Hats off to Yolanda for a beautiful and delicious cake for my 1 year old son's birthday! I found her on Yelp and her cake designs blew me away. I love supporting local businesses so I filled out the online form. Yolanda was super easy to communicate with and so very nice. She provided me a quote for my request of a semi-naked woodland bear themed cake with shades of green, browns and golds. The size is 10in and 6in tiered cake, which feeds about 40. It fed a lot more at the party! She delivered it to the party venue right on time and it was the perfect hybrid of the inspo pics I sent her. Our guests were very impressed with the cake design and raved that the cake itself (chocolate with strawberries and cream filling) was moist and not too sweet. I am late in leaving this review, but that is MY mistake. I should have left it lightning fast for all of the accolades that the cake she made for us got. About 6 years ago, I have a giant blast of a 50th birthday party for my husband at the Ivy Room in Albany. It was a 3 band extravaganza and the cake got as much cheering as the bands did. Yolanda delivered the cake (it was BIG) and made is just like I had asked. It was a giant 3 layer cake, and the inspiration I gave her was "pretend that this cake is the 5th member of the band KISS". I wanted it to have a guitar on it and flames and all the rock and roll imaging that she could muster. And boy did she deliver! Not only was it spectacular to look at, but it was downright delicious. In fact, the band that came from Los Angeles to play for My husband's birthday (including members of the bands The Germs, The Seeds, B Movie Rats, Ike Turner's Touring band and White Zombie) asked for a layer of the cake to take with them to their hotel in lew of lieu of a portion of their payment. The cake was that good. You could say it was on a "rock star" level. Yolanda was wonderful to deal with as well. I admittedly didn't give her too much direction, just...make a rock star cake! And she came through with flying colors and did exactly the perfect thing. I'm throwing myself my own birthday bash now, and she's who I went to without exception for my potential cake. The Five Little Monkeys themed cake we ordered was absolutely delicious! She did, however, get one aspect of my order wrong. I wanted two monkeys on the bed (my daughter was turning 2) holding the letters E and M and three on the bottom holding the remaining letters of my daughter's name, the I, L, and Y (so it could also subtly say EM, I Love You). There ended up being 3 monkeys on the bed (holding letters E, M, I respectively) and two on the bottom (holding L and Y). We didn't even notice it right away cause we were busy and she was also in a rush but I wish we did. It's obviously not as bad as getting a horrible cake, but still not quite what we ordered though. So I would definitely suggest making sure there's a clear understanding between you and the baker about your order so this doesn't happen. read more

Lemme tell you, it was a stress fest trying to get my cake right for my 25th birthday. I emailed SEVERAL bakers about what I wanted. Either they were too high in price, didnt really have a lot of flavors or either flaked on me *cough* Carolyn Wong Cakes *cough* but anywhooooooo I stumbled across YoYo cakes and decided to email her. We skip to 830 at my party and the cupcakes were a hit amongst guest. They wasnt touching my cake because that was for me. And dealing with the Pandemic I knew it would be kind of tough especially if you didn't know someone already. Found her on craigslist when I was looking for someone to make me a fake Hawaiian inspired wedding cake for my wedding. After found a picture of what I wanted, we worked out what I wanted for my cake and what she could do, we settled on the cost.
