I like hanging out in the area and was looking for something quick and easy to eat--Yelp pointed me to Ivar's Seafood Bar, so I gave it a shot. I ordered the fish and chips. I'm not usually a fish and chips kind of guy, but I can tell when food's good--and this was above average for sure. Plenty of parking, lots of tables, and the place was clean and well-kept, which made it a solid spot to chill and eat. Staff were nice--could've been a little friendlier, but no big deal. Up until now, I had zero experience with this local chain/brand. I found myself unexpectedly on this end of town and decided to give them a try. I might have been the first customer of the day. Very friendly person at the counter. I asked about allergens and ingredients (because I'm a no lactose guy). At first he wasn't sure, but then consulted the chart he had behind the register and showed it to me. I would've tried more items like the chowder, if I would've had some lactaid pills with me, but decided to go with a 3-piece Alaskan true cod fish and chips and a soda. The food came out lightning fast. I don't even think it was 5 minutes. I was surpised that it was a breaded style. I usually prefer battered. But it was hot and fresh tasting. Fries were hot and crispy as well. I really, really wish I had some lactaid pills with me. I wanted fried clams in a bad way. Next time. Anyway. It didn't knock it out of the park for me. But I didn't feel ripped off either. I still can't get used to the 10% restaurant tax in this area. So after tax and tip, over $20 is a little steep for lunch. I've been to a handful of different Iver's, all of which have maintained that same high quality of food and I'm happy to say this location continues to follow that trend! Mom and I split the 4 piece salmon and chips and the salmon pieces are so incredible. Large pieces, hot and fresh with that signature minimal breading we both liked and barely any oil residue. They were so delicious. The fries were fine, nothing that will blow your mind but you get enough to split and that's what we did. But the salmon dipped in their tartar sauce is THE BEST. French fries were tender on the inside and deliciously crispy on the outside. They have a very tasty tartar sauce that does not overwhelm the delicate flavors of the fish. YES YES YES ! I love this Ivars so much, I have honestly been there 3 times this past month and it's been on point every single time! The food is always hot, fresh and flavorful. I always get the fish and chips half Cajun and my mom gets the clam chowder. We splurged today and got the Cajun baby shrimp and jumbo shrimp and you guessed it; it was amazing! And to mention that the customer service is always on point. They are so kind and definitely give you all the crackers and lemons when you need it. I even got extra cod today! Would give 4 rating due to everything ( cleanliness, food quality and menu options), except prices. Although I do know good fresh seafood not inexpensive. I must say though one of my favorites, like many is the famous clam chowder. Hadn't been here in a while and this time we noticed it wasn't as thick/creamy, stronger on bacon flavor and shy on clams, so that was disappointing. Hoping it was an off' day. We also got the classic 4-pc cod/chips $14, very tasty but should have come w/ bit of slaw too so we ordered a side $3-4. Also got a clam/chips basket $10 also good. Portions are smaller than remembered. We asked for two small sodas than realized their only reg. size is 16 oz. and $3.25 each, ugh. I hate paying $3+ when don't usually get a refill. $7.50 for one cup each kills me but she also should have said they don't have small. Nearly $40 later for lunch, we had it eaten in under 15 mins. and just had chowder & slaw left to take home. Good but definitely need more specials and rewards to get people drawn to their good food. No more clams I like Ivers Fish and cl chowder always hot and yummy, but don't get the Super Clams $12 but I could not taste clams, just soggy breading. After eating 3-4 pieces I decided to remove the breading so I could taste the clams. This place was great, the eating area is spacious and there is a lot of parking available. Outdoor sitting and drive-tru is also available. The staff was attentive and the food came fast. I had the tacos, they are pretty big and I totally recommend it. I didnt like the chips and salsa though. We also ordered fried oysters which were good but I prefer them fresh. The french fries were pretty good too. Their menu is extensive and everything sounds pretty good. Will definitely come back to try the rest of the menu. read more

Love to eat the cod fish n chips, white clam chowder and tiramisu (made in Italy). I love how the clam chowder has generous amount of clams than potatoes. Their customer service is consistently amazing. Every single time that I've been there, their employees are so nice and honestly, that helps with the wait for your food. Went in this weekend and they were slam packed. But they still greet you with a smile and are so kind. I always ask for extra sauce and they really hook it up! :) The food takes awhile (15 mins?) but it's because they're so busy on the weekends and it takes some time to fry the fish. My wife and I love fish and chips as well as clam chowder. Since we live in Nevada we make Ivar's our first stop whenever we visit our son and his family. This last stop was kind of disappointing. The size of the fish pieces was pretty small when you look at the price. The chowder was just OK. We have several places in Vegas that are much better. Ivars is amazing. They have the best fish and chips and chowder around. And the prices are pretty decent for seafood. Fish and chips are about $7, and you can get the full boat special for $22 which comes with ten pieces of cod, a basket of fries, two coleslaws, and two cups of chowder. This serves about 2 to 4 people. I am not a big clam chowder person, but this stuff is incredible. You definitely want the white chowder not the red. You can have as many crackers as you want and I love to dip them in my chowder. The fish is super fresh and flaky, not a big grease sponge like at some places. I really like this Ivars and I would give them more stars except that they have added a "waiter" to the seating area. He is a senior citizen and a bit shaky. He told me to sit down and it was his job to get the condiments and refills. I watched him manhandle another customers cup, lid and straw. Keep in mind he is clearing everyone's dirty trash away and carrying around a dirty rag with him with no hand washing in between. Yuck! NO THANKS! If this continues, I will skip lunch here.
