Today there was an electrical fire in our office, after which, we were left without power in our office. My co workers and I decided to take advantage of the nice weather and walk over to Ivar's. Around half our office ended up there crowded around a few push together tables. The staff were perplexed by the sudden wave of business but handled it well. I was planning to get the classic cod fish and chips and saw they were offering some kind of cajun version. I asked about it at the ordering counter, the woman said it was very good and used a different type of batter. I gave it a shot. The fish was surprisingly spicy. I have never had spicy fish and chips before but I quite enjoyed the kick and it seemed fitting for a fire day. Over all, the food was fine. Im not the biggest fan of the texture of the batter they use but the fish was juicy and fresh and I really did enjoy the spice of the cajun style. I also quite liked the art prints on the walls. The prawns (shrimps) were really good but the fish and chips were not. I was in search of a good fish and chips and ran upon this place. Love it! Went in for lunch on the way to Spenser Island for some birdwatching a few weeks ago. I had a 4 piece fish and chips. They were fat pieces and 3 would have been enough. Everything was fresh and made to order. The fish pieces were fat and the fries were perfect. The older lady who took my order was working the room and was very friendly and stayed busy. I love the vibe of this location. The one in the Alderwood Mall is good but it's in a mall. The one by Safeway in Lynnwood doesn't have the same level of worker enthusiasm this location has. The fish bar in Mukilteo by the ferry has a pretty good vibe for a walk-up counter but this Everett location has an old school we-care-that-you-came-here vibe that I love. This particular Ivar's is consistently good and I'm already a huge fan of their food. The hubby loves the halibut and usually never strays from it while I'm a little more old-fashioned and usually always order the good 'ol 3 piece fish-n-chips. I'm not a seafood fan. The fish and chips at this Ivars looked good enough to eat. So . . . I gave it a try. My frst impression was incorrect. After just one bite I found the fish and chips good enough to pig out on and I did just that. Washed down with a local beer Ivar's fishand chips gave me a new outlook on seafood, as long a it is fish and chips from Ivars. It is a long way from Houston but I'll be back. read more

One of the nicest, cleanest, friendliest, chain restaurants I have ever been at. Driving from Seattle, especially SEATAC to Vancouver B.C. can lead to hunger and this place was clean, fast with the food which wasn't bad considering that it is deep fried. But for a fast-food place that takes the food to you when you seat down is a change, they actually seem happy to work here. read more

I am a fish and chips fan from way back and this place is not the best but well above average. Halibut or Cod, for the money I go with Cod. Pretty standard Ivar's. Fried seafood, french fries, clam chowder, caesar salad. I really enjoyed the fried halibut. It wasn't greasy at all. All done to the Ivar's standard. Ate here for the first time last night on the way to Iaido practice at the Cascade Boys and Girls Club. I could almost hear the seagulls down by the fire boat station at Pier 54 from when my dad and I went there so often together over the decades. The food was totally as I always remember it! The staff were as wonderfully outstanding as Dave B. and other reviewers have stated. I can't rave about this classic Ivar's enough... it's perfect!! As an out of town customer, went to the Federal Way Ivars and was very happy with the food and the service. They also deserve praise for a small act of generosity. I asked for directions to a store where I could buy some bags of ice for my ice chest. I have been to Ivars a number of times and i do like the fish and chips, however i just do not understand why the portions are so tiny... My friend and i have to order the full boat thing and share it, otherwise we leave feeling like we ate an appetizer.. It also ends up being rather expensive, so i am not sure how it qualifies as fast food. read more

Before you hop on that Whidbey Island Ferry grab a cup of clam chowder...well, if you're not vegan ;) I used to grab a cup or bowl of chowder before we got on the ferry...just divine. The crackers do the chowder the goods....crumble it. read more

The food is not bad, a refreshing change from burger joints. Service varies from good to low-average. The most offputting thing about this Ivar's location are the transients who routinely panhandle to traffic just outside the seating window. Watching shaggy alcoholics beg for their next bit off booze money is not the nicest of sights while you are trying to enjoy your fish 'n chips. For this reason, I usually get takeout when I go there. Worksource visits tend to last too long. I was on my way from Worksource to Lynnwood for shopping and needed food and had a craving for Fish and Chips. I just happened to drive by this location and my car drove me in here. It was a typical Ivar's Fish and Chips location. i can't say much abt the food... the fish & chips are pretty small... salmon salad seemed cool, the white chowder is fantastic. for a fast food joint, the customer service was FIVE STAR. wow, methinks the kfc-lookin guy was the owner.. paid every customer respect. cashiers even walked by to offer chocolate and wetnaps. seriously, so many casual / contemporary restaurants could learn a thing or two from this branch. what a dope spot. i'd pit stop here again for the service (&chowder lol) alone. read more

We usually go to the Ivar's in Seattle kinda by Gas Works Park to enjoy the amazing view from the patio in the back. But this trip, we had to settle for this Ivar's in Everett (we were staying in Marysville). This place looked so depressing. The food was meh. Maybe it was just the environment we were in. Next time we know that if we're in the mood for Ivars, the trip to Seattle is worth it. read more

I had dinner here two nights ago after being told by a friend how good the clam chowder is, and it was quite good. I grew up in New England, the world's finest clam chowder is served there, and this clam chowder holds up to the standard. I order a full bowl and ate it with plenty of crackers, and it was one of the best clam chowder I've ever had. I had fish and chips also and the fish was good, but clearly the clam chowder is what they do best at Ivars. read more

I had the 3 piece alaskan halibut 'n chips. It was delicious. The service is amazing, they are very friendly and customer service oriented. Been here numerous times. Always consistently great friendly service. They take extra care of our elderly family members, like running up to help with the door etc. Food is consistently good too.
