My heart is so full 3 my bunny love

The Rabbit Haven is an incredible organization with the BEST staff and volunteers! The love they have for bunnies is genuine. The care and attention all bunnies in their care receive sets this organization apart from other "rabbit rescues" in the area and is why I chose to adopt from The Rabbit Haven. This is an organization I trust and will support because they are doing critical advocacy for so many rabbits currently in need. Kim is my adoption fairy godmother who went above and beyond to help me find my furever companion. After The Rabbit Haven received my application, I was put in touch with Kim. Kim and I talked for almost 2 hours on the phone - Kim took the time to get to know me and what I was looking for in a bunny. I have had my heart set on a holland lop so when Harley, the most adorable calico lop was surrendered to The Rabbit Haven and ready to find her furever home, I reached out to Kim to set up a meet & greet appointment and I'm a new bunny mom! Everything fell into place so beautifully - I know Harley and I were meant to find each other & I'm so happy for the future adoptions that will be made on behalf of The Rabbit Haven. Thank you so much Kim, AJ and The Rabbit Haven for my new best friend!

With easter right around the corner and you find yourself contemplating getting a rabbit, PLEASE PLEASE do your research on rabbit ownership. It is a 10 plus year commitment and these wonderful creatures take just as much work as a cat or dog. That being said, rabbit ownership is one of the MOST rewarding. They make wonderful pets when allowed to be part of the family. They are not meant to sit in cages all day. They all have their own unique personalities and will quickly win your heart. The rabbit haven is a non profit rescue that takes in abandoned and shelter rabbits. Some even slated to be put to sleep due to no fault of their own. Alot are fostered in private homes where they are handled and loved till they find their furever family. All are littered trained or in the process of getting trained ( yes they use litter boxes just like cats ). Adoption fairs are held twice a month in Santa Cruz and 1st Saturdays at the For Other Living Things in Sunnyvale. If you go onto their website under "adoption showcase" there are bios and pictures of bunnies currently looking for a home. You can also email and make an appointment to meet any of these cuties during the adoption showcase. Please adopt and save a precious buns life. 5 stars

When deciding on getting a rabbit, please do yourself a huge favor and study, research and fully inform yourself on everything that you possibly can! Welcoming a rabbit into your new home requires a lot of love, commitment, dedication and hard work but believe me! It is so worth It! They give love freely and are very easy too train. They also make for a wonderful companions! Once you've studied up on them, do a rabbit a miracle and yourself afavor and reach out to Heather at the rabbit haven!!! You will be very pleased that you did@ Heather, James! Thank you so much!!! My baby, ba-bunny is very happy. Thanks a thousand more and Once more every passing moment!!!

I am a volunteer with The Rabbit Haven, so my review is biased. However, if it were not for the positive experiences with the Haven, I never would have started volunteering with the group. All three of my house rabbits have been adopted through the Rabbit Haven. We host adoption shows at For Other Living Things in Sunnyvale once a month and twice a month at PetSmart in Santa Cruz. Our adoption events are a chance to come by and meet the bunnies, but to also come in and ask questions about your bunnies or get a free nail trim. We also provide match making services to help your spayed or neutered bunny find a friend. We do a lot of outreach to the public about house rabbits. Although one of the main goals is to find homes for rabbits - we also help a lot of people who have rabbits learn about the importance of spay /neuter, healthy diet, finding a knowledgeable rabbit vet, rabbit health and care. Bringing a bunny into your home is at least a 10 year commitment and we have a pretty thorough adoption process. We are a non-profit, and all volunteer run. We don't have government support, and rely on donations and small grants. We are also always looking for foster homes and volunteers too. ~~~ Rabbit Haven cares for up to 85+ rabbits at a time through our foster site network. Rabbit Haven rescues injured and abandoned rabbits and accepts surrendered rabbits from the general public, from shelters and from other rescue organizations in Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, San Benito and Monterey Counties.

I was looking for another Siamese and happened upon a picture of a sweet grey tabby but didn't think much of it. While my husband and I were out in San Jose one day we stopped at the local pet store for some cat food for our Nala. I just by chance happened into the rescue area and there was Elisa, and "Chica" the grey tabby I saw online. Mind you, I was looking for a Siamese, however when I saw the tabby I picked her up and it was over. I turned around to my hubby and he knew, she was mine. I filled out the paperwork and went to visit/pick her up a few days later from her foster home. "Chica" renamed IzzyBelle or IzzyB (or my nickname for her was Mama) wasn't quite a year we think, small and Elisa said was a "silent meower", Elisa lied! Once Izzy settled, she never stopped talking! Sadly I lost my girl yesterday, after 8+ years (she was 9 we think) she's waiting for me on the other side, she's not in pain and she's fat and sassy like she used to be. I had a wonderful vet give me and her the chances to try and then a grace filled passing, on my shoulder tucked under my neck like she liked to snuggle in often. Once my Nala passes, our hearts are healed and the threat of any leukemia "germs" from Izzy are gone, I will be back to Unconditional Love for a new kitty friend. Please patronize rescue places, the kitty that is yours will find you, no matter what you think you want, they'll find YOU and your heart will be theirs forever. In my grief I tell you this, let a rescue come into your heart.

Having been raised in a household chock-full of pets - cats, bunnies, horses, a younger brother…read morewith ADD, and even a parakeet - my mind was set on adopting two cats of my own as soon as it was financially feasible. When that day came, I checked out Unconditional Love's website based on a friend's recommendation, and after finding out I'd be supporting a rescue group, I eagerly submitted my application. A few days later, I received a call asking if I could swing by their next adoption fair so they could show me some cats they thought would be great matches. I'm pretty sure I screamed "YES!" before Elena, the volunteer-slash-foster-mom on the other line, could even finish asking the question. Upon my arrival to the adoption fair at the Pet Food Express in Los Gatos, I quickly remembered that I suck at making decisions, especially when it comes to cute, fuzzy things. Thankfully, without my having to ask for guidance, Elena and Renee, another wonderful volunteer, introduced me to Kona (Cleo) and Ellie (Lorelei), who instantly turned my heart to mush. Unfortunately, due to extenuating circumstances, I was unable to take them home immediately. Though the weeklong wait felt like years, this time was well spent. Unconditional Love got my girls socialized, and organized their medical records, chip information, and adoption forms, making the pick-up seamless. Perhaps most importantly, they saved two cats whose lives got off to a rather rough start, and let me give them a forever home. There are no words to describe the joy, silliness and love they've brought to my life. Unconditional Love's $100 per animal adoption fee does not begin to cover what's owed for that. *And now, as an added bonus, I am going to step on my soapbox for just a moment to discuss my take on the breeders vs. rescues debate.* According to the ASPCA, between 3-4 MILLION dogs and cats are euthanized nationwide each year. The vast majority of these animals are perfectly adoptable, but due to overcrowding, they don't get that chance to find their "forever" home. If you are wanting to adopt a pet, please consider: A) rescuing instead of buying from a breeder; and B) getting your pet spayed or neutered to prevent more overcrowding in shelters. If you do, you'll save money, be more likely to get a healthy pet, and most importantly, you'll feel better because you're saving two lives - the pet you adopt and a homeless animal somewhere who can be rescued because of space you helped free up.

Every person we have talked to at SBPR is friendly, knowledgeable, and has the best interest of the animals at heart. Our first dog was our very first, but we put in the time and research to demonstrate that we were ready for a pet. Though we were newbies and fully disclosed this, SBPR saw that she was a good fit for us as a "first dog," and we have been smitten with her ever since. She is even "bosom buddies" with my mom's dog from SBPR (who is 14 going on 15). With our recent second dog, also from SBPR, we were unsure how our current dog and new dog would get along, both being older and set in their ways. The foster mom allowed us to have a meet-and-greet, and even a trial weekend to see how they would live together. She saw that we were committed to what was best for both dogs, and the potential for a loving home with another SBPR "alum". We are so happy it was a successful transition. These dogs have brought so much love and light into our lives. SBPR cares about dogs and finding loving forever homes, and we are so lucky no-kill orgs like this one exist in our area.
