. The combination of sauce, beef, and rice was quite enjoyable, even with mixing the vegetables in for some extra crunch. The portion size of beef was crazy. When combined with the rice, the total amount of food here was solidly enough for two full meals. It is around 20 dollars for the dish, but I would classify that as a good value when you consider how much food you get. On the opposite side, I swapped the maduros out for fries. These...were not good. The fries tasted stale, hard, and not appealing at all. While the portion size was high, the appeal was not. The sauce that came with these was interesting at least. Overall, I think this is a very strong core dish at an impressive portion. Would recommend sticking with the plantains as a side though. 8.5/10

I knew going in that I had to try their carnitas, but it was the other dishes that impressed me the most. The quesabirria was top notch. If you haven't had one before, it's as if a quesadilla and a taco had a beautiful baby - and the tortilla is dipped in the sauce that the meat is cooked in. The cheese is plentiful and delicious, it's a blanket that I've to take a nap in. I was a bit thrown off by the chunks of birria, most places shred it up. But I would say that it was much more juicy than the shredded version, I was blown away. This comes with some awesome roasted jalapeños and onions. The carnitas taco was excellent. For a street taco, they load it up with meat. It's a very traditional taco, so just carnitas, onions, and cilantro on a tortilla. But if you have the opportunity to eat here you should, they have an extensive taco bar with everything you need. The star of the show for me was the tostada de camarón. You just don't get them like this elsewhere in Seattle. Shrimp, mango, jalapeño, and avocado are all diced up to provide even distribution on a crunchy tostada. It's an exquisite bite every time. And there's a sweet sauce on it that makes the whole dish blend together so well. Carnitas Michoacán is a MUST visit if you're in the area. There's also a little market and carnicería next door that has some incredible food if you're making Mexican dishes at home, or if you just want some massive chicharrones.
