I also thought the color palette of yellow and blue was interesting, not what I picture when I think of that fruit. Gluten free chocolate salted caramel: This was probably my favorite because it was chocolatey and that helped balance it out so it didn't taste as overwhelmingly sweet. Ordered some cupcakes for a staff Halloween lunch. Woah! I'm not a huge cupcake person, but I am now! The flavors were absolutely divine! Red velvet, chocolate, vanilla, banana nut, cookies and cream, etc. Each cupcake was perfectly moist and not dried out, like some places tend to be. The designs were adorable as well. I had placed an order for a strawberry flavored gender reveal cake. The cake was for me and I specifically asked for a fondant teddy bear on top of the cake with white frosting and the "reveal" with pink or blue inside of the cake. First time here and greeted with a friendly and very patient staff close to closing. Red velvet, Bunny Love and Salted Caramel are the popular flavors here and the first two were sold out by the time I got there. I tried the key lime which was my favorite, strong lime flavor. It was quite sweet and a bit tart. It has a yellow cake bottom I think with a graham cracker crust.I bought the salted caramel and pistachio chocolate as well but didn't get to try the salted caramel since I gave it away :( The pistachio cream has a really strong pistachio flavor, almost tastes like the way almond does as a flavor. The chocolate bottom is subtly chocolate and felt separated from the cream top. I think this is the cupcake that would taste better if eaten with the cupcake hack like a sandwich. I didn't want to go there because I wanted to visit a former favorite and the only place had only one GF flavor, which I've tasted before. My husband got a fourth - non gluten free. I came here because I was in the area and saw a sign for them. I noticed that the original location was empty and that they'd moved to a smaller, cozier location. That may have been a mistake because the quality has gone from passable/OK (I last went there a very long time ago) to grotesque. We weren't quite greeted and the person behind the counter was with someone else. She was nice enough and put my order in a cute box. She was nice enough to ask if I wanted the non GF cupcake in a separate box. I did and she honored my request. I held on to my prize and ate them when I got home after dinner. Now if I'd waited a week to eat them, I would be able to understand the texture problems if I had waited a week. But the flavors were off. The cupcakes literally crumbled in my hands as I held them. The tops didn't, but they were probably held together by the frosting. I don't know what happened to them. They are in a different location. Did they change owners? Did someone have an off day? Love at first bite?! Naw... more like love at first inhale. Because, that's basically what happened after I sunk my teeth into one of these scrumptious cupcakes for the first time. Literally INHALED that mug like there was no tomorrow. And nope... I ain't ashamed of it either. How. Just... how?! How can these cupcakes be THIS damn delicious. So moist and creamy. So rich and flavorful. Addictive. Calling my name. Habit forming... and kind of a bad habit because I've been trying to lower my sugar intake at this point but... (shrugs shoulders). If you put one of these cupcakes in front of my face, I will never say no. It's gonna get eaten. Inhaled! It's gonna get inhaled. So, I have a minor confession to make. I haven't even been inside of this bakery.... yet. But, I've had their cupcakes on three different occasions now, and I've fallen in love with them each and every time. Two words: CARROT CAKE! I was really excited when I saw that this shop had moved from the Walnut Street courtyard to Vine Street. Their new interior is very cute and more spacious. While there isn't any indoor seating, they have two tables with chairs outside. The frosting on the red velvet cupcake was smooth and perfectly sweet and tangy. I wasn't blown away by the cake itself -- it was a little too dry for me. The chocolate chip cookie was solid. 11.24.2020 Stopped by here to pick up some goodies for our Berkeley family. They said this was their favorite! Yay!!! I chose the Key Lime Pie over the Hummingbird Cake cupcake. The taste and flavors were very delicious. The cake was denser than what I am used to but the flavors and textures were definitely on point. Just enough tartness for the key lime and the crushed graham cracker bottom was the best part. It was very yummy! Little O had the Pretty in Pink strawberry cupcake which was so good she ate it all and I didn't get a taste. Usually if she doesn't like cupcakes she will just give it to me.
